First Blue Marlin of the year!

3 day weekend People! How are ya'll gonna celebrate this 4th of July?
I don't know if they do anything here in Cabo?? I mean there are a lot of tourists....at least a firework display on the beach on Sunday?? Guess I will have to be out there searching for some fun that day...

Ryan and Brooke, are out in Nebraska on a well deserved vacation and afterthat they are heading to Boston for a week. AWESOME, hope they are having fun visiting their respective families.

All has been great here in Cabo, can't get much better than this! This month started off like a rocket, we've been booking a lot of boats and that is something we are very thankful for. You are all such loyal customers.

Weather is nice here, a bit windy but nothing that has stopped us from catching fish! We're still striking Marlin, Tuna and Dorado, and 3 days ago we caught our very first Blue Marlin which weighed 200 Lbs!

I will give a fish report quickly because I have not done so in the last couple of days. I've been very busy guys! you know the story =)

June 29th:

RumRunnin: Jason Poe and his crew went out with Captain Javier and Mate Americo and came back with 1 Marlin!

Nuevo: Alan Shank went out for a second day of fishing and came back with 1 Blue Marlin, 1 Striped Marlin and 2 Yellofin tuna that were 25 Lbs each, The striped Marlin was 120 Lbs.

Tantrum: Ken Lester, Brandt, Douglas and Melissa went out for half a day and came back with 1 Marlin 80 inches and 1 Rooster fish that was 45 " they got the Rooster fish Mounted, Melissa did an awesome job reeling it in! Brandt reeled in the Marlin, nice Job guys!

June 30th,

Pescado III. Joseph Raia came back victorious after his party reeled in 2 Marlin, all of them very nice folks by the way! awesome guys!

Tantrum: Scott and Lisa Miliam were not left behind, they reeled in a marlin as well on their full day of fishing with captain Ramon and Mate Juan. Nice work people.

RumRunnin: On this day Captain Javier and Mate Americo took Jennifer Waddell and her party on a great journey that ended up in catching and releasing 2 striped Marlin. Sweet!

And last but not least Jeff Beavis who fished aboard ReelRum for half a day reeled in 2 Roosterfish and 1 Amberjack. Keep on rockin' guys!

Monday's Marlin Round-up

Today was a beautiful day on the water, as the winds from yesterday were long gone. Everyone reported super smooth seas with just enough breeze to make it enjoyable out there. Water temps have stayed in the mid to high 70's and the bait fisherman are even starting to sell a few Mackeral. For those of you that don't know, when the Mackeral arrive each year it usually is a sign that we'll start catching more and more Marlin.

Alfred Menard and his wife Vickie from Starks, Louisiana joined us today aboard TantRum. An avid Bass fisherman back in the States, Alfred was really looking forward to battling something bigger than 10 lbs. Well, we certainly took care of that! Juan and Ramon pitched bait to several fish before the fish of a lifetime for Alfred, took the bait. Alfred did battle with a huge Striped Marlin, a much bigger fish than we normally catch here (striped marlin speaking) that was in the 240lb class. Alfred and Vickie couldn't say enough about how great the crew was and they are even looking into a replica of Alfred's "fish of a lifetime."

Dan Banales, his sons Chad and Jason and Chad's fiance Cheryl joined the guys on ReelRum today in search of some Marlin as well. It didn't take long for Captain Jesus to get the guys hooked into a nice 120lb Striped Marlin. While they spotted several more fish througout the day, the first fish was the only one interested in eating the bait.

Finally, we had the Shank family aboard El Nuevo RedRum. Alan, Kelly, Ilene and Jim had a phenominal day on the water, each able to catch and release a Striped Marlin. It's not often that everyone on the boat gets to catch their own Marlin, but today was one of those lucky days for the Shanks. Alex and Manuel were the Captain and Mate today and they did a great job getting everyone hooked up.

NO HURRICANE ALERT...CABO SAFE =)

Hi Peeps!

