After a couple of great days of fishing for Redrum the boys are going to have to "go back to the charts". The fish drastically moved from yesterday and the day before as that is where the boats headed out today with little to no success. Tomorrow is another day and we will make up for it!
Todays report:
The Hooten party went out on their 2nd day on El Nuevo and caught a Tuna for dinner!
Javier and Manuel had a late take off, at 11:00 John Erickson and his party of 6 decided they were going to head out on Rum Runnin. They were back by 2:00pm and had a nice sized Stripe Marlin for a catch and release. Good job guys!
Reel Rum and Tantrum both had slower days as they saw a lot of fish today but had tough luck bringing anything to the boat.
The temperature charts show promising water around the 95 spot which is where the boys headed today. Obviously we are going to have to figure a new plan of attack to get on the fish tomorrow!

March 26th Fish Report
Another great day on the water for Redrum boats and anglers. The 1150 spot and a little outside 95 is where we have had some great fishing lately. Warm waters have kept the Tuna around for a couple of weeks now and the squid that were in last week have taken off and given room for Marlin!
Todays Report:
Alex had Mr. Doug Rubino out for the day on El Nuevo. They had a variety of fish as they reeled in 2 Dorado, 2 Yellowfin Tuna, and 2 Stripe Marlin.
Ramon took out Rum Runnin with Manuel for the day. Jeremy Gilliam had the time of his life with his wife and children. They also hooked into 2 Dorado, pulled up in front of a school of porpoise and caught 8 Yellowfin and Jeremy had the chance to reel in a 95" Stripe Marlin which he will have put up in his house! Congrats and enjoy the mount buddy.
Omar continued his hot streak on ReelRum as he was able to take Tuna seekers Tina Blum and her husband. Tuna is what they wanted and definately is what they got. They brought 10 Yellowfin to the boat and released another handful before heading back in! Enjoy the fish.
Mike & Brent from TX we at it again this morning. Brent told me he had never been so sore in his life! That's what a 3 hour fight with a 260 Swordfish will do to a grown man, and not a tiny man either! The two headed out on Tantrum for Marlin. Cesar - a little under the weather with a fever- was able to put them into 3 nice Stripe Marlin before bringing in the tired out gang!
Lets hope the fishing stays solid for all those comming down to fish with us in April!!!

March 25th Fish Report
What a great day for fishing. The Tuna bite has continued to be over the top lately with each boat landing at least 15 Tuna.
El Nuevo brought back 7 nice Yellowfin Tuna and were able to land 10 more. Kirk Hooten and his group are going to test there hands again with Alex and Juan and hopefully land a Stripe Marlin!
Cesar had an awesome day with Mr. Saucier and his buddy. They were able to catch and release a Stripe Marlin, the first for Cesar in over a few weeks. They also caught 2 Dorado and 10 Yellowfin. I ran into them at dinner and they seemed to have been enjoying life very much!!
It was great meeting them and we hope to see them back soon!

First Swordfish in Redrum History!
We are excited to say that Redrum Sport Fishing boated their first ever Swordfish yesterday on what better boat than the one that has been in the fleet since the beginning... REEL RUM!!!!
Mike Fritchie and Brent Bottinger from Georgetown, TX headed out with ReelRum in search for Tuna. Omar spotted a school of Porpoise about a mile in size! Sure enough all 4 rods went off at once, tuna, tuna, tuna, for about half an hour. All of a sudden Jesus spotted what he thought was a Marlin feeding behind the school of Tuna. Omar whipped the boat around to give Jesus the best position to cast the live bait.
The first pitch was unsuccesful and the boys thought they may have blown their chance at the so called Marlin. Until Jesus spotted the fish again, this time a little closer and yelled to Omar "Pez Espada" which means Swordfish. He pitched the bait again and BAM the Swordfish slammed on the bait and took off almost taking the rod, reel, and Jesus with him.
Omar backed the boat down and Jesus made sure the fish was securely hooked before handing the pole over to Brent. Being that this was Mr. Bottinger's first time ever deepsea fishing he had no idea what to expect. The only thing he had caught prior to this trip was a piece of drift wood while fishing with his buddies for Striper Bass (sorry Brent, had to say it!!).
Brent got the fish to the boat 3 or 4 times and each time the fish would take off again full of energy and strnght. Straight down for 100's of yards and than out. Omar said he ran the boat in circles, backing down and positioning ReelRum as well as he could. About 2 hours into the fight the boys thought the had a chance to gaff the fish, as Jesus went for the gaff he noticed the fish was still very tense and did not want to mess up their chances of landing this fish. He let the liter loose and the fish took off again - straight down! One hour later they got the fish to liter, and were finally able to gaff the Swordfish. "Brent was so exhausted I thought he was going to faint" Mike told me later.
After it was all said and done, the Swordfish weighed a monster 260 lbs and measure 116" long. We are very proud of Omar and Jesus and of course Brent and Mike for doing such a great job with the fish. We are happy to share this accomplishment with them and can't wait to see pictures of that very special mount!
Brent, I know your son has got to be the proudest boy in the world! CONGRATS!

