We could do better...

Hello Everyone

Hope you guys are having an excellent day.

I thought things would get a bit better here in Cabo San Lucas (fishing wise) but I spoke too soon. These past days, as you've probably already read, have just been like going downhill. The fish do not want to bite. Offshore fishing is...not good at all. I mean yeah yesterday there was 3 Dorado caught but we'd expect more. Truth is...catching something is not always guaranteed in fishin'!

Inshore, is not as bad as offshore fishing, but it's not great either! I have to be honest with everybody and I can't say "ohh yes, fishing was excellent yesterday" if I know it wasn't, so I am just being honest with all of you.

Yesterday, we had 6 boats out in the water and only a few came back with their catch

On Ziggy and El Nuevo we had for a second and last day Jimmy Zientek and Luke Robinson's party coming back with 3 Dorado and 1 Yellowfin. On their first day which was Sunday, they did not catch a thing, but luckily yesterday things seemed to have been better...in all ways! Thank you guys and I hope you're enjoying your stay at the Portofino Condos!

On our 32' RedBeam we had Dane and Lisa Schindler from Minnesota reeling in a 15Lbs Yellowfin...These guys weren't sure if they wanted to have it fixed for them or take it back home. Whatever their decision was I know they had fun and mostly because it's not common to see sailfish this time of the year so kudos for that buddies!

On Anzuelo we had Todd Leveridge and his guys out by the golden gate bank, and came back with 6 Sierras (Spanish Mackeral), 8 in total but two of them got away..Great guys! Hope to see you around soon!!

I want to thank Scott and Christine Donaldson, who came fishing with us on the 16 of February, for sending in their picture while catching their biggest fish that day! Scott told me Christine was still beaming about the battle that it put up! Someone said it was 10-15 Lbs.

Happy Saturday!

Hello all!
Hope you're enjoying the weekend! We are Here in cabo, we have a warm weather but a bit windy...I'd say 15-20 mps.

We have John Donovan, owner of RedRum, visiting us here in Cabo , for those who don't know him I can simply say he is one cool guy. I had not met John personally, as I've only been working here for almost a month now but Yesterday I finally got to meet him. Everyone kept asking for him and telling me how cool he was and all and yesterday I finally got to see why everyone likes him so much! He'll be kickin' it here with us for around 2 weeks, planning to go out fishing with Ryan on the 26th...father-son bonding! "Salud" to that guys!!

Well, after sounding like I'm kissin' a** here, let's get back to the fish report for today!
There were only 3 RedRum boats out today, Rum Runnin', RedBeam and El Nuevo.

On RumRunnin' we had the Holste party from Wisconsin who only reeled in 1 Dorado and 1 Rooster. Better luck next time guys. Hope ya'll come again real soon.

On RedBeam we had out buddy Steve Sheridan with his lady Tracy and son Steven Jr. These guys were out by the arch and had 2 marlin just swimmin' around the boat but none of them were biting so, they got away! They did catch 1 Dorado and a Yellowfin, so it wasn't all that bad! and while coming back to the Marina, a Pelican thought Tracy's blond hair was some sort of fish that it was aiming for her head! luckily she reacted just in time before the big hit! LOL. Thank you guys, send us your pics as soon as you get settled back in Seatle. See you next year.

And last but not least we had, for a second day of fishing, Steve Parra and his party of five. They were on our 33' El Nuevo and came back with 1 dorado, 1 skipjack and they also caught and released 2 Marlin.
At least we know Marlins are coming back!

Keeps getting better!

Hi Guys.

Here's the update on today's fishing report.
We had 3 boats out (Rum Runnin', Grey Light and El Nuevo) by the 95 bank, the Arch and the lighthouse once again.

Aboard Rum Runnin' was Niki Copeland, Mackenzie, Cody and William. They caught and released a Sailfish, 15 Sierra, 1 Dorado and 1 Grooper. Not bad at all! It's the second time they come fishing with us. They're interested in catching yellowfin so they might be coming back during the best season (May-November) to fish with us again. Hopefully!

On El Nuevo we had Steve Parra II, Ashley, Leah and Steve Parra Sr. After enjoying last night's 2 bottles of tequila, these guys almost missed out on the fishin'! but got here just in time. They weren't so lucky out on the water today, only caught 1 sierra.

And last but not least, we had Matt Gielow on out 28' Tantrum out by the Arch. He wen't fishing on his own and reeled in 12 Sierra, 2 yellowtail and 1 snapper. The other 6 got away! Glad to hear you had a fun time and are planning to come fish with us in October!

Fish Report: Feb. 18th, 2010

Hey Guys,
Nice weather here in Cabo San Lucas. Sorry for the delay on the Fish Report for yesterday.
Once again it seems as things are going on the right track. Our boats were fishing Inshore by the Gordo Bank and the lighthouse.

