End of the day update.

ReelRum was the norm today, not the exception. The rest of the boats are back and the results were amazing. Rum Runnin came in with 3 Marlin and 1 Dorado. Our good friend Keith Spencer took out some good friends on El Nuevo and they were lucky enough to land an astonishing 8 of 9 Marlin they hooked. Rounding out the group, with a phenominal day was the Radney crew with Cesar and Americo on Tantrum. I am sure they fast asleep now, as they battle with 10 Marlin today, bringing all of them to the boat and releasing each and every one.

Great day guys!!!

Mid Day Update

Our good pals Andy and Andy from England had a sensational third day on the water with us. ReelRum and Captain Omar stayed red hot with 6 Striped Marlin in 3 hours. The Andy's threw in the towel after that and were back before Noon.

Saturday, December 29th

Thank the new moon, Santa, the fishing gods or RedRum Captains and Mates, but Dorado and Tuna have returned. After a solid two weeks of only Marlin bites, table fare started to show up in Cabo waters again. On the 26th we saw one of our boats pull into the Marina with a yellow flag flying and we thought they must have been flying the flag in order to get the dust off. This was not the case, the boats had actually caught a few Dorado. Thursday the 27th it was more of the same, much more. Each boat brought in at least 2 Marlin and a Dorado. Javier managed to find 2 Marlin and 3 Dorado. Alex on El Nuevo found two of each. Cesar had a Dorado and 4 Marlin and Omar took the daily prize with 2 Marlin, 1 Dorado and 10 Tuna. The Kastilahn crew were troopers on this charter. They got to the arch and ReelRum had a problem with the water intake. They had to come back into the marina and patiently wait while our trusty mechanic Rene diagnosed the problem, a plastic bag. After a 45 minute delay they were back on the water. The Kastilahn's were also the first boat back with 13 fish. Needless to say they were happy they stuck around for a few minutes. Friday the 28th was another good day of fishing. The school of Tuna could not be found again but Marlin and Dorado were still around. Omar and Jesus stayed hot and landed 5 Marlin. Nuevo RedRum had a great day with 1 Marlin and 3 big Dorado. Cesar had 4 Marlin and a Dorado and Javier had 2 Marlin for the Gower clan.

Christmas Eve Fishing

A beautiful day in Cabo San Lucas was accompanied by great fishing for all RedRum anglers. Cesar took Ryan and his mother out for another great day of fishing aboard Tantrum. They fished for a couple of hours and were able to snag 4 Stripe Marlin, all catch and release. Rum Runnin had another great day catching and releasing 4 Stripe Marlin with Monty Ward and his group. Rum Runnin headed to Golden Gate where the bite had picked up again. Reel Rum was lucky they were able to talk to Javier on the radio, they too headed out towards Golden Gate and hooked up with 4 Stripe Marlin as well.

El Nuevo had a late start this morning as Steve Sagan from San Diego came in on a cruise ship to enjoy a day of fishing with RedRum. He and his group had a great day fishing, catching and releasing 5 Stripe Marlin and 3 Dorado. They headed back to the cruise ship and off to their next location.

The office will be closed tomorrow for Christmas Day but the boys will pick up right where we left off.

From the RedRum family to yours, we would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays.

Friday, December 21st

Blake Whittlesey and his family came to Cabo for good time and good fishing. After meeting the group I know they have been having a great time. I don't think I saw any of them not smile the whole time they were in our office. Today they headed out with Alex and Juan on El Nuevo and although they weren't able to get any Dorado like they wanted, they hooked up with 4 nice Stripe Marlin for Catch and Release. Pam Ranallo tested her luck with Tantrum. Her and her husband also reeled in 4 Stripe Marlin with the help of Cesar and Americo.

RedRum owners Ryan and John Donovan were joined by Ryan's sister Jennifer, and his future father-in-law Greg Sawyers on Rum Runnin with Javier and Manuel for a day of Marlin fishing. They family caught and relased 2 Marlin before 11 am!

The boats are heading out towards the Lighthouse maybe 2 or 3 miles offshore. Still waiting for the Dorado and Tuna bite to pick back up as I have heard from a couple of buddies that the bite is solid in Northern Baja.

Saludos,

Luis

Wednesday, December 19th

Despite the amount of fish spotted all day by the Redrum team, hooking a Marlin seemed to be a difficult task today. There were loads of fishing chasing bait balls and sitting on the surface around the Lighthouse area today. El Nuevo produced the best outcome by catching and releasing 3 Stripe Marlin. Juan, the mate on El Nuevo was able to hook up with all three early in the morning. Derek Retter and his family were very pleased with their outcome and the way that Alex and Juan handled the day. They heard about the lack of fish being hooked up today and were satisfied with the 3 Stripes.

Jesus and Cesar fished together on Reel Rum and were able to hook up with a Stripe Marlin. It was brought up to the boat and had its picture taken with the Caldwells, quickly put back in the water for a release.

Tantrum and Rum Runnin both had slow days as they tried everything they could to get a Marlin hook up. Mr. Anaya and his son had a great time being on the water together aboard Tantrum even though they came back empty handed. Mr. Anaya understands that fishing is not catching! It is also good that he is teaching his son, who is very knowledgeable about fishin about the slow times as well.

Hopefully the bite will pick up tomorrow! I will be sure to keep everyone posted.

Saludos,

Luis

Catch-up Report

Sorry about the delay folks. I let the Redrum Christmas Party get the best of me this past weekend and I've been moving slowly ever since! On Sunday the Redrum Crew celebrated the season with a dinner for the whole family. Owners John and Ryan Donovan invited all the captains, mates, and office staff plus thier families to Misiones de Kino for a night of great food, great drinks, gifts, stories and laughter. The next day we closed the office and hauled the team to Wild Canyon Tours for a day of Zip Lining through the mountains of Baja off Tule Beach. Check for the pictures on next months NewsReel.

Yesterday it was back to business. We start with the Duncan party. They headed out on El Nuevo for a full day of fishing. Their primary target was Marlin and Marlin is what they got! Alex and Juan were able to hook them each up with a nice Stripe Marlin for catch and release. When their day was over they were thrilled that they had such a great boat, crew, and luck! Perfect day for the Duncans!

The Navares party headed out on Reel Rum and had a great time themselves. Ramon explained to me that the fish were "super hungry, throw the bait in and they take it right away" so I guess the boys had their work cut out for them as long as they can get the bait in the water. Trolling on their way back in they were also able to hook a Dorado for dinner! What a way to finish the day!

Our very own John Donovan headed out for a day aboard Tantrum. John took George Matzunaga, our Marina Manager with him for a day to look for Tuna. Cesar, who is George's son hooked them into plenty of Tuna for quite a busy day. They ended they day with 10 Yellowfin Tuna and a Needlefish. It was the first time in 13 years that George has fished on a boat. He captained boats for over 20 years and is one of the better known Skippers in Cabo. He gave up the Captain seat to become the Marina Manager for Redrum many 13 years ago and his been with us ever since. Anyone who has fished with Redrum knows George and his knowledge for the area, fishing, and killer sashimi! I guess we know why Cesar is such a great fisherman!

Til next time...

Saturday, December 15th

Cesar ended his 2 day slump on Tantrum by catching and releasing 6 Stripe Marlin in a little over a half-day trip. Redrum owner, Ryan Donovan impressed his friends David Redden and Ricky "the Sailfish King" Brown by hooking them up with Cesar and Americo for a day of fishing.

Jeff Waldron and his group headed out on Rum Runnin and had a great day with Javier and Manuel. They caught and released 4 Stripe Marlin when the day was over. Grey Cooper and his wife took Reel Rum out for the first of thier 2 trips with Omar and Jesus. 3 Stripe Marlin and 2 Dorado later they were back in the office talking about how excited they are for tomorrows trip. We'll see how they do.

Cold Winds Blow through Cabo

A cold front blew in to Cabo late in the morning and could have slowed the fishing down for the Redrum team. Omar and Reel Rum said they did not spot any fish until 12:30 in the afternoon. Luckily they were able to hook up with the only Stripe Marlin they saw. A yellow and orange trolling lure also attracted a Dorado to the boat. Cesar had a slow day, spotting only 2 Marlin. Unfortunately he could not get the fish to take the bait and came back empty handed. Alex stayed back with El Nuevo to do some maintenance work while Rum Runnin also reeled in a Stripe Marlin and a Dorado.

Summary of Trip with Redrum

I recieved this email from Duane Hons who fished with us just a few days ago. I thought I would share his exciting summary of his trip with Redrum.

"I have confirmed that December is the right time for Cabo! We arrived on Wednesday afternoon to 81 degrees and sun! A few Cervesas and Margaritas at Misiones De Kino and we were to bed fairly early to prepare for an early morning of fishing. Left the marina at 6:30 and right away we had a Dorado hook up. Next up was my friend Sam with a 5.5 foot Mako Shark! Then it was on to the Marlin. Day one we caught 4 Marlin from 120-215 pounds. MINE WAS THE BIGGEST and measured 113 inches long!!! For Dinner, it was off to Miguel Loco's, they almost had to roll us out of the restaurant!

Day 2 was another fast start on SolMar I and we ended up with 5 Marlin from 120-180, one for each of us. I think my Dad and my buddy Russ were both in the 170-180 range. A few other hook ups that either broke the line, (one mako) and we were done with another great day.

