Today was Sunday school for the crews of RedRum. Owner John Donovan arrived on Sat. with some new "kites" for yet another something new to fishing in Cabo. All four crews went out on El Nuevo to practice the new "kite" fishing. The training went very well, so now when you get to Cabo and want to try something new, RedRum will have it for you.
We also loaded the boats with some new bumper teasers and high speed lures - make sure the crew puts the "high speed" lure in the water on the way out to the fishing grounds and back to the marina.
We are always looking for ways to improve your day on the water.

8 Marlin and calling it a day!
The temperatures on land and under water have begun to increase. Our anglers had the opportunity to not only score a tan today under our sunny sky at 97 degrees Fahrenheit, they also got plenty of opportunity to catch a Marlin, or two or three. Water temperatures today reached 74 degrees by the shoreline and 76 degrees out by point 1150 on the sea of Cortez.
Patrick and his three friends from California were hurting just a little this morning when they arrived but took on the choppy waters like champs. Going out on our 28’ ReelRum with Omar and Americo, Patrick and his friends caught and released a Striped Marlin.
Out on day one of two, Joe and his wife Karen went out on our 32’ RumRunnin with Javier and Manuel. They also headed east on the Cortez side and caught 2 Marlin. A nice practice round for fishing and RedRum veterans who will be joining us for the Billfish tournament in October.
The Bourgeois group went out for their second day with us on our 33’ El Nuevo and matched yesterdays score adding 3 more Striped Marlin to their total!
Ted and friends joined Marcial and Fabian on our 32’ RedBeam and caught and released 2 Striped Marlin, also on the Cortez side.
If you ever wanted to catch your own Marlin now is the time!

Mucho Marlin
Swine Scare Update:
Humans and fish alike are as healthy as can be. Tourist fill the streets as restaurants, bars, shops and all activities are up and running. If you’re thinking of taking a trip south, Cabo is the place to be.
Three boats went out today and each caughtr and released Marlin.
Out on our 28’ ReelRum with 2008 Tuna Tournament crew champs Omar and Americo was John and his three buddies. They headed out to the sea of Cortez and caught 2
Striped Marlin using live bait.
Also fishing on the Cortez side were Javier and Fabian aboard our 32’ RumRunnin’ with Scott. This last minute trip scored him a nice sized Striped Marlin as well.
Fishing aboard our 33’ El Nuevo were the Bourgeois. They booked their trip through a charitable auction benefitting CCA and are enjoying our Play and Stay package. Alex and Ramon headed to the sea of Cortez close to point 1150. Water temperature was between 73-74 degrees Fahrenheit and winds were low. By 9am the group caught 2 Striped Marlin using live bait and a 3rd Marlin came in around noon using a lure. Besides the three that they caught and released the group saw many more Marlin as well as black Porpoise, feasting on squid.

I need to send Alex a small package.
Most importantly, on behalf of Renea and myself, we wanted to express our "Texas sized" appreciation of our recent stay in Cabo San Lucas and just how great the time was had!
Very few trips of this kind have all the expectations met. Our trip to Cabo with Redrum was one of those trips where every expectation was just not exceeded, but overwhelmed.
From the morning taco lady, the boat crews, guest chef, massage lady, and the condo, plus marlin and roosterfish.....what a fantastic trip.
We appreciate your efforts and wish you and Ryan the best of success!

Sharon's First Dorado
Just a special thank you for such a wonderful time with Omar and Americo. My sister and I had a great time. We had no idea what we were doing, and now that we tried our hands at deep sea fishing, we are convinced that wecouldn't have pulled in a Marlin if our lives depended on it, but just being out with the two of them on a beautiful day, on the beautiful Cabo waters and the warm Cabo sunshine was a real treat. I did happen to pull in a 30-40 pound Dorado, which was the highlight of my vacation. What a hoot!!! The guys were real gentlemen and did everything to make our trip very pleasant. I'm sure they got a huge kick out of our ignorance, but we didn't care, we had so much fun. If we ever have the opportunity to visit Cabo in the future,we will definitely call you again. Just a side note, we called another charter that was highly recommeded to us, but they never responded. Thanks so much for your response and your excellent service andaccomodations!

Big Tuna still out there....
Marshall hosted some friends from John Hennigin's Fish Talk Radio today and they were in search of Tuna and Dorado. They caught one Dorado before finding a school of Tuna feeding on the surface. Once they got to the fish, they had a double hook-up for a short time, before losing one of the fish. The one that "didn't get away" was a nice 40-45lb Yellowfin. Sounds like some nice steaks for the BBQ at Hennigin's condo.
Manuel and Javier fished with John and Charlene Heather, Keith and Michelle McDonald, and Dominic and Tina Burke, all down from Washington. The ladies were able to keep from getting sick, which I know they were worried about, in part because of the perfectly calm waters today, and in part from the fish they were catching. They headed offshore first thing and got the big Striped Marlin catch and release out of the way. Next, while trolling back towards shore they landed a nice Dorado. And, finally, while doing some inshore fishing they caught a nice Grouper and a Triggerfish varietal. Great day guys, be sure to send us some pics so we can get them up on the web.
Finally, on El Nuevo, we had a long time RedRum client and VIP, Mr. John Heitkamp and his two buddies Clint and Virgil. John has been fishing with RedRum for over 10 years and can even remember far enough back to a time when our fleet manager George actually got on a boat from time to time as Captain of the original 31' Bertram RedRum. The guys spotted a ton of fish, and were able to catch and release one Marlin and also landing a nice sized Dorado. Thanks for coming back to see us John, and give a call to John Donovan next time you are up in San Marcos.