Hope all is fine where ever you are, we can't complain, business is getting better and better...Thanks to all of you who have recommened us to your friends! We've been receiving a lot of compliments on the fish reports...thanks you guys! I appreciate it. Will keep on having you up to date with the 411 in Cabo!

Yesterday we had a total of 6 boats out and came ended with 15 fish caught in total. Awesome weather in cabo and for all of those who might be concerned about the hurricanes...don't worry we will not be seeing any hurricanes here in the next few weeks. HURRICANE DARBY WILL NOT HIT CABO! so pack your bags and fly to Cabo!!!!! come join the fun with all of us!

Yesterday's trip with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan on Tantrum wen't very good as Ryan Avedisian and his pals fished the pacific. These folks from Fresno Cali, did a great job in reelin' in 1 Dorado and C&R a Striped Marlin. Awesome guys who enjoyed a trip a lot!

Father and Son Jim & Matt Philips went fishing on RedBeam along with Captain Cesar and Mate Ramon. After several phone calls Jim agreed to do a private charter instead of a shared one...it was a bit hard to find a match. These guys who are also from Fresno, finished their day with a 150 Lbs Striped Marlin! Nice job..keep on rockin'!

Jack Lahger and his party of 13 fished with us on ReelRum, Grey Light and RumRunnin. Jack is John's nephew and Ryan's Cousin. These gentlemen had a superb day out with RedRum ended up with a total of 10 Yellowfin Tuna and 2 Striped Marlin. NICE!!!

Greeting from Cabo!

Hey people we're back and doing better than ever. As you might know (if you came fishing with us in this month) fishing has been awesome! we've been striking Marlin, Tuna and Dorado mostly. Other fish such as Rooster and Skipjack are also biting but not as hard as the first 3. The weather here in Cabo is superb! nice and warm. Sea temperatures are above 70F meaning that there are plenty of fish in the ocean =)

Of course there are some boats which did not come back with anything but they still enjoyed the ride and they did mention that it was because the fish were not biting too well, our crew worked very hard and its good that you guys are aware of this. It's funny but one of our customers, who was not so lucky, came back with a smile in his face and said: "It started slow...and it got slower" we started laughing because we thought his answer was going to be it started slow but it got better, this was something that just had to go on the fish report.

Something that made me burst into laughter was the fact the a person walked in asking for information to go out fishing and after a small talk he asks me if I'm Cuban....don't know where he got that idea from I mean, I know I am a latino (Mexican-American) but Cuban??? I don't think I look like one LOL, just thought I'd share that with ya'll.

On Nuevo we had Stan Rosenberg and his party of 6 fishing with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. These guys from Colorado and Texas reeled in their max. number allowed of Tuna...18! so you can imagine how packed they took off today when they came to pick it up! they enjoyed everything and had an awesome time. They fished on the Pacific side passed the arches.

Troy Meyers wen't out on RedBeam with Captain Cesar and Mate Ramon, unfortunately their trip was cut short because of what we call "Muerte Blanca" or White Death basically reffering too seasickness =), even though they came back early they did reel in 1 Marlin by the lighthouse! nice going!

Randy McConville and his party were out with Captain Javier and Mate Omar on RumRunnin and after a full day of fishing and a slow morning they ended up reelin in 15 yellowfin tuna a 1 Marlin. Not bad at all. They decided to take the fish to get it cooked up somewhere they know. Hope they enjoyed the meal! Thanks guys!

On the 53' Joel Fortney, who is getting married today, went out for a full day with all his pals for one of the last trip with the guys before he says the big I DO. Congrats on the weddding by the way, so these guys had an awesome time with Captain Mike aboard Missing Lenk, perfect boat for a special event. They came back with 2 yellowfin tuna. Awesome and don't get cold feet!!

and last but not least we had Dennis Garcia, Jeff and Steve DelaCruz on a panga for 5 hours. The Panga is named Killer. These guys cambe back with 1 Marlin and 2 Skipjacks.