For Day 3 we had an oppurtunity to fish at the infamour Finger Banks! We were ready early for the 3 hour ride out. We ended up with 14 Marlin with Russ and I each with a 99 inch(170-180) and I eclipsed that with a 105 inch (190+). We probably had 5-10 more on for short periods and it was truly pandemonium. We caught those 14 in 4 hours. I figure 30 minutes on average so that is over 7 hours of reeling!! ALL in 4 hours! Then a 3 hour trip back and all were dozing!! Not a whole lot of fish to eat this time, but having Marlin swirling at bait fish under the boat and seeing so many it was simply incredible. There were times when we would look under the boat from the bridge and see 20-30 marlin all at the same time. Just pounding on the bait ball!!! It was tough to come home from the 85 degree weather to 20 degrees and wind chill of about zero when we stepped off the plane last night

Thanks again for the WONDERFUL service and taking such good care of us. You guys always seem to amaze us by going above and beyond your expectations."

Redrum prides ourself on customer satisfaction and getting letters like this is what its all about for us.

Tuesday, December 11th

Tantrum shined brightly today after comming in with 14 Yellowfin Tuna. Bill Matheson and his buddy arrived last night for a 2 day fishing vacation. They headed out with Ramon and Americo on Tantrum as it was Cesars day off. They thought it would be a good idea to head out for some Tuna and Ramon agreed. The day was slow and only 1 Yellowfin was caught until about 1:30. She was trolling back to the dock and right before they pulled their lines in to make the run Americo spotted a group of Porpoise. They put the "peadal to the metal" so to speak and pulled right in front of the school. "We dropped lures right in front of the Dolphin and bang, bang, bang each one went off" Ramon explained to me in an excited, almost cocky tone! Needless to say, Mr. Matheson and his group were very pleased with the way the boys fished and their relentless effort to score their anglers some Tuna.

Rick Rozycki and his wife headed out on Reel Rum to do some Marlin fishing. Omar headed out with Rene as his mate. The two of them worked hard all day and when the day was over they had hooked the Rozycki's up with 3 Stripe Marlin for his first, second, and third Marlin catch ever! Cheers to that!

Rum Runnin and El Nuevo took out our buddy Billy Brenton and his gang. The crews tried every which possible way to land fish for these guys but the Marlin bite came up a little slow today. Rum Runnin was able to lock one in for a catch a release while Alex had a little bit of a longer day and came up empty handed. Marlin were spotted all day but they wouldn't take any of the bait. Brenton and his group will head out tomorrow to give it all they got.

Port Closed to due Hard Rain and Heavy Winds

At around 4:00 am this morning a nasty storm hit downtown Cabo San Lucas. The storm quickly brought strong winds, lightning, and a lot of rain. It was in the best interest of the Harbor Master (Port Master) to make the decision and close the port for the day. Luckily we were able to reschedule our anglers for later trips in the week. Thank you for understanding.

As of right now we are still recieving high winds but no rain. The forecast looks in our favor and things should be back to normal tomorrow.

Til then,

Saturday, December 8th

We have recieved nothing but compliments about Captain Cesar lately and if you read the fish report, you know why! Today Isaac and Frank Andrade from Ontario, CA had a chance to fish with him aboard Tantrum. They were very pleased with the 5 Stripe Marlin that the boys were able to get them into. Isaac and Frank are father and son and got to share something very special. Nothing like reeling in a 180+ lb. Stripe right next to your Dad!

Reel Rum also had a great day with Scott Lavine and his buddy. Omar made sure they got their workout in by hooking them into 3 Sripe Marlin for Catch and Release. We also set up a partner boat with the Mr. and Mrs. Major. They were able to catch 3 Stripe Marlin and a Mako Shark!

Time to sit back and watch Hatton vs. Mayweather!! Go Hatton!!

El Nuevo - Finger Banks Trip Update

I just got off the phone with El Nuevo Captain, Alex and he told me there count was 14 Stripe Marlin. Duane Hons and his group decided they wanted to test their luck on taking the 2 and a half hour cruise out to Finger Banks which is up the Pacific Side. As of 1:00pm Cabo time they had caught and released 14 Stripe Marlin!

Friday, December 7th

One by one the Redrum boats returned to their slips with outriggers lined with Marlin, and Catch and Release flags. First back was Cesar and Americo on Tantrum. They were accompanied by Mr. Co and his son. Mr. Co quickly became impressed when Cesar began hooking them into Marlin and didn't really stop until their time was up. 8 Stripe Marlin when it was all said and done, and to finish off their day Cesar hooked a Mako Shark from the Captains chair!

A little after 2 O'Clock, Paul Bergan and his buddy headed back in from their day out with Omar and Jesus. They were pretty beat after Catching and Releasing 4 Stripe Marlin. Next in was Alex and Juan on El Nuevo. The Chang party was still interested in looking for Tuna. No luck again on the Tuna bite, but they had a great time bringing 5 Stripe Marlin to the boat! Rum
Runnin was the last boat to pull into the slip as Javier brought her in a little after 3:00 pm. The Umlands were able to catch and release 5 Stripe Marlin. They were very impressed with the way Javier and Manuel worked as a team and handled the boat.

Thursday, December 6th

The Kaser party came to us looking for Tuna. We relayed the message to Ramon and Juan on El Nuevo and they said they would give it a shot. Unfortunately the Tuna bite was slow. The Kaser group was able to hook up with 1 Tuna. It would have been 2 but the other was stolen by a Seal.

Duane Hons, a great friend to Redrum brought a few friends to fish with us. Today they headed out on Rum Runnin with Javier and Manuel. They caught and released 4 Stripe Marlin. Javier told that one of the Marlin was well over 200 pounds. They were also able to catch a Dorado and a Mako Shark for dinner.

Ryan Jaffe headed out on Reel Rum but unfortunately came back empty handed.

Cesar impressed Mr. Chang by hooking him into 8 Stripe Marlin for catch and release! If you want to catch a lot of Marlin ask for Cesar on your next trip with Redrum!!

Adios,

Luis

Wednesday, December 5th

The fishing slowed down a bit today as dark clouds and rain threatened the Cabo area. Rum Runnin and Reel Rum both caught a Stripe Marlin a piece while Tantrum was able to bring in 2 Dorado before the day was over. Our buddy Maumus from Tactical Tackle filmed another day on El Nuevo and was able to capture the catching and releasing of 3 Stripe Marlin!

18 Stripe Marlin Caught and Released

The combine catch for the Redrum fleet this afternoon was 18 Stripe Marlin and 1 Dorado. The conditions on the Pacific side were great for Marlin fishing as the water was crystal clear which made spotting fish very easy.

El Nuevo led the fleet with 6 Stripe Marlin and a Dorado caught. Captain Alex told me that he had a great time fishing with the Leduc group. Reel Rum finished the day with 5 Stripe Marlin caught and released with the Knight party. Rum Runnin finished her day with 4 Stripe Marlin released with the Kaser party on board.

Maumus Clauverie, owner of Tactical Tackle wanted to come down and fish Cabo San Lucas to create a video of his products in action. We put his day in the hands of Cesar and Rene aboard Tantrum and by 11 O'Clock this morning they had hooked up with 2 Stripe Marlin and ended the day with 1 more to their belts. Tactical Tackle has great products for all Sportfishing needs, check them out at www.tacticaltackle.com.

Weather Report: The morning are quite chilly right now with some low winds off the shore. Once the sun comes up the heat rises and we have had some beautiful afternoons on the water.

Reel Rum

After catching and releasing 5 Stripe Marlin on his trip out with Reel Rum Mr. James Knight was happier than ever. "We could not say how happy we are with the way Omar and the rest of Redrum treated us" he said to me as he walked in the office. Reel Rum was back into her slip by 12 Noon.

Mid Morning Post - December 4th

I just got a report from Cesar on Tantrum that he is fishing at the Lighthouse (Pacific Side) and that he already caught and released 2 Marlin. Tantrum was fishing near El Nuevo and Rum Runnin which both reported at least 2 Marlin already. Rum Runnin also has a Dorado. It's only 11:00am!!

More to come...

The Arthurs from Concan, Texas came out for another day and hooked into 3 nice size Stripe Marlin. One of the Marlin estimated to be over 180 lbs from what Alex told me. The Eilertson couple had another great day fishing with Reel Rum. Omar and Jesus added 3 more Stripe Marlin to their count. Ryan and myself headed out with our new friend Krista from Idaho and helped her land 6 Yellowfin Tuna on a short day. All the other boats headed out towards the Pacific side as the Marlin bite has come a little bit closer in while Rum Runnin cruised the Sea of Cortez side in search of Tuna!

While all the boats from yesterday came back with Tuna, today was the day for Marlin, Marlin, and more Marlin. On a half day trip, Cesar and the Kim’s headed out towards the Lighthouse and were able to catch and release a nice size Stripe Marlin before bringing it in early. Reel Rum had a great day with the Eilertson’s who headed out looking to target Billfish. Friday, November 30th

Dark clouds and light rain hovered over Redrum anglers all day but that did not stop them from catching more Tuna than they could imagine. Every boat headed out for Tuna today and all 4 of them succeeded. Timothy Hender headed out with his buddies and caught 2 nice Dorado along with 12 Tuna with Alex and El Nuevo. Matt Devoss brought his group of friends down to fish with Redrum. We hooked the gang up with Tantrum and Rum Runnin for a day of fishing and they hooked up with a combine 23 Tuna and 5 Dorado! Great day guys! Mr. and Mrs. Doug Eilerston headed out on the first of their 2 days of fishing with Reel Rum. Today they wanted to grab some fish to freeze and take home and that is exactly what they did. Omar and Jesus helped the couple bring 10 Tuna and 2 Dorado to the boat.

