RedRum is here to give you the report for the first two days of March 2011
As the days go by the temperature here in Cabo keeps rising. We're still no where near the 100F but in a month or so we probably will be.
This month has started off with high 83F and low 70's, sea levels are 3-4 ft at 16 seconds and the average wind speed is 10-20 MPH.
Fishing right now has been taking place on the Golden Gate Bank and the Jaime Bank.
The pacific side is where you want to go fishing as the sea temperature there has been quite warm these past couple of days.
On March 1st we had two of our boats go out fishing.
Larry Tait and his crew from New Jersey fished with Captain Omar and Mate Manuel on the 33' Nuevo. Throughout their fishing trip they came across several sierras and landed 10 of them with an average weight of 15 Lbs. They also caught a Yellowtail about 10 Lbs. Had a striped Marlin on the line but in the end it got away.
Kent Eikenberry, Thomas Butler, Patsy Butler and Nadine L. Eikenberry also had a great time in the water. While they were coming in I thought they had caught nothing but it turns out that they also had a total of 2 Yellowtails.
On March 2nd
Our first group started off with a shared boat Harley and Virginia Maurer from Neudorf,Canada and Glenn Smith from Portland Oregon fished on RumRunnin with our crew Javier and Jesus. It was a good day in the water for this shared group, they landed a total of 4 Sierras.
And last but not least Return Customer James Halbur with his party of 4 formed by David Orcutt, David Schooff, David Naples and Jim Lewis fished on Nuevo with Captain Alex and mate Jesus. Their morning started off with tossing a coin to see who would be the first one to reel them in. In the end James Halbur won and got to land the Tuna. They caught a total of 5 yellowfin with an average weight of 10-15 Lbs on the Pacific.

Monday's Monster Yellowtail
Today (Monday,) the wind really died down and it was a much nicer day on the water and around the Marina.
I am running out the door right now, going home to pack for the Houston Fishing Show which runs from Wednesday the 2nd through Sunday the 6th at the George Brown Convention Center. I will also be at the Louisiana Sportsmen's Show from the 11th through the 13th at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana. Please stop by and say hello if you are in the area.
I won't go into too much detail about today but I do have a nice photo to show you guys what the action was all about today. A total of 11 of these big Yellowtails were caught.

Seriously Wind? Cut it out!
Windy as a beast this morning (Sunday,) Palm trees were all over the place, I have to give credit to our fishermen for even showing up this morning. As the saying goes in Spanish for Cabo weather, "Febrero Loco y Marzo un Poco." February is crazy and March a little. Never know sometimes with this early spring weather.
Anyway, Mike and Linnar Bies along with friends Daniel Lowell and Heath Frisby from Colorado Springs joined Ramon and Juan aboard TantRum. They wanted to focus on Billfish and they certainly did. Unfortunately, they couldn't hook one. They threw bait to 3 Striped Marlin and a Swordfish. That makes about 5 Swordfish sitings in the past week. Anyone up for an all night charter?
Craig and Cynthia Kinnie and Jim and Alla Schroder decided hugging the coastline in the windy weather was more their style. They played around with some Bonita and Jack Crevalle and were content with that.

February is almost gone and fishing is getting better.
We had another great day in Cabo yesterday.
Karen and Dean Hicke from Canada fished for a full day with Ramon and Juan on Tantrum, our 28' Californian that most of you already know. They fished off by Gordo Bank and had a stupendous day in the water. They came back with 14 Sierras, 1 Yellowtail and 1 Rossterfish. Congrats you guys!
We also had Sean Tennis and Greg Kasuske fishing on RedRum and they also fished same spot as Tantrum but on RedRum with Omar. By the end of the day these guys had caught a total of 8 sierra, 2 yellowtail and 1 bonita.

George Giambanis from New Jersey fished on Tantrum for a second time on Feb. 24th. He went out with Captain Ramon and Mate Jesus. Had a great time out in the water and decided to go after smaller stuff. His catch of the day was 10 Sierras.
Mike and Kimya Harris along with Lara and Chip Terry and 4 kids fished on our 33' Nuevo with Captain Alex and mate Manuel. This super cool group had an awesome time fishing out by the Gordo bank and by the end of the day they had caught 2 nice yellowfin tunas weighing around 35 Lbs each. They also spotted a Marlin but unfortunately it got away before it bit! I hope the kids like our RedRum shirts and hopefully they'll be showing it off!
Last but not least Victor Peterson , Michael Melanson, Michelle Hatata and Dylan Melanson fished aboard our 31' RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. After some of the crew decided to chum the entire time, 16 yr old Dylan from Orangeville Ca, reeled in an 8ft Striped Marlin weighing around 170 Lbs or more making him the happiest teenager of the day! Hope you guys send over the pics!

9ft - 150 Lb Striped MARLIN!
That's right we did a 9ft 150 Lb Striped Marlin yesterday during an 8 hour fishing trip with Steve Preece, Wendy Popp, Carley Pop and Corey Popp.
If you've been following our fish report for the past year you might remember this family as they were here during the Tsunami alert last Feb. Well they decided to come back and give it another shot and they had a TERRIFIC! day out in the water.
24 yr old Corey Popp decided to join the family this time and had his first fishing experience with RedRum. After a full day of fishing Corey landed a 9 ft 150 Lb Striped Marlin. It took him around 30 min but in the end it was well worth it! This awesome pal was so happy when he came back to the office. Their positive vibes were all around. They're plannin on coming down probably in October and if not again this time next year. Congratulations Corey you did a great job!!! I saw the picture they took and I hope they send it in along with the videos because it's really worth showing off!
Thanks you guys for fishing with us again...No Tsunami alert this time!!!
Tony Willy from Colorado along with his son Brian had a great day out with Captain Omar and mate Americo. These guys caught a total of 2 (30 lbs) yellowfin and a Wahoo that was 35 Lbs. Good to know and read that the big ones are coming back to Cabo. It's because the water temp is also rising.
Last but not least from Alamosa, Colorado we had Ed and Carla Smith fishing fur a full day on Tantrum. They came back into the office really stoked and exicted about their fantastic fishing trip. They just wanted to catch fish and so they did. They caught a total of 2 yellowfin tunas (20 Lbs) and 10 Sierras.
Glad to know they had a sharp day out with Ramon and Jesus!

Fish Report Feb. 22nd
Hello Hello!
Hey guys I'm here to give you a recap of what's been going on these past couple of days in RedRum.
So it seems that Tuna is back in business as we've been having successful days going after and making them bite. As you probably read on Monday's fish Report they're big!
Tuesday Feb. 22
Steve and Linda Reitz, Dennyse and Mike White fished on our 31' RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. Awesome folks who had a great day in the water spending more time inshore fishing than offshore. They basically wanted to catch something instead of going too far and coming back empty handed (smart choice!) This group caught a total of 22 Sierra. (Sierra bite is great this time of year)
Super Cool Gladding family fished on tantrum for 5 hours. Annie, Katie, Nick and John had a blastin' time landing sierras. I got a word from our Captain that the kids Katie and Nick had lots of fun out there! This family came in on a Cruise Ship so they couldn't keep any of the fish they caught. Still didn't stop them from taking back a GREAT memory of RedRum Sportfishing. We sure hope they fish with us again during their next trip to Cabo!
Mark and Joe Moran along with Tommy, Greg, Ben, Bryson and Branson Morgan fished on El Nuevo, our 33' boat with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. These guys decided to go after Tuna and came back with 5 yellowfin weighing about 35-40 Lbs each and 3 skipjacks. They had an awesome time out in the water and we're all super cool guys.
