The estimated 80 degree weather, strong sun, and no wind led to a pretty good day of fishing for the Redrum boats that headed out today. El Nuevo and Rum Runnin both fished between The Lighthouse and Golden Gate, a spot that has been filled with fish for at least the last 2 months. I have seen countless Marlin released as well as almost double the amount of Dorado as compared from last year.
Today was Marlin all around! Our good local buddy Kaye Peters headed out with her family from out of town. They were an awesome group to host as some minor electrical problems in the morning postponed their departure time. After getting them out I hoped they would have a good day, as I do with all of our anglers heading out. Since I know Kaye I didn't want to have to put up with her making fun of our crews if they didn't put them on the fish! Luckily for me they were fishing with Cesar! When I saw El Nuevo come back this afternoon with 7 Marlin and 7 catch and release flags flying high I was very proud and lucky that Alex and Cesar were on that boat! They did a great job! As did the Peters for reeling in the 7 Marlin! The biggest was a little over 200 pounds pulled in by the smallest member of the party! So to Kaye, Kathy, Ryan, Austin, Lane, Nataly and April, it was a pleasure meeting you guys, take care and enjoy the stories!
Mr. Ian Slome and his son Ben almost did not make their trip to Cabo as they were held up in some nasty weather in the NYC. They're sure glad they made it down! They fished with Rum Runnin today with Javier and Lobo as Manuel has taken a small vacation for the Christmas holiday. Javier and Lobo were able to put them on 3 Stripe Marlin, all for releases. They have one more trip lined up with Rum Runnin on Wednesday to give it their best shot at some more big fish! Cheers and Congrats Slome's!
It's pretty cool that it is 3 days away from Christmas, it's 80 degrees out and sunny outside and the Marlin bite is still going "off"! I know Mark Stange and Jorge Flores are both loving reading this report as they are dressed in probably 15 layers of clothing, gloves and hats on! For the rest of you dressed in layers take down some tequila and keep thinking of us!

December 15th Fish Report
Although there aren't too many people fishing Cabo these days our boys are still have some nice luck when the oppurtunity presents!
Omar had the sole charter for Redrum today on Reel Rum. He headed out with Don England his son Brad and 2 daughters Ashley and Lindsay. They had a great day. Since Cesar had nothing going on with El Nuevo he decided to jump aboard and head out with Americo to up the chances of getting some fish. Of course, Stripe Marlin came first, one for Mr. England. Next up was Brad who caught and released a heck of a Stripe Marlin, 97"! Than the girls took their turn at one and after a little help from Cesar and Americo landed it too! Great day for the four of them! Not to mention the nice 35 pound Wahoo that they caught along with the Bull Dorado that was reeled in as well!

December 10th Report
Again, sorry for the delay folks. We just completed a weeks worth of remodeling our office down in Cabo. Although we aren't completely finished yet at least I have my computer to get behind and touch base with my anglers again!!
Some pretty gnardly winds blew in late this afternoon cooling the temperature down quite a bit. I am actually going to wear a long sleeve shirt to leave the office! I may even have to put pants and shoes on tomorrow morning, hopefully I'll be able to find my shoes... haven't used those things since last year!
Todays Report:
Captain Ramon still has the reins on El Nuevo as Alex is still out of town with his family in the mainland. He continues to wow his clients with his ability to put them on fish. With Tantrum still out of the water for her re-hauls Cesar is having a ball fishing on El Nuevo. Today the boys took out the Rice party from Red Oak, Texas. The 5 of them had a blast with Cesar as he likes to show - hands on, how to fish. Mr. Douglas Rice caught 110" 170+ pound Stripe Marlin while Mrs. Rice was able to bring one to the boat as well. Pleasure meeting you folks!
Javier and Mickey had the pleasure of fishing with Redrums very own John Donovan today! John headed out with his Attorney Jonathan Pikoff and longtime Redrum buddy Marshall Gill a.k.a Pelon. Although they really wanted to get some Dorado for the grill tonight they had a good time catching Stripe Marlin. John hooked into each of the 3 Stripe Marlin that were caught today but was nice enough to pass the rod to his buddies to let them continue the fight. "The fun part for me is too hook into the fish and I get great joy out of seeing my friends catch the fish, especially if they haven't caught one", John said. He also wanted to add that "a day on the water beats a day in the office"!!

December 3rd Fish Report
It's good to be back in the saddle...
I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was as relaxing as mine was back in South Texas. It's always good to get back to the Redrum Family here in Cabo.
It's good to see the boys are still fishing hard.
After moving Tantrum out of the water for some major rehauls Cesar has moved over as mate on El Nuevo. Ramon and Cesar fished with the Utley group this afternoon and caught plenty of Dorado. Mr. Utley boated a beautiful 51" Bull that is going to look great on his wall! Great job!
Javier and Americo were back together today on Rum Runnin as it was Mickeys day off and Americo was available because Reel Rum stayed behind for an oil change. Mr. Ray Hernandez and his friends had some pretty good luck catching 2 Stripe Marlin and a Dorado for dinner! Looks like Americo and Javier still got it!
Kent Sommer and his family came down again to fish with Redrum. He was fishing today on Red Beam with Marshall and Lobo. 3 Dorado and a Stripe Marlin made their day. They will be enjoying their Dorado and Misiones De Kino Restaurant tonight which I gurantee will be the second best highlight of their trip down here! Of course fishing with Redrum is going to be #1!!! Great too see you again Mr. Sommer.
Off to enjoy my last month in Cabo! BBQ and Mojitos for everyone!