Thursday, November 29th

Today was a great day for Tuna fishing on the Sea of Cortez side. The first boat back to the Marina was Tantrum with Mr. Wheeler. Cesar said that he could have caught 30 Tuna if he wanted. “The bite was all over the place, put a sardine in and pull up a fish”, Cesar explained to me. Mr. Wheeler ended the day with 10 nice Tuna for the freezer. Also bringing in 10 Tuna was Bill Anker from Denver aboard Reel Rum. Alex had a slower day on the water with his clients staying closer to shore trolling live bait.

Wednesday, November 28th

Mr. and Mrs. John Barr headed out for their Anniversary. All John wanted was for his wife to catch a nice Dorado the boys on El Nuevo made sure it happened. Ramon and Juan worked hard all day to find Dorado. They were able to catch a 30 lb Dorado. Lou Wheeler came back to visit us after almost a year of being away. He headed out on his first day with his old buddy Omar aboard Reel Rum. They ended the day with 2 Stripe Marlin. Mr. Wheeler was able to hook up to both of the fish himself as he is becoming quite the pro! Javier and Rum Runnin caught and released 2 Marlin and a Dorado for dinner while out with the Miley couple. Tantrum stayed in the slip while Cesar worked on his equipment and gave the boat a small tune up.

Redrum family member Jennifer Donovan came to visit us and headed out with her brother Ryan. They were able to catch 7 Tuna of 20 lbs or plus. They boys were back to the dock by 11:30 and had caught and released 2 nice sized Stripe Marlin at the Golden Gate. “Where else can you go out and catch 2 Stripe Marlin and still make it back for a 1 o’clock tee time!”.. ahh the Cabo life! Cesar came back shortly after on his day trip with Mr. Vargas who was very satisfied with the 2 Stripe Marlin that he and his son brought to the boat. Chris Johnson and his buddy Jason headed out with Reel Rum for their second day of fishing and caught and released 2 Stripe Marlin as well. I’m sure Cesar tipped him off! Barney and his son headed out again, this time with Omar and caught 3 Marlin, 1 Wahoo, and a Dorado! Enjoy the fish! Cesar may have thought he was going to have it easy after his great day with Steve and the gang…. Think again buddy! He met yesterday’s quota plus 1 also bagging a nice Dorado for dinner! 7 Stripe Marlin and 1 Dorado for Steve, Katy, Rob and Trina. Trina or Katy, can’t remember which one reeled in a Stripe Marlin that was over 111 inches. The biggest one for Cesar this year! Congrats and thanks again guys. Spread the Redrum Love! Barney Schotters and his son headed out for their first of two days with Redrum. Day one ended with them catching and releasing 3 Marlin. Marty Kennedy headed out with Reel Rum and also caught and released 3 Marlin.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007
A special thanks goes out to Steve, Katy, Rob and Trina for making my job so easy and fun! Your group was truly a blast to work with and Cesar sends a special “gracias” as well The 2 couples booked 2 days with the “infamous Cesar” that they had heard such great things about. Under pressure Cesar was able to live up to his name. The group was able to catch and release 6 Stripe Marlin when the day was said and done! Shane Williamson and Rodney Lowe headed out with Alex and Juan and reeled in 2 Marlin and a Dorado while Reel Rum and our great friend Tom Plummer caught 6, “not 5 but 6” Dorado and 1 Marlin! Tuesday, November 13, 2007
Today was yet another great day for Marlin fishing in Cabo San Lucas. Redrum sent out 3 boats and each came back with 3 or more Marlin. El Nuevo and the Shauers hit up Golden Gate for the “Marlin Show” and ended up hooking 3 Marlin for catch and release. Rum Running and the Galens headed out in search for the big one and came back with 3 stories, each of their Marlin releases! Omar brought the most flags in at the end of the day. Hoisting 8 flags total- 4 Marlin flags and 4 Catch and Release flags- the Phillips’ crew was beat after their day out. Discovering that Tantrum was having some difficulties in the morning we made a decision to put Mr. Glenn Ansbell and his buddy, Brian Kelly on a partner boat. The 2 were not out longer that a half-day trip before they were back with literally a boat full of Tuna. 22 Tuna were caught between the 2 of them and half of that was kept for the freezer and return trip! Thanks for cooperating guys, looks like it paid off!

Chris and his buddies hustled into the office and just had to go out again tomorrow….check the reports to see how they did on day 2!

November 7, 2007
The catch has continued to stay solid on the Pacific Side up near Golden Gate. I have had reports from clients all month that say that have been able to spot 6 or 7 Marlin at one time. Bait balls have come inches away from the boats with Stripe Marlin chasing for a snack. It does not take long to train your eye to keep your eyes out for the Marlin and it really helps the Captain and Mates too.

November 1– 6, 2007
Thursday, November 1st:Our California buddy John Henigan came to Cabo again for some business and could not help himself from getting on a Redrum boat for a quick trip. He and some partners headed out on El Nuevo and Tantrum. Their combined catch was 7 Dorado, 3 Tuna and 1 Stripe Marlin. Doug Blair headed out for his second day, this time on Rum Runnin. Javier and Manuel took good care of him getting 3 Stripe Marlin to the boat and a nice Dorado to enjoy at dinner!

A special personal fish report from our great friend Tina Piper and her family reads:

"We had a great time fishing on the reel rum and we will recommend you to our friends. The day was sunny but a little rough , John caught 3 dorado ,and 1 marlin and Katelynn 15 years old caught a marlin both they said were about 120-130 pounds. The only thing we kept was a dorado. Our captain was Omar and 1st mate was Ramón, we had a great time fishing Redrum. Thanks"

Friday, November 2nd: We were pleased to host the WESCON group for a day out on the water on the Redrum Fleet. The group headed out, 4 on each boat. The combined catch for the day was 6 Dorado, 5 Stripe Marlin, and 1 Tuna. The leading boat was Rum Runnin with 3 Marlin and 1 Dorado. Tantrum came in close second with 2 Dorado, 1 Marlin, and 1 Tuna. October 30th Redrum Sport Fishing Report
It may seem like I am repeating myself but, Redrum anglers had another great week on the waters. The Marlin bite and Dorado bite has still been non-stop up at the Golden Gate area on the Pacific side. The past couple of days I have received reports of bigger Marlin heading to the Sea of Cortez side now that the water has cooled off a bit. We are still waiting for the grand tuna bite to come closer to Cabo as reports of big Tuna are being delivered from the Eastcape. October 22nd Redrum Sport Fishing
October has by far been the best month that I have witnessed during my 10 months with Redrum. Golden Gate on the Pacific side was red hot all month and produced great numbers of Marlin, Dorado and Wahoo. We are still on the look out for the big Tuna as there have been a few bigger ones caught recently around town. With Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournament kicking off this week make sure to read next weeks report for highlights

Fish Report October 15th- October 21st

Monday, October 15th
Mr. Young and his father set out on the first of their 4 trips with Redrum Sportfishing. Longtime anglers, the Young’s had a great day with Alex and El Nuevo. 10 Dorado, 1 Wahoo, and 1 Tuna to start off their trip is not bad! Mr. Weakland and his group set sail with Omar on Reel Rum and had an excellent day with 8 big Dorado for the Redrum freezer! Javier, Mr. Miners, and his buddy started off their trip with a bang on Rum Runnin catching 5 Dorado, 2 Marlin, and a Wahoo. Cesar hooked up to the first Black Marlin of the season for Redrum along with 10 Dorado on his day out with the Bowen party. The Black Marlin weighed an estimating 300 lbs was quite the catch!

Tuesday, October 16th
Mr. Young decided to bring Mom along for their second day on the water with Alex. He thought he could use a helping hand with all the fish being caught! The group ended up bagging another 10 Dorado, a nice Wahoo, and 2 Stripe Marlin. Mr. Bowen decided to test his luck and hit the Sea of Cortez on his second day of fishing. In search for the Tuna they ended up falling short and bringing a Blue Marlin to the boat for a catch and release. The 300 lb Blue Marlin was the second large Billfish for the Bowen group. Rum Runnin took out the Miners who caught a nice Wahoo and a Dorado. Tantrum ended her day with 7 Dorado and 3 Stripe Marlin.

Although they weren’t able to get the Marlin to the boat it was quite the experience!

A special acknowledgment goes out to Mr. Lou Martino and Mr. Jeff Estep. These 2 gentlemen entered the Bisbee’s Offshore 2 Day Tournament on the 20th and the 21st of October. October 1, 2007

They ended their day with two 60+ lb Yellowfin, one 45 lb yellowfin, and 6 Dorado.