March 21st Redrum Sport Fishing
Not a lot has changed since last report! The YellowTail and Yellowfin bite has continued to be very good up and around the Jimmy Bank area.
Giant squid have moved in again which has kind of slowed down the Marlin bite. The Redrum Anglers catching 3 or 4 of them per boat per day. You would be suprised how strong, heavy and quick these squid are to reel in.
Nuevo 18 Yellowfin Tuna today with Mr. Sherman and his group. Javier and Rum Runnin also caught 18 Yellowfin with Mr. Johnson and his family. Tantrum wasn't too far behind after catching 17 Yellowfin.
Reel Rum had a half-day from a cruise ship and we able to find the squid as well as a Sierra.
Shouldn't be long for the Marlin bite to pick up again. Can't wait.

Tuna up to our ears... and another Swordfish sighting
El Nuevo had 10, TantRum 16, Rum Runnin 7, and "Muerte Blanca" for the Spring Breakers on ReelRum. That translates to, too many tequila shots last night and throwing up on the boat all morning. Our new partner boat, The Red Beam caught 10 Tuna and sighted some billfish, finally.
The boys chased a few Marlin, and saw a nice Swordfish. None of the billfish were hungry, unfortunately.
Keep your fingers crossed though. Luis and I are heading out in the morning, going to chase some Tuna and hopefully finding another of those Swordfish.

Yellow Fin Tuna Frenzy!!
Utpoia headed out for a half day trip with Mr. Mark Zitzewitz and his friend "Pedro". They brought along their wives and kids and had a great time with Captain Rene. They were able to reel in 9 Yellow fin Tuna on their 5 hour trip. All the children were excellent fishermen and had a blast on the 54' boat! It was nice meeting you and we hope to see you soon.
Omar and Jesus on ReelRum were not too far behind Utopia. Lori Miller and her friends caught and released 7 Yellowfin on their day out on the water. Lori made a last second reservation with me over the internet and was glad she did!
Tantrum and Jessica Brooks headed out along with family for a day out on the water. Americo led the boat today as Cesar took a day of rest. He handled the boat well with Juan and got the Brooks party plenty of Yellowfin on their day out on the water.
Javier on Rum Runnin had a chance at a few Marlin but none of them would take the bait for the McCorkell party today. They stil ended up with 6 Yellowfin Tuna and a heck of a lot of memories to add to their Spring Break '08!!
Unfortunately El Nuevo missed out on the Yellowfin Tuna bite today due to Maintenance work. Red Beam stepped up and took out John Ewaski and his group of buddies. They were very happy when they came back into the office to buy their shirts and flags after catching over 10 Yellow fin and 3 Dorado! I was told by John that the crew was very hard working and really excited to be part of the Redrum fleet!
There have been reports of several Swordfish being caught around the area lately as I have heard of 3 in the last week or so. This is very exciting to us since we do not always get to see Swordfish in our area anymore. There was one in particular that weighed over 500 pounds from what I heard around the Marina last week.