November 24th Recap
I knew the fishing was good but man, it seems like it just keeps getting better!
To pick up where we left off on my last report...
Joey Minieville and Cesar did catch and realse 16 Stripe Marlin today at Golden Gate. I have never seen anyone happier to catch Marlin like that! It was awesome to see how happy he was when he showed into Tantrum slip as people actually had to stop because of all the flags she had on her out riggers. What I thought was funny is that Joey told me he might want to catch at least 1 Dorado for dinner tomorrow. We will see if Cesar remembers how to even catch one after the great weekend he had with Billfish!
Rum Runnin had an outstanding day with the Wilbur family. Mr. Bruce Wilburn brought his whole bunch down to do some Dorado and Tuna fishing. Dorado and Tuna is exactly what they got. Javier and Manuel took great care of them and hooked them into a school of Tuna where they pulled out about 10 Yellowfin and later in the afternoon they caught 6 Dorado! Great job guys! You have filled my freezer to the top!
The Deloney family on Reel Rum also had their fair share of Marlin as Omar and Americo really tired out mama Deloney! She was pooped after catching her Stripe Marlin as were the 2 youngsters! Awesome job guys and killer seahorse!
Mr. Bickel brought his family down from Dallas Texas to test their hand at the billfish on El Nuevo. Captain Alex was able to get each one of them (5) hooked into a Stripe Marlin before calling it a day. They had a little trouble with the last one but being that they were not going to give up nailed it and brought her to the boat for a few quick shots and a release! Nice meeting y'all!!
Off to Texas tomorrow for Turkey Day with the family! Be back in a week. Will try to keep the updates comming from home!

Late November Recap
Sorry about the delay folks. With all the fish being caught lately I've been too busy with our vacuum sealer getting everyones catch frozen!! That's a good thing!
So here it goes..
November is shaping up well with the Marlin bite still being the best we have seen it all year. I was able to spend a few days out on the water myself with Ryan and his cousin Josh. We saw more Marlin than you could imagine and we were able to hook into quite a few tiring Josh out! I had never seen Golden Gate more lively than it was these days last week and the weeks prior.
Most fish are being caught by chasing a school of live bait or catching up to the birds. The birds are almost a sure sign that there are Marlin, Tuna, or bait under them. This style, known as "run and gun", can make it pretty interesting for clients who have never experienced this type of fishing before. With this technique our anglers get to see the kind of chemistry our captains and mate share. For example, for the folks like the Fitch party, the Garcia group or Roger Jump and his friend they got to see how Javier and Manuel can work all day without really having to shout at eachother. "They seem to be on the same exact page all the time", Jay Fitch told me after his day out with the crew. Cesar and Raymond on Tantrum are a little more lively in the way they catch their fish. Just ask Kandee Baird, Mike Matthews, the Narrods, and Joey Minieville who caught heaps of Marlin while running around Golden Gate.
Whatever your method may be you could almost be guranteed to come down here and hook into some Stripe Marlin. If Marlin is not your fortay and you want to head out for Dorado.

Jim Montagna and his friends were very interested in catching some Dorado for a large dinner. They also thought it would be fun for the 3 of them to "at least catch a Marlin a piece" like Jim told me in the morning. Sure as heck, Javier picked up quite a few Dorado on the way up to Golden Gate on the troll. Once they arrived to Golden Gate Manuel went to work and hooked them into 1, 2, and 3 Stripe Marlin.
How about Tuna?? Kandee Baird and Mike Matthews are long time Redrum anglers. They love to head out with Cesar as they have grown a friendship over the years. Yesterday I had them on Reel Rum as Cesar was occupied. Although they weren't very happy with this they agreed to it and the fish gods took care of the rest! Because they were understanding of the whole situation Reel Rum was the first boat to land on a school of Porpoise that had plenty of Tuna under them. After all was said and done they landed 11 Yellowfin Tuna all over 30 pounds! Mike had to leave some meat behind as he had filled his cooler to the brim! Great job guys!
Back to Cesar on Tantrum. Joey Minieville from Lousiana came down to do some "Marlin Fishing". "That is all I want, the more the better, I am going to release each one of them but Marlin Marlin Marlin" he told me. I knew he came to the right place and especially on the right boat. Cesar headed out with Joey yesterday and they caught and released 8 Stripe Marlin. Mr. Minieville could not believe his day and was extremely happy with the outcome. Cesar just radioed me a little while ago and said that his clients were comming back and were very disappointed. He told me I should get ready for an a** chewing when they returned. When I began to ask him why he began to laugh with Joey in the back ground saying "'cause we only caught and released 16 Marlin" in his LA. accent! Needless to say I hung up on them. Cesar is always a good time!
With Omar on Reel Rum and Alex out on El Nuevo I will have a full report later this afternoon but some people like Jorge Flores just can't wait for of our boats to get back before a report! HAHA enjoy my friends!!

Captain Cesar Rides Marlin for Release
After this young Marlin came up to the boat very tired and slow Cesar thought it would be best to try to revive her. We tried the manual way but it did not work and Cesar offered to get in the water to move it around and pump some air back in her gills. This is the video we caught of it and glad to say the Marlin was fine and fully reenergized.