Saturday, September 29th
Lisa Spielhagen and our girls from Texas headed out on El Nuevo. They got a little late of a start but still ended the day with 6 Dorado and a beautiful trophy Marlin. Larry Miller got to know Omar on his day out on Reel Rum as he caught 5 Dorado and 1 Stripe Marlin. Mr. Brown and Cesar headed out to get hooked up on Tantrum. Our boys have been working hard to put our anglers on the fish. Right now we have been seeing some very large Bull Dorado, a few Blue Marlin, and some larger Tuna. This month Cesar will be participating in the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament. Tantrum will be representing Team Redrum for thie first time in the LCBF Tournament. We are excited about this month as it looks like it will be a very promising month for anglers of all over.

July 26th Redrum
Sorry for the delay folks.. with one man short in our office for the first 2 weeks of July it was hard to keep track of the number of fish our Redrum anglers had been reeling in. It has been an excellent month for Large Dorado and Striped Marlin as well. elow is the fish Report for the 2 weeks….

Fish Report for July 12h - July 25th:

Wednesday, July 25th
Port Closed: The Port Captain issued an announcement at 7:30am for all boats to return to the Marina due to rough water conditions and possible rain due to Tropical Storm Delilah that had been circulating the Southern Pacific waters for the past few days. Cabo San Lucas stayed completely dry although there were reports of rough seas. The Garcia party was actually able to hook up a Marlin before 7:30. The fight was over quickly and Omar headed quickly into the Marina. We apologize to all our clients for the delays.

Tuesday, July 24th
Rum Runnin had a phenomenal day with The Garcia family. Mr. Garcia, his wife and son reeled in 13 Tuna as well as a nice sized Marlin. Joe Lester and his wife went out with Omar and Reel Rum and were Caught and Released a Striped Marlin. El Nuevo Redrum caught a large Dorado early in the morning and followed up with a Striped Marlin Catch and Release.

Monday, July 23rd
Omar and Reel Rum continue their success with the Bretko family. Mrs. Bretko impressed Omar by spotting 3 Marlin before he did. Jesus- Omar’s mate was able to pitch the live bait and get all 3 hooked up. Needless to say Mr. and Mrs. Bretko were happy campers! We think she can take home the bragging rights and deserves all the credit! Thanks for the good company guys!

Sunday, July 22nd
Mr. McConnell and his son had an unforgettable day while on board Reel Rum. Omar and fist mate Jesus were able to put them on 8 Marlin. The McConnell’s were able to get 7 to the boat and all the fish were perfectly released. What a great day. I bet they were pretty sore the next day. The Davis party hooked up on 2 nice sized Marlin while on El Nuevo and were able to get both up to the boats for photos and releases. The same Garcia family that brought in 13 Tuna on Tuesday reeled in 3 Marlin with Xavier on Rum Runnin!

Saturday, July 21st
Our buddy from Texas Mr. Burke and his daughter headed out on Reel Rum and hooked up on 2 Marlin making it quite the memorable day for the two of them. The Terril group ended their day with 3 Catch and Release Marlin while on El Nuevo. Our All-Star group, the McConnell’s reeled in 4 Marlin with Cesar on Tantrum.

Friday, July 20th
The McConnell’s spent their first day with Redrum aboard Tantrum hooking up with 2 Marlin. Finishing with 12 Marlin on 3 days of fishing is an excellent vacation if you ask me!

Thursday, July 19th
The Wingfield party reeled in a Striped Marlin while aboard Rum Runnin with Xavier. El Nuevo Redrum led the pack today with 4 Marlin Caught and Released. Tantrum and Reel Rum both ended the day with a Striped Marlin.

Wednesday, July 18th
A good day all around for Redrum started by Cesar. He arrived back to the Marina first with a Marlin flag flying high, as well as a Dorado flag. The Dorado was a monster that weighed nearly 60 lbs. Reel Rum was next to the dock with flags flying high. Mr. Bricini with his party and Omar brought in a Dorado and a Tuna. Alex and El Nuevo caught 3 monster Dorado with the Watts party.

Tuesday, July 17th
The Watts party continued started their 2 day trip with Redrum on El Nuevo bringing in 3 Marlin and 2 Dorado. Tantrum also reeled in 2 Marlin. Rum Runnin had a share party participate in the catching of 3 nice Dorado. It always makes us happy when we introduce 2 groups for the first time and get them on some fish.

Monday, July 16th
Tantrum continued to bring it strong today with the Crane party. Cesar landed1 Marlin and hooked up 2 nice sized Dorado. Rum Runnin had a great day Catching and Releasing 4 Marlin in 3 hours!

Sunday, July 15th
Reel Rum, Rum Runnin, and El Nuevo were chartered by the Willis party for ½ days of fishing. Reel Rum and Rum Runnin could have used a little more time as they came back empty handed. Omar and Xavier both reported they saw a lot of fish but could not get them to take bait. This happens sometimes depending on how often the Marlin has been eating. El Nuevo was able to reel in a big Dorado and a Striped Marlin on their half-day adventure. Our friend Julie reeled in a nice sized Marlin weighing in about 170+ lbs as well.

Saturday, July 14th
The Jackmans finished strong after fishing with Redrum for 3 days. They ended their adventure on Rum Runnin, El Nuevo and Tantrum with a combined 6 Marlin and 2 Dorado. Omar and Reel Rum finished the day with a Marlin for the fight and a Dorado for the fridge!

Thursday, July 12th
The Matthews’ family was the first back to the Marina aboard Reel Rum with a beautiful Striped Marlin. The Jackman party began their trip by catching 6 Dorado and 7 Marlin. The group on El Nuevo reeled in 4 of the Dorado and 2 of the Marlin. Tantrum pitched in by catching 2 Dorado and 2 Marlin as well. Rum Running also helped out Catching and Releasing 2 Marlin.

Since the 12th of July our crew here at Redrum Sport fishing has been hitting up all the fishing spots from 10 miles in to 30 miles out. July has brought some strong currents and the boys really have to work hard to find the fish. Golden Banks has been a good spot as well as Jaime Banks. Anywhere in between the two spots fish are being caught. The crews on all of our boats work extremely hard at communicating with each other as well as other fellow fisherman around the area. They all have a strong passion for catching fish and it shows with their hard work. Get in touch with so you can experience Baja Fishing, Redrum Style!

The week of the 1st to the 7th of July was awesome for Dorado, big big bulls showing up in Cabo waters... 50lb Dorado were not uncommon and a few behemoths were caught as well, including a 70+ pounder. Also had a few football size Tuna show up, so that was encouraging. One large yellowfin in the 70-80lb class was caught as well. Marlin bite stayed consistent for the Stripers. Big Blues should show up soon, but the Stripers are holding their own in the size category. A 180+ and 200+ Striper were Caught and Released this past week. Wahoo have been brought in from time to time, they are probably waiting another two weeks or so for that water to get really warm. One Sailfish was also caught last week, seems the warm water fish are coming slowly. Inshore is still strong for Roosters and Yellowtail....

June 26th Redrum
Summer is finally here! The summer heat has brought in great days of fishing for the Redrum fleet as we continued to see Dorado, Tuna, and Striped Marlin. Yesterday our boats reeled in a few Wahoo with some nice size to them. Make sure to check the reports next week to see if the Wahoo bite continues…

Fish Report for June 18th - June 25th:

Monday, June 25th
It took Tantrum only 4 hours to tire out Mr. Peacock and his boys. They headed straight out past the Arches and found a bundle of Seaweed floating. Cesar knows that a lot of the time this means serious Dorado. He was right!! Tantrum ended the day with 11 Dorado and a Tuna. Fantastic catch guys! Enjoy the fish; you should have enough for the rest of the summer! Rum Runnin caught a Dorado and a large Wahoo. Nuevo also tallied a Wahoo along with 2 Bull Dorado. Omar on Reel Rum hooked up the Hall party with 2 Bull Dorado.

Sunday, June 24th
El Nuevo led the fleet with a solid day. The Rich party caught 3 Dorado for the fridge and also Caught and Released a nice Striped Marlin. Rum Runnin had a good day as well bringing in 2 Striped Marlin for Tag and Release.

Saturday, June 23rd
One is better than none! El Nuevo caught a monster Dorado that weighed in the upper 50 lbs. The fish was caught by Our good buddies from John Henigin. We enjoyed having you guys.

Friday, June 22nd
Reel Rum had ended their day with a share that was put together with 2 Dorado and 3 Striped Marlin, 2 of them Caught and Released. Laci and her party had an excellent day with the crew realizing how hard they work. El Nuevo ended the day with a Tuna and Rum Runnin with a Striped Marlin.

Thursday, June 21st
Again, the Dorado bite has continued to be steady this week. El Nuevo and their party fought 2 big Dorado to pack the fridge with fresh fish. Rum Runnin also caught 2 Dorado as well as a Striped Marlin that was Caught and Released.

Wednesday, June 20th
We were happy to host the IPA Group as they came and enjoyed a day on the water with Redrum. The group went out on Rum Runnin and Tantrum catching and releasing 3 Marlin. We enjoyed having you guys down here and hope to see you again next year. El Nuevo and Mr. Golden ended their day with 3 nice Striped Marlin. All 3 were released. Thank you. A new Redrum friend, Mr. SaintMarie and his sons headed out with Omar and Reel Rum end had a triple Marlin hook up! They ended with 2 of them on the boat and both were released! It was nice meeting you guys, see you soon!

Tuesday, June 19th
A report of cold water slowed fishing down for most of the boats in Cabo. Rum Runnin found a Marlin at around the 95 mark. The Javier, the captain told me it took about 15 minutes to get the fish to finally take to the live bait. After that, the fight was on! Mr. Edwards battled the Marlin for a good 45 minutes until it was brought to the boat for a snapshot and release.