We had Tom Kunse and his buds Kathy, Neil, Sue and Reynaldo from Ohio and Colorado fishing with us and ended up with 12 Sierra and 1 Trigger fish. Excellent dudes, glad you had a great time!

From Denver Adam Hass and his crew Jeff, Scott, Colleen, Ashley and Christie went out on a 1/2 day charter aboard our 32' RedBeam and caught 12 Sierra (Spanish Mackeral). Sweet! Don't forget to send pics.

We also had the Mays party fishing with us on our 32' Rum Runnin and they were on a roll! This fellas caught 1 Dorado, 1 Rooster, 10 Sierra and a Skipjack. Nice guys! Hope to have you guys back real soon.

And last but not least we had Jeff and Karen Montepetit who came back with 15 Sierra as well. Thank you for fishing with RedRum buddies.

Offshore fishing is very slow, inshore fishing is starting to get a bit better, so I'll keep you guys posted on what's biting out there.

"I guess we'll fish Another Day"

Another slow day here at RedRum and basically in all Cabo San Lucas. After we thought we were going to begin the week with lots of fish being caught and taken home...we were wrong. I'm guessing it has to do with the weather? even though it's not even raining or cold...so I am just blaming it on "La Luna"...the moon.
Out of 4 boats we had out yesterday only 1 of them caught 4 Sierra.

Our friend Roger Cozzi came in for half day trip with his wife Teresa and 3 kids Michael, Matthew and Alex from New York. These guys came in a bit late this morning and ended their fishing trip around 13:00. So basically they were out for 4 hours and caught the 4 sierras. Little Michael reeled in one of them...good job little buddy!

I'll keep you updated with the fish report for Feb. 18th.

Back On Track!

Hey Guys,

Hope everyone is doing great. I do apologize for not posting any fish reports these past days...things have been very busy around here, but we can't complain.
So After having a very slow weekend, like you read on the fish report for Saturday, things started picking up again. Today all of our groups wen't home with something and some just came to catch and release.

Today we had 5 boats out, 3 were out by the pacific 1 was in between The Sea of Cortez and the Pacific and the Other was out on The Sea of Cortez...Seems a bit confusing huh?

The first group which I will mention is the party of Mike Wilson, Marcus, Kevin and Jason. They were aboard our 32' RedBeam and only 1/2 a mile after taking off at 7:00 am , they caught a Marlin. It was the only fish caught through out the day, but we know Marlins are out there, and it's like they're coming back after a week on vacation! Hope to see these guys soon. Thank you and we hope you had a great time!

Kurt Watzek and Friends were on their second day fishing with us, they were on our 33' Bertram El Nuevo, they were fishing out in The Sea of Cortez and caught 1 Dorado, they had spotted 2 more but these got away so they only reeled in one of them. Great Job guys, We're glad you decided to come fish with us and we are sure to see you next time! Thanks.

We also had Dr. Thomas and Dr. Sullivan fishing with us today and are going back to tonight's dinner party with 2 Dorado and 4 yellowtail!, This will be good enough to feed around 10-12 people who are having a ceremony tonight. Bon appetit gentlemen! and excellent job! Hope to see you real soon.

Our Buddy Matt Williamson was also out today, on his own fishing on our 32' Rum Runnin, caught himself 2 Dorado and was taking it back to have a great meal fixed up for an event going on this night. What a great dude, he had a great time and we sure hope to see him again! Thanks Matt!!! Nice meeting you.

And last but not least we had Scott Donaldson and wife Christine who arrived at 9:30 aboard the Royal Carribean Mariner, I met with them back at the Dock and they were really excited about the whole fishing trip. Such fun people. There plan was to catch and Release, and so they did. They caught 10 Sierra Mackeral. Not bad at all, they were only fishing for half a day, but they sure did real good! Hope to see you guys real soon.

The weather for today was excellent, waters were calm, it wasn't cold or windy at all, very warm day, around 80F. Just nice weather. Who ever is still sitting out in the cold somewhere, come join the party here in Cabo San Lucas!!!!

Skunked Saturday at RedRum!

Hey Guys,

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.
Today was a very ver VERY slow day here in Cabo San Lucas, I can tell you I've seen better days. Even though our 3 boats where out looking for fish, none of them were able to catch anything.

But we have to realize that this is what fishing is all about, sometimes your catch is great and other days well, we won't be so lucky and we will go home empty handed.
There were 2 Marlin and a Sierra that got away, these guys have had better luck than today...they blame it on the weather!!
But at least our groups had a fun time, everybody showed up today around 6 in the morning all ready to go out an have a blast!

We're happy they had fun! hope the next time they come back, the bite will be better.