Return of the Rutherford's....

Today we had the return of the Rutherford's. The Rutherford and Dickey clans were back at it today, minus a few of the young grandchildren who opted to stay home with Grandma Sandra. I love fishing as much as the next guy, but I can't blame these little munchkins. If Sandra was my grandma, I would have no problem skipping a day on the water to hang out with her by the pool. What a wonderfully sweet woman.

That being said, most of the clan wanted to head out in search of some Tuna. Of the 3 boats, 2 made a long run up towards the Golden Gate Bank, came back towards the Jaime Bank and finally fished the Lighthouse Bank as well. After spotting 3 different schools of Porpoise, the Captains and Clans decided Tuna weren't in the cards and tried their luck with some Marlin. 1 Marlin was brought in. Grandpa Johnny was the smart one today, was their ever any doubt, as he and his boat decided to fish the Sea of Cortez where they got two random Tuna hook-ups and 2 catch and release Marlin. True to form, Grandpa was the provider today, bringing home some real nice filets from the 2 Yellowfin he caught. Can't wait to see you guys back down here in the fall! oh, and give Sandra a big hug for me in case I don't get to see her before I leave.

Karloff Talorda and Margharita, his lovely wife, joined us today for their first time offshore fishing. Celebrating their 1st anniversary, they were really excited to get out on the water. So excited, in fact, that they were here before 5am, not sure of how long it would take to get to the Marina. Unfortunately, they spent more time waiting for their charter this morning than they did on the water. They weren't feeling too well and hour into the trip and came back around 8am. Next time maybe try some of that amazing sea-sickness medicine, Scopace.

Monday's Marlin Report

Today was Marlin, Marlin and more Marlin. The Stripers decided to wake up today with everyboat catching at least one fish. The Marlin have not been all that hungry recently, so it was nice to see them liven up a bit and start to take some of the live bait we threw their way.

Dick Belch, Alan Golebiewski, his brother Rick Golebiewski and John Powell joined the guys on ReelRum today and they were able to get one nice Marlin to the boat for some pictures. These guys are headed back out on Thursday to see if we can get a few more fish to the boat.

Had a chance to meet Scott Gorczyca and his lovely new bride today and they are awesome people. Someone wasn't thrilled about getting up at 5:30am, not naming names, but she was a trooper and ended up having a great day on the water. Scott came in to tell me how impressed he was with both crews he fished with this week, and even though the fishing was tough, he said the guys busted their butts. Music to my ears! The Gorczyca's landed a nice 6 foot Mako shark today, which they shared graciously with the crew, the rest we vacuum sealed for them to take back and share with their friends in Arizona. Hope to see you guys back down here soon!

Judy Knight and Steve Stivaly fished with us last year and they had such a good time they came back again this year, all the way from New Jersey. Today they fished with Ramon and Juan from TantRum and they caught and released a nice Marlin and also landed a Dorado. Hope to see you again next year guys!

Russell Landry and his boys Adam and Jarryd were down for a Father/Son fishing trip and they stumbled upon RedRum Sportfishing. Russell said he was tired of being pitched bait from every coyote on the Marina and was happy with our "all inclusive" pricing and up front information. The Landry's had a great day on the water catching and releasing 2 Striped Marlin. The Landry's loved their crew, and said they would definitely be back.

Finally, we had the Rutherford/Dickey crew. Too many names to mention, but basically it we had a couple John's, a few Tracie's, and a plethora of Sandra's grandkids. Sandra and Johnny stayed with us on a Play and Stay last year and may even be back for another this year, but this time around they needed a private home for the massive family reunion/fathers day trip they took. How cool is it when a whole extended family can come down together and fish for a few days. The families split up on three different boats and everyone got into the Marlin. They'll be back at it tomorrow, for round two, in search of some Tuna nonetheless for dinner.