Monday, June 18th
Redrum started the week off with a bang!! Reel Rum led the pack with a Triple Marlin hook up and bringing all 3 to the boat for pictures with enough time to get them released safely. Tantrum and El Nuevo both Caught and Released 2 large Striped Marlin. The boys were glad to see water in the up 70’s coming back closer to their fishing grounds. We are expecting to see fish come around a lot closer due to the warm waters.

June 18th Redrum Fish Report
Happy Belated Father’s Day! A fishing trip provides the perfect opportunity for a father and his child to bond. What better way to do it than reeling in a monster Marlin, or Dorado. Redrum was able to reel in Marlin this week that weighed in the lower 200 lb range and Dorado in the upper 40 pound class. This weeks Fish Report:

June 17th
The Head family took a trip on El Nuevo and headed out to the outer 95 Spot. This seemed to be the spot to be as they were able to catch 7 tuna, 2 Dorado. They were also able to Catch & Release a Striped Marlin. Rum Runnin took out the Strickland party and they landed a 106” Striped Marlin for the wall! Congrats on a great catch. The other boat stayed in as the boys celebrated Father’s Day with their loved ones.

June 16th
Reel Rum went out and caught 2 large Bull Dorado. A Striped Marlin was also caught during their trip.
Tantrum headed out to the outer 95 Spot but returned early due to slight motion sickness onboard.

June 15th
Reel Rum again had a great day catching 3 Dorado and a Mako Shark. Omar has been using bright lures to attract the Dorado and pitching live bait to secure the bite. El Nuevo Redrum ended the day with 2 Dorado and a Striped Marlin.

June 14th
Mr. Coco and his family enjoyed a day on the water with his family and El Nuevo Redrum. They hooked into a nice Dorado and ended the day with a Tuna. Mr. Rushing and his son were in for the fight of their lifetimes when Cesar hooked into a Marlin at 9:15am. The fight lasted until 11:30am, on the other end of the line was a 215 lb Striped Marlin. Needless to say, the boys were exhausted and headed back in after the catch. Reel Rum stayed inshore for the Rooster bite which has stayed consistently solid for us the past couple of weeks.

June 13th
A slow day for Redrum and Cabo fishing. A cold water current ran from the Pacific Ocean to the Sea of Cortez disrupting the fishing that had been holding strong for us. Reel Rum ended the day with a Dorado. Tantrum was able to find a Dorado along with a Wahoo! Rum and Nuevo ended the day empty handed. The water temperature plays such an important part of fishing. The warmer blue water attracts bait fish to the surface so they can feed. The bait fish attract the bigger fish that you and I so love to catch, that is why the water temperature plays such and important role in Sport Fishing.

June 12th

El Nuevo caught and released a Striped Marlin with the Manni party. Mr. Renwick ended his 4 day fishing adventure with an inshore session aboard Rum Runnin. Rum Runnin managed to haul in Rooster and Yellow-tail. Tantrum had a good day snagging Dorado and Tuna. Reel Rum was a no show.

Now that summer is here Cabo is starting to pick up. The Marina is filling up with people from all over excited about fishing in Cabo. We know there are a lot of options when choosing charter companies in Cabo and we thank you to those who have stayed faithful to Redrum. For those of you that have not been experienced fishing “Redrum Style” come on down to Baja and let us take you on an experience you will never forget

June 11, 2007
What an exciting week for the anglers that fished Redrum! Wahoo, Dorado, Yellow-Fin, and Striped Marlin are just a few of the fish caught by Redrum clients during the first full week of June. Captains say the 95 spot is still the place to be to have your shot at the big Dorado that are coming in and the Striped Marlin. With water temperatures getting close to 80 degrees a week and a half to go they have cooled back down to mid-70’s in the Sea of Cortez side. The Pacific side is still a little cold when it comes to fishing on the cruisers. As for the Panga fishing, the lighthouse, or locally known as el “faro” has been grounds to some of the best this year. Rooster, Yellow-tail, Pargo, Pompano, and Sierra have been some of the fish caught in the area.

June 5, 2007
We have been busier than ever down in Cabo this past week. Now that the warm water has moved close enough to us from the Eastcape our boats have been hauling in Dorado and Tuna along with the large Striped Marlin we are starting to see. In-shore fishing has been excellent for the Redrum Anglers lately. Rooster fish are still being caught as well as Yellow-Tail and Sierra. Look for the bite to continue to pick up as Summer Time is upon us. Go to the reservations page on our website to reserve a spot on one of our fabulous boats. This weeks fish report:

Saturday, June 2nd
The Wilkerson Party kept Alex busy with their big day slamming the Dorado and Mr. Harr finally caught and released his Marlin. Congrats on the great days, we are looking forward to those pictures.

Friday, June 1st
June started off on a great note for the people fishing with Redrum. We ended May with a bang and expect to carry our success to the following months. Alex carried his weight on El Nuevo catching 2 large Bull Dorado and a Marlin that had a fight for the books. The fight lasted well over an hour and had Alice and her friends exhausted at the end of the day. Rum Runnin, Tantrum, and Reel Rum all ended the day with a catch and release Marlin.

Thursday, May 31st
Cesar and Tantrum caught 3 nice sized Dorado on his day out with the Toepher family. Reel Rum had a great day with a nice sized Tuna, a Large Bull Dorado and a catch and Release Marlin with Mr. O’Brien and his party. Our good friend Paul came back for their second trip with Redrum. The Farrar party brought in 4 Dorado during their day out with El Nuevo. Alex and his mate Manuel have been doing great for us. They led the team in May and continue to do very well for us. The other boys aren’t far behind so there will be no slacking off.

Wednesday, May 30th
Vincent Sanders fished his last day with Redrum. He and his had a fabulous 4 day trip with Redrum Sport fishing. We were happy to have you guys fish with us and we enjoyed your company. We wish you gentlemen the best of luck in all your other fishing adventures. On their last day they caught 3 Dorado and a much anticipated Striped Marlin for the trophy wall. The Lopez party ended the day with 2 Tuna, 2 Dorado, and 2 Striped Marlin while fishing on Reel Rum and Rum Runnin. Tantrum also had a great day catching and releasing a Marlin and catching a nice Tuna.

Tuesday, May 29th
The Sanders party continued their success on El Nuevo bringing in 4 Huge Bull Dorado. Rum Runnin and Tantrum also reeled in a pair of Dorado as well. Our captains told me that they only had to go out 5-7 miles to find the fish. Warm waters crept into San Lucas making the water full of movement and sea-life. Alex reported whales, dolphins, and sea-turtles a little further out.

Monday, May 28th
Vincent took his friends out on Tantrum to test their hand on In-Shore fishing. These guys are good! Rooster, Sierra, Pargo, Snapper, and Yellow-Tail. All is 5 hours! Rum Runnin caught 2 nice Tuna. And Sam and his friends went out with Nuevo and hooked into 2 keeper Tuna as well. Reel Rum was moved out of the water early in the morning for a paint job.

Sunday, May 27th
Nuevo started Vincent Sanders and his friends off with a bang. Hammering the Tuna with a total of 14 along with 2 Dorado and a Striped Marlin. Way to start off a trip to Cabo!

Saturday, May 26th
Tab Ballard set off aboard Rum Runnin and Xavier and Humberto had him hooked into Tuna before he knew it. We are beginning to get reports of large schools of porpoise up the Sea of Cortez side. This is a good sign that Tuna season should be picking up. Dorado will more than likely be coming around in larger numbers shortly.

Sunday, May 25th
Mr. LeDeoux had a fantastic day with Cesar aboard Tantrum. Along with the great conversation, the boys reeled in 4 Tuna, 2 Bull Dorado, and 1 Catch and Release Marlin

May 24th
Redrum has been heading out to the 95 spot and Punta Gorda to try to find fish. The fishing spots have been patchy as we are still trying to pinpoint the best spots on the Cortez side. The crews continue to spot large groups of porpoise as well as large tuna. There are reports of Tuna and Dorado in the upper East Cape. We should be seeing the results of the moving schools any day.

El Nuevo took out some Redrum family members for a day on the water. Nina Vela hooked into a Striped Marlin and fought it for a little over 45 minutes finally getting it on board for a Tag & Release. This was their first time in Cabo and their first time Deep Sea fishing. Luis was very proud to see her reel in that big of a fish. Dave Mahalick fished on Rum Runnin and was also able to catch and release a Striped Marlin. Cesar was able to hook up with a football Tuna on his half-day out with the Andreani’s.

With the wind beginning to die down the Sea of Cortez is starting to show signs of life. The water temperature is rising every day and will continue to do so bringing in more and more fish. It looks like June is going to be an even better month for Cabo fishing!!

May 23rd
The Ater party had a great time aboard El Nuevo. Tagging and releasing one Marlin topped the beautiful day off. The captain and mate enjoyed having them on board. The Prunetti party tested their luck again with Reel Rum and Tantrum. Tantrum unfortunately came back empty handed while Reel Rum again went inshore and hooked up for the better part of the morning.

May 22nd
Again the two 28’ boats headed out with Reel Rum hooking into a Marlin for a nice tag and release and Cesar keeping his steady pace with a tagged and released Marlin as well.

May 21st
The Prunetti party came back to fish Redrum. They took out our two 28’ boats for a day of fishing. Tantrum went out to test their luck at trying to land the big one. They were lucky and hooked into a nice size Marlin. Reel Rum kept it close, they stayed in shore for the Sierra and Pargo, catching plenty of each.

May 20th
A half-day on Rum Runnin was all it took for Mr. Paul and his party to tire out on fish. Humberto had Sierra hook ups for the majority of the morning. The Meline family also tested their hand at inshore fishing and ended the day with 12 Sierra and 12 Rooster Fish.

May 19th
The Meline family went out on El Nuevo and hooked into a nice sized Tuna. The fight lasted around 30 minutes. The fish got lucky and spit the hook a few yards in front of the boat. Rum Runnin stayed inshore and hooked into Sierra and Rooster as their bite has stayed strong. We have been seeing a lot of people coming back with Pargo fish. This is a great white meat that is similar to Sea Bass and is great eating.

May 18th
David Nelson brought his group in to fish Redrum while they were here on a Wedding Party. The boys set out and had a great day on Tantrum and El Nuevo. Cesar was able to catch 4 football Tuna while El Nuevo hooked into 2 nice Tuna and a bull Dorado. We enjoyed having you gentlemen fish Redrum and hope to see you soon.

May 17th
Mark Meline and his father Bud went out for a quick day on Reel Rum and caught and released a Marlin. This was Bud’s first Marlin catch ever. We hope you enjoyed reeling in the big one. El Nuevo Redrum also ended the day with a nice sized Striped Marlin.

May 8th – May 14th
The second week in May brought turned out to be a hot one in Cabo. The Striped Marlin bite has persistent as well as your inshore Rooster, Sierra, and Yellow-Fin bite. Late in the week there were reports of Football Tuna being caught around the “95 Spot”. They should be followed by the much anticipated, larger Tuna.. We can feel the heat really starting to move into Cabo as the winds are starting to slow down, the sun is starting to heat the town up. This should make the Marlin bite even stronger and bring in your bigger fish as well! This weeks fish report:

May 8th
Garnet Exelby and teammate Brad Larsen of the NHL team Atlanta Thrashers joined Redrum for a day on the water. They fished with Cesar aboard Tantrum and got into one heck of a Marlin fight. From what Cesar told me, Exelby controlled the Marlin all over the boat at one point he was even reeling it in from captains chair! The Marlin weighed over 170lbs and put up quite the battle. The Torolski Brothers went out with Mono and Rum Runnin and brought in a nice Marlin measuring 107”.

May 9th
The Jeffers party continued their fishing adventure about El Nuevo for the 2nd day in a row. Our good friends had a great time with Alex and they were lucky enough that everyone was able to get action on a Marlin. See you guys soon!
Rum Runnin and Reel Rum each tag and released a Marlin while Cesar and “Slim” did some maintenance work on Tantrum.

May 10th
Redrum had a stand out day, sending all of our boats out. Nuevo ended the day with 2 Striped Marlin. The Brunner party caught 2 excellent sized Marlin. The first one they reeled in was 109” and the second one undersized it by 2 inches. Great catch guys. Reel Rum tagged and released a Marlin while Tantrum stayed busy with 2 Striped Marlin themselves.

May 11th
Michelle Rand and her husband are now 3-3 with Omar and Ramon after reeling in a Marlin during their half-day trip aboard Reel Rum. The Lumapas party also tagged and released a Marlin on their half-day adventure with Tantrum. Alex took out the Torolski Brothers and got them hooked into a pair of Marlin. They will be joining us again soon. We are looking forward to it.

May 12th
Nuevo and Rum Runnin sat in the slips waiting for Randy Jurgensen and his party to show but we think their Bachelor Party may have gotten the best of them! Maybe next time guys! Omar worked on Reel Rum making sure it will be ready for the hot months that are approaching. Tantrum went out with Bill Greaves and hooked into a Marlin to end his trip to Cabo. See you in July Bill..

May 13th
Reel Rum and Tantrum both had half-day trips. Cesar and Tantrum ended up with a nice sized Marlin that Mr. Hafke reeled in after 45 minutes of fighting. The crews on El Nuevo and Rum Runnin took a day off to spend time with their families on our Mothers Day.

May 14th
Tantrum stayed in shore for the majority of their morning hooking into 15 Rooster fish and ending the day with a Marlin. Richard Saunders and his wife went out and hauled in a large Striped Marlin on his first of 2 days fishing with Redrum. He looks to target inshore fish on his next trip.

May 1- May 8
The first week of May was a good week for Redrum. We got to meet the great people from Telware’s communication. Redrum and our clients have been having a blast with the inshore fishing. The Rooster bite has been solid the whole week with people bringing in 5 or 6 a day. The Sierra and Yellow-tail bite has been consistently strong for our Panga fishers as well. Keep an eye out for the fish to start moving in closer on the Sea of Cortez side. Our captains have caught wind of large schools of Porpoise moving in from the East Cape. This weeks fish report:

May 1
Redrum was proud to host the 1st Annual Telware’s Communications Fish-Off. We chartered our fleet, and picked up 3 more boats and set off for a day of competitive fishing. The winning boat ended the day with 2 Striped Marlin, and 2 larrge Dorado. All the other teams were able to reel in at least 1 Marlin. El Nuevo led the Redrum fleet with 2 Striped and 2 Dorado, just under weighing the winners by a few pounds. Thank you to everyone involved in the tournament and Congrats to the winners. We hope to see you again next year.

May 2
Reel Rum surprisingly caught a large keeper Wahoo which was the first one in 2 months. Rum Runnin’ ended the day with a Striped Marlin. El Nuevo had a quiet day, and Tantrum came back in early. There was a sudden change of winds over night and the water conditions were not the easiest to handle.

May 3 & May 4
The fleet headed inshore to challenge themselves to a little inshore fishing. The Marlin bite slowed down a little bit at the same time the inshore picking up. The only thing that was slowing the inshore fishing down was the Sea Lions. 4 or 5 of Redrum Anglers got to see the Sea Lion in action as they would catch up to the fish mainly Rooster and Yellow-Tail and yank the fish right out of their hands.

May 5
Rum Runnin went out with Mr. Wallace and his friends from Texas. They caught and released 1 Marlin and headed to the beach where they laid anchor and relaxed for the day. Our buddy Vince on Tantrum had a great time with Cesar as they spent a short day catching yellow-tail.

After a very busy week, Redrum is keeping up the pace with a great day to start off the week. On Monday the 16th, Tantrum with guests Ken Lulow and friend caught and released 2 Marlin and kept a 40+ Mako shark. The Mako sharks are starting to be consistently caught in Cabo San Lucas, although the fight is short its fun and its quite a treat watching the Captain and Mate strategically work to make sure everyone on board is safe at the same time bringing in the fish for a tasty treat! Our Marlin count continues to be on the rise as El Nuevo chalked up 3 more tag and releases. Reel Rum pitched in and added 2 more perfectly released Marlin to the board. Come back and see us.

April 15
A busy week for Redrum left many happy customers with great memories. On the 9th Reel Rum tagged and released a marlin with the Bly party, while Cesar and the Jackson crew tagged and release 2. The 10th of April was quite the day for newly weds Corey Arrota and wife. On their honeymoon they went out for day fishing with Reel Rum. Omar and Ramon double-hooked Marlin and the newlyweds were able to fight their Marlin side by side getting them both to the boat and released. What a way to start their marriage. Great job guys and We wish you the best of luck. The same day, Tantrum went out with the Bly party and were able to catch 3 Marlin. April 8
We hope everyone had a very Happy Easter. It was great to see the Redrum fisherman not shy away from the rough winds that blew in this past week. For those that fished with the Redrum fleet they know that we were able to catch plenty of Marlin and a handful of Dorado. It is good to see the warm waters have finally brought some Dorado within comfortable reach. They are getting closer and ready to be caught. El Nuevo Redrum brought in a total of 5 Dorado this week with the smallest being around 35 lbs and the largest of the group weighing in at a little over 45. The Oldham family took their family out and each hooked a Marlin one weighed in over 200 lbs. Our new buddy Glenn from Houston went out a few days with Redrum and landed a 218 lb. Striped Marlin with Alex aboard El Nuevo this past week. On the 5th, the Marlin came out full force in the Golden Gate area. It was reported that you could easily spot up to 25 Marlin at once. Reel Rum was patient and got 5 late hook-ups that day. Clients were catching a combination of Dorado and Marlin this week. With the high winds that blew into Cabo this week the water temperatures were a little more difficult to read but I have heard from the crews that the “hot-spots” are on the Pacific side near Jimmy Banks and San Jaime.
We are excited to let our Redrum fans know that we have moved into our new office, conveniently located in the Marina Cabo Plaza. If you would like to know details about our new location please feel free to shoot us an email. info@redrumcabo.com

March 27, 2007
Sorry for the delay Redrum devotees. The team has been working overtime trying to get our new 28’ TantRum in the water by the end of the week and has been requiring everyone pitching in to help. In general, the fishing in Cabo has been good. Marlin are still being caught by all of our boats. Totaling 12 Striped this past week, and 1 Blue. The amount of Mako sharks that are being caught has been the talk around the Marina. Our very own John Donovan reeled in two 40-55 pound Makos last week with Cesar on Rum Runnin’. Omar and Ramon brought in a total of 3 Mako Sharks last week, while Alex and El Nuevo wrestled 4 into the boat. Football size Tuna have been spread out around the Pacific side 20-35 miles out. A few larger Tuna have been caught in the mix as well. Reel Rum ended the week with 4 Dorado, 2 reeled in by Todd Fuller. Several Giant Squid were found on the way out to San Jaime by El Nuevo last week. Enjoy the calamari!!
An awkward fog rolled into Cabo last week and lingered around a few days limiting the vision for our captains. All is back to normal now as the winds have died down and the sun has come back out. Yesterday El Nuevo Tagged and Released 4 Marlin with the Krautwald gang. I have never seen a group of youngsters more excited in my life. Great job guys and congrats on bringing in your first Marlin. Looking forward to seeing you next time. As we await the launching of TantRum any day now, the boys are continuing to focus on Tuna and Marlin. Aside from the spook weather that rolled in last week, clear forecasts and high water temperatures should attract more fish during the upcoming month of April. For all those who will be joining us in April, we can’t wait to have you. For those of you thinking about coming down to fish Redrum style you better hurry and reserve your trip as we are booking quickly for the month. It was a please seeing all the great people at the Long Beach and Del Mar boat shows the last two weeks. Thank you for coming by to see us and inquiring in our operation.

February 20The second week of February brought excellent weather and great Marlin fishing to RedRum anglers. Cabo san Lucas water temperatures were variable from 67 degrees close to Finisterra to 75 degrees at the Cabrillo Sea Mount. Billfish concentrations are moving eastward into the Sea of Cortez which is typical of this time of year. Yellow fin Tuna were scattered and Wahoo were no where to be found, but anglers were almost guaranteed nice Striped Marlin and the Sierra were near shore in great numbers. Brent Atwood and his party reeled in a trophy Striped Marlin for the bragging and a nice keeper Dorado for dinner on the 13th while Lisa Larsen went on a panga trip with Carlos and boated in more than a few Sierra(Spanish Mackerel). NBA star Antonio Davis fished aboard El Nuevo RedRum for a day with Cesar and Alex. On the 15th the Marlin bite was on again. Neal Strickland and the crew of Rum Runnin caught and released 4 Striped Marlin, CONGRATULATIONS on the AMAZING catch and the release! Lisa Larsen went out, on El Nuevo with Alex and Cesar and caught 3 Marlin releasing them all. WAY TO GO LISA!! On the 16th, Andrew Slattery and Mark Lindsey fished El Nuevo RedRum and hooked up early, releasing
2 trophy Striped Marlin, GREAT JOB! Our good buddy Dave Mallory went out with Cesar and Omar on Rum Runnin . He caught and released a Marlin weighed in at over 200 lbs! WHAT A FISH!! Teamwork was the name of the game during their 1 ½ hour fight with the monster, CONGRATS Dave and Carroll, OUTSTANDING CATCH The 17th was a great day for Nancy Kersenbrock and her friends as they fished on El Nuevo RedRum, what a stellar day for them with 5 Striped Marlin! They were able to release them all. Thank you ladies for fishing with RedRum, WORLD CLASS CATCH!! Come back and see us soon! Greg Kelley and Mike Maffucci caught and released a hefty Striped Marlin and a very nice Dorado along with 23 Sierras. KILLER DAY GUYS! Mr. Bill Cornell brought in the first rooster fish of February and a Striped Marlin as well aboard El Nuevo RedRum, NICE WORK BILL! Reel Rum caught and released 3 Marlin to end the week. It was another spectacular week of big game fishing in Cabo and we would like to extend our CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS to all of you who fished with us this week.

Once again, Redrum has had another exciting week with great visitors that brought some great Marlin fishing. Dave Bartlett and pal Louie went out with Omar and Ramon on the 9th, 10th, and 11th to bring in at least 2 Marlin a day along with a couple of nice Sailfish. They released all their catches and for that we thank you. It was a pleasure seeing you gentlemen in Cabo. On the 10th, Alex and mate Sergio caught and released 4 Marlin aboard El Nuevo Redrum. The same afternoon Brian Kellen and party caught and released 2 Marlin and a Sailfish. Lisa Larson and her friends recently arrived in Cabo to do some fishing aboard El Nuevo Redrum for the next couple of days and we look forward to hearing some great fish stories. We have had some great luck fishing on the Sea of Cortez side as the water has been a little warmer. The temperature in Cabo has continued to be pleasantly warm with clear skies and an easy breeze. Thanks to all the Marlin fisherman this past week.

Thanks to clear weather and blue waters Redrum Sportfishing has continued to be productive and exciting. Redrum was fortunate to have the guys Builders Incentives Group on board for the last couple of days in January. Dan Schroeder brought people in from all over the states and they enjoyed 4 great days of fishing with us, bringing in plenty of Dorado, and Marlin taking out Reel Rum, Rum Runnin and El Nuevo Redrum. Great job guys and it was a pleasure having you all on board with us. We hope to see you in the future. On the last day of the month, the Sand couple broke a Redrum record by recording an outstanding 34 Sierra fish, congrats guys and we hope you enjoy the fish. We would like to send a special thanks to Bruce Weaver for using Redrum 3 days for some outstanding fishing with Cesar on Rum Runnin’. Mr. Weaver had fantastic luck
with the Marlin and was able to bring some Dorado to the boat as well. Congrats and great job. On the 5th Todd Delong and his crew went out and pulled in a couple of nice Sierra. The next day the Marlin bite picked up as Andrew Sesock, his family, Omar and the crew of Reel Rum brought in 2 great Marlin for a quick pictureand release. Thanks for the release Andrew. The same day the Manion gang took out El Nuevo with Captain Alex and brought in a trophy Marlin. Congrats on the trophy! The Marlin kept biting yesterday as 3 more were caught and released by the Kelley party, great to have you guys on board again. See you next time.
Finally, Joseph Sanchez and his team brought in 4 great looking Marlin on Rum Runnin’.
Excellent job by all our Redrum fishing friends. Hope to see you all soon!!

The New Year started off great for the customers fishing with Redrum! We would like to congratulate Don S. and his party for bringing in the first fish of the New Year. His party brought in 3 Marlin and 4 nice sized Dorado. Great job guys. The next day, the Mellor wedding party took out four boats and caught a combined 12 Marlin, 14 Tuna, and 8 Dorado. Congratulations to the bride and groom; it is obvious their marriage will be blessed with excellent fishing! Also, Hank M. and his crew brought in 3 Marlin and 3 Dorado. Almost 20 Marlin in the first two days of the year?
Amazing. The numbers from December to January haven’t changed much as we have continued to catch large quantities of Dorado, Marlin and Tuna. We have been fishing out near Golden Gate for Dorado and Marlin while we have found the Tuna schools closer to the Lighthouse. The first week of the year the waters stayed around the 77-80 degree range. Week two brought fisherman Robert Silva and his son to Cabo and they caught 6 Dorado, 2 Wahoo, and hooked a Marlin. Not a bad day fishing guys!! The Stoakes party took out El Nuevo Redrum on the 11th and brought in more fish than they could carry off the boat! With 9 Dorado, a Wahoo and a couple of large Striped Marlin. Thank you Rick, we enjoyed having you guys on our boats. Captain Pennock brought in his first Stripped Marlin on the 12th, weighing in at over 160 pounds. The Shulz party had a great day on the 16th and brought in 2 large Marlin and a nice Sierra. Our good pal David Hughes also hooked a large marlin with his boys on El Nuevo. Mid-month, Denise Chaney brought her husband and daughter aboard Reel Rum for a half-day adventure and finished their afternoon with 4 Dorado. The Cheney’s then decided to bring some of that Dorado to Misiones De Kino for dinner. Definitely made me jealous! Our good buddy, Cabo Mike took his party out on El Nuevo and had a great time, bringing in 3 Marlin, a Dorado, and a large Red Snapper. Mr. Eric Spence
started off his fishing year with 2 nice sized caught and released Marlin, and a Dorado keeper. Your releases are much appreciated Eric! The Livingston 2-day fishing adventure started off with on a great note despite the gloomy weather. It was overcast and their was a slight rain but these guys were troopers and all the boys still managed to bag a large Wahoo, a good sized Tuna, and a Dorado. Day two brought 3 Marlin caught and released on their trip out with Omar and the crew of El Nuevo. Fill the freezer the first day and focus on those Marlin releases the second day. We like your style amigos. Livingston’s are always welcome here in Cabo, thanks for fishing with us. Dean and Mary Renford had a great time with Pablo on El Nuevo. Before the day started Dean told me he wanted Marlin, well Marlin is what he got. 4 released Marlin and a 45 lb Dorado for Dean. Thanks to all who started their New Year with Redrum and to those who we are anticipating in the future.

Sorry for the lapse in reports amigos, we had some serious computer issues after we caught our breath from the busy tournament season. Reports should be back to normal now. Late October and early November brought thousands to Cabo San Lucas for tournaments and RedRum was right there in the thick of things. Hurricane Paul threatened to wreak havoc on the area and the tournaments but in the end, it only closed the port for a day and a half. Too bad for all those who didn't ride out the storm, which was really more of a sprinkle! First up was the Bisbee Black and Blue Tournament. Skys were blue, temps were hot and boats came from all over the world for a piece of the action. The problem was that the high winds and variable sea temps that came as a result of the storm Paul, put a damper on the fishing. Lots of hook-ups over the two days: blacks, blues, stripers and more. In the end, only 3 qualifying fish made it to the scales, the biggest in the 420lb range and another in the 360lb range. Congrats to the winners for finding those two amongst the hundreds of boats out there. It wasn't all quiet aboard El Nuevo RedRum. Although not qualifiers, the anglers hooked up with a 125 lb. Striped Marlin and a 40lb Tuna. The Tuna was put to good use for a birthday dinner celebration that evening for Jennifer Donovan, an honorary member of Team Redrum. Nothing better than fresh sashimi fellas! No rest for the weary, as the Tuna Tournament was right around the corner. Out on El Nuevo and ReelRum, Redrum anglers brought in plenty of Tuna, they just couldn't find the monster that would take them to the scales. Maybe Paul scared the fish for a bit, but the bite certainly picked up post tournament time. Rick, Rich and Corey Schneider brought in 6 Dorado in one day aboard RumRunnin. And Corey wasn't sure he would like offshore fishing... I think we may have converted another freshwater fly fisherman into an offshore aficionado. Come down if you can get a chance as the weather is absolutely incredible. No need to ride out the frigid storms in the US and Canada when you could be riding out to sea with Redrum.

Well if it is Dorado you are looking for, you would have found them in abundance last week. Lucky anglers reeled in over 10 DORADO a day - REEL RUM catching the largest for KEN HENKINS of Brea, CA - see the photo gallery and have a look at Ken's great catch. DALLAS STRUBE and his party aboard EL NUEVO caught 10 large DORADO on the 1st of the month only to fish again on EL NUEVO on the 3rd catching and releasing an estimated 500 LB BLUE MARLIN – Dallas will be sending along photos soon ! RUM RUNNIN also joined in the DORADO catch with multiples over the week. Some smaller football TUNAS were caught as well. Water temperatures remain in the 85 degree average with not a cloud in the sky and the humidity barely keeping at bay - hot for humans - excellent for fish !!! The majority of catches were reported in the Lighthouse area - 5 - 15 miles off the arch as well as some good catches at Golden Gate. For all you anglers on your way, bring your strength for the big BLUES and your coolers for the DORADO......

Let us start by congratulating TOM AND CAROLYN ROSSKNECHT who boarded our first BLUE MARLIN of this summer season aboard RUM RUNNIN with Cesar and Fausto on the 8th of July. The lovely couple thought they would spend a few hours in the morning trying their had at some fishing.....a couple of hours in, slightly offshore, they got their prize of a Blue estimated at 250lbs ! Congratulations to them and thanks for the great photos that you can soon see on the photo gallery. RUM RUNNIN also spent their time over the last few weeks catching and releasing 12 STRIPED MARLIN, 4 WAHOO, 8 DORADO a SAILFISH and some small football YELLOWFIN TUNA......An excellent couple of weeks for these guys and their anglers with a few days of rest in between...........REEL RUM with RAMON AND OMAR entertained many anglers these past few weeks with the catch and release of 17 STRIPED MARLIN, 10 DORADO, 1 SAILFISH AND 12 FOOTBALL TUNA....RAMON AND OMAR made some new friends in BRITAIN SMYTHE AND HIS FATHER on their father/son three day fishing trip with REEL RUM.........congratulations on your grand catches gentlemen and we will see you again next year !.........REDRUM TOO sent anglers out a few times over the last few weeks flying their flags with 4 RELEASED STRIPED MARLIN, ONE MARLIN KEPT, 6 DORADO, 3 LITTLE FOOTBALL TUNA AND 1 WAHOO.......REDRUM TOO also entertained snorkelers for a full day of fun, sun, snorkling, swimming and a few cold beverages........The waters have remained very warm around the Sea of Cortez side, averaging in the low to mid eighties with a few whacky days of lower temps and the pacific has been slightly cooler in the mid 70's the last few days due to winds from stoms to the very far south of us........don't worry, they are headed way west ! Most fish were being caught at the 95, Cerro Colorado and Cabeza de Ballena as well as the Old Lighthouse for those who braved some choppy waters on the Pacific side..........for those of you headed down to our little slice of paradise, dont' forget your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and a few more changes of t-shirts - it's the hot and humid season and you will be glad you have a few extra changes of clothing ! Yesterday and today, in the wee hours of the morning, we got our first 10 minutes of rain for the season ....this is not expected to last and visitors can expect few clouds in a beautiful blue sky.

No matter what you call it......DORADO, MAHI - MAHI OR DOLPHIN FISH..........they are here and they are huge..Catches have been in the 70 lb range with one report of a 78 lb monster on Sunday. continue to be plentiful as well. One large private boat brought in a BLACK MARLIN over 600 lbs about 65 miles out but they will be headed out way soon.........average water temperature over the last few days has warmed to 80 degrees all around the point and intothe Pacific. Calm seas, warm water and great fishing ..........it is the picture of Cabo that you imagine it to be........Another note to all who will be coming over the days of the Federal Election here in Mexico - the 2nd of July.........BE AWARE that access to purchasing alcohol is restricted by law though you may find some vendors who may be willing to sell it to you, be prepared and buy it early to leave in your hotel room..........

Jun 20, 2006
This past week brought a banner catch of DORADO for anglers enjoying the first of the Cabo summer heat.....DENNIS WENTWORTH and his son spent three days deep sea fishing with REEL RUM and one day panga fishing with great results and memories......They boarded and released STRIPED MARLIN, MULTIPLE DORADO AND A 30 LB GROUPER on their fishing days........TERRY WHITE and his friends enjoyed two days fishing with FAUSTO AND CESAR on RUM RUNNIN bringing in STRIPED MARLIN, DOARDO AND SOME FOOTBALL TUNA.........REDRUM TOO also caught and released TWO STRIPED MARLIN for the JAMES PARTY .............. the last few days has brought in strong winds from the Pacific, cooling the inshore waters a bit but the Pangas are reporting more ROOSTER activity in the last few days...........bigger game fish have been tougher with the sudden cooling of the water but some lucky anglers managed a few Dorado in spite of the cooler waters...........cooler waters are expected to last a couple of more days and then return to their usual summer temperatures...............

Jun 12, 2006
The waters of Cabo have finally welcomed the beginning of summer.........waters have calmed significantly and warmed up to bring us good WAHOO catches, great DORADO catches and STRIPED MARLIN in the multiples. REEL RUM caught and released 9 STRIPED MARLIN in their four fishing days last week along with 12 DORADO. FAUSTO AND CESAR ON RUM RUNNIN caught and released 12 STRIPED MARLIN for their anglers as well as 10 DORADO AND 2 WAHOO...........inshore fishing has slowed but there have been some nice grouper to be had in the 20 lb range........excellent fish tacos............ Jun 5, 2006
The last few days of this past week have brought winds from the Pacific and boy is is rough for those who dared to venture out to get some Tuna.....REDRUM boats fished exclusively on the Sea of Cortez and got their anglers a total of 18 STRIPED MARLIN and 12 DORADO......Partner boats lucked into a nice 50 lb WAHOO, STRIPED MARLIN and a couple little football TUNA..........DAVID JONES AND HIS FAMILY spent two days aboard REEL RUM and one day aboard RUM RUNNIN for a three day fishing experience, releasing multiple STRIPED MARLIN and DORADO........Water temps remain warm on the Sea side at an average of the mid to high 70s with the Pacific staying in the mid 60s range..........for those surfers who were able to enjoy the Southern Hemis of the year, they were spectacular at 2 stories high..........for the fisherman, this presented a few days of praying and chumming. Just a reminder to those who can get the "patch" before they come ..........always better safe than sorry....the winds are expected to die down over the next few days but mother nature makes that call..........All fish this past week were caught within 15 miles up the Sea of Cortez........some customers reported big Blues spotted on the surface and some jumping though reports of catches have been slim.............good to know they are here though...........should bring some exciting fishing for the upcoming anglers over the next few weeks...............

May 29, 2006
The Marlin this past week remain the outstanding catch.......actually almost exclusively Marlin were caught this week. REEL RUM, RUM RUNNIN AND REDRUM TOO caught a total of 13 STRIPED MARLIN for their anglers with only two not released ..... CONGRATULATIONS on a 200 LB STRIPER brought in by RICKY BROWN and his friends aboard RUM RUNNIN........STU COPELAND AND THE " SAN DIEGO BOYS " were back for their annual event and also enjoyed
a great day of Marlin fishing aboard REEL RUM, RUM RUNNIN and our partner boats. ......... Smaller species were few and far between this past week and when they were caught, it was usually one or two a boat............Rough waters presentedfor a couple of windy days and bait became scarce due to the rough seas ..........Water temperature remains in the 70's with the Pacific being cooled slightly by the strong West winds......The Sea of Cortez is averaging temperatures in the mid 70's throughout the week..........most fish were caught on live bait and dead bait........Fishing for anglers on Thursday presented a challenge of patience when they spotted and tossed bait to between ten and fifteen marlin in the day but they were not very hungry and hook ups were slim...........makes us wonder if it is more frustrating to see the and have them not bite than it is to not see anything at all...........the wind off the pacific has finally died down and the warm water is expected to creep back over to the Pacific in the coming days...........
