It seems to me that waters are warming up here in Cabo San Lucas hence bringing down the Stipers! We have started off the week really good with a Blue Marlin, a few Stripers, Tuna and Sierras.
Biting is happening in the morning which is good for you guys to know.
Yesterday we had 3 boats going out.
On Nuevo we had Daniel Sr and Jr Delavina, David Guerra and Brandon Wallace fishing on their first trip with RedRum in conjuction with CCA Texas. These boys from the Rio Grande Valley Chapter are staying at one of RedRum's Portofino condos and fishing on our 33' Nuevo. They fished with Captain Omar and Mate Manuel for a full day. On their first trip they caught a total of 6 Sierras. Their next fishing trip will be on Thursday. I'll Keep you posted.
On Tantrum we had Dan Transtrum and James Bell fishing with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan for a full day as well. And even though Dan's last name is similar to the boats name...there's no relation! During their trip they caught a total of 12 Sierras. Seems like these guys decided to stick to inshore rather than offshore. But still they came here to catch fish and so they did. Awesome Job you two!
Last but not least we had Jim Molger and Larry Flint fishing on ReelRum with Captain Edgar and Mate Americo. These guys had a GREAT GREAT DAY! out in the water. This time of year it's "ok" to spot Striped Marlin and it might even be decent to land one but these guys didn't go for the striper they caught and released a 135 Lbs Blue Marlin. Larry was the one who reeled it in and although to him it seemed like days of reeling it only took him 20 mins. They also caught a yellowfin tuna between 12-15 lbs and spotted a Striped Marlin once headed back to the Marina.
Today we had 4 boats going out and all of them with a successful ending!
On Our partner boat Cabo Chica we had Bert Coghill and his crew fishing for a full day. They fished primarily by the Arch and by the end of the day they had caught and released a 120 Striped Marlin and a Mako Shark! nice going.
On Tantrum we had Dave Childress and Ernie McFadden who fished for a full day. These guys followed my advice not to drink too much yesterday and today their fishing was awesome. They caught and released a 140 Lbs Striped Marlin, landed 9 Sierras and a Skipjack. They fished 8 miles off what is known as the White Hill (Cerro Blanco)
RumRunnin was another successful story. Bernie and Irene Hamilton fished for a full day with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus and although they didn't come back to the office at the end of their trip we were notified by our crew that they had caught and released 2 striped Marlin one weighing 180 Lbs and the other 140 Lbs. They fished 5 miles off the 95 Bank! Stupendous job and congratulations!
and finally Vickie Stanley fished with her crew: Shari West, Sarah Ware, Laurie Stanley and Frank Ware for a half day on Nuevo with Captain Omar and mate Manuel. They had caught 12 Sierras and a bonita by 9:30 AM! This is why I'm tellin you guys that fishing seems the be biting best in the morning.
We started off really good and hopefully it will continue getting better!

More Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna!
Alright guys
I'm back with more info on Today's fishing and all I can say is that it was GREAT!
Aside from the Marlin I talked about earlier our other customer fishing on RumRunnin Kelby Anderson had the same luck!
Kelby fished on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus for a full day trip. They too fished by the lighthouse 7 miles out and had a successful day with Marlin. Kelby was telling me that every time he comes to Cabo he has the same luck...what a lucky guy huh? Marlin was in today which is good after a while of hiding from fishermen but luckily our crew did a great job out in the water!
Another full day trip took place with fishermen Alfred Menard,Dave and Dale Wilder who fished on tantrum with Captain Omar and mate Juan. These guys had a fantastic time reeling Tuna were kept busy all day long. They caught a total of 7 yellowfin between 10-12 Lbs. Another fish that was a bit slow but decided to come out and play today.
And last but not least Derek Moreno, David Aguilar, Alex Safronov, Chad Mitchell and Damian Twedell fished on Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. They also had a great day in the water and caught a total of 6 yellowfin tuna and 2 Bonitas.

2 Stipers 130 Lbs.
Billfish....
Seems like they are heading back this way even though water temperature is still a bit chilly but in the past couple of days we've managed to actually get them to bite!
Yesterday Doug Leland and his 2 buddies fished on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and mate Jesus. They fished 7 miles out of the light house and after a long day in the water they finally caught and released a Striped Marlin that weighed 130 Lbs aprox. Doug and his crew were told early in the morning what fishing was like but they decided to go for it anyways and give it a shot and voila! they caught their Marlin. Awesome. It's good to know that they had a fantastic time with our guys.
On tantrum we had Lance Miller who fished for a half day and had a fun time fighting Roosterfish. They fished with Ramon and Juan, had a great time but we didn't have time to talk because they were on a cruise ship and had to be back in time to catch their ride back home. I met Lance on Wednesday and he is a great guy along with his fambam!
Hopefully they'll send in their pictures and we'll post them on our site.
and Today so far we've had our first boat come back today. It was Scott Mol and his pal Dan Best. These guys went fishing for a half day on ReelRum with Captain Edgar and Mate Americo. By the time they were back they had a Striped Marlin which was 500Lbs......or so that's what Scott told me =0) but once I asked the captain he told me that the Marlin was 130 Lbs I wonder where Scott got the extra 370 Lbs from?? hahahahahaha. These guys had a great time fishing and really enjoyed it. Aside from the Marlin they also caught 3 Sierras.

Hey Guys,
Fishing seems to be picking up. We had 2 boats going out on tne 2nd day of February.
On Tantrum we had Gordon Grippin and Mary Ellen Grippin fishing with Captain Ramon and mate Juan. They fished for a full day and during their trip they were able to land 10 Sierra, 3 Bonita and 2 Rooster fish. They focused mostly on inshore fishing and had a great day out in the water.
Tuna is now located 27 miles offshore which is still a bit far but yesterday during Rick Miske's charter they managed to catch 3 yellowfin. The weight was 15 Lbs each which was not bad, especially for this time of year.
They also spotted Marlin but like we've been reporting it's not biting too well right now. Rick and his crew decided to go to Misiones de Kino to get their catch cooked up. Excellent choice!
Rick's crew was Jim Dykins, Chris Lund, Mark and Don Hardy and Paul Lautenschlager.
They had a great day fishing with Captain Omar and Mate Jesus.
Something that I want to mention and has nothing to do with the fishing for this day is that there is a new fish limit that our customers can catch and keep. Although most fish are abundant in Cabo San Lucas please keep in mind that most fish are considered ‘Vulnerable’ species and if no action is taken we can soon be out of fishing.
Fortunately, many Cabo San Lucas fishing charters, like us, take conservation seriously – knowing today's will determine whether future generations can enjoy sport fishing. Many fishing charters encourage catch and release for billfish and will enforce catch limits required by law. Be sure to respect the fish by following the rules.

Feb. 1st...not too good.
Hey Guys,
Not much to report here in Cabo. Fishing yesterday was slow. Lots of Marlin were spotted by our crew and customers but these decided not to bite, just entertain. We had 2 boats going out but none of them had as much luck as their previous trip on Sunday.
Hopefully today will be a better day. Sea temperature is still 70F. Winds have been blowing between 10-15 mph and sea levels are 4-5 ft every 15 sec. It's not too bad and we got a report that the seas were calm even though it sounds or you'd think that it would be rough out there considering the weather.
February is looking good. I'll keep you posted

Thanks for the accurate forecast weather man!
Today was windy as a beast in Cabo and everywhere we looked claimed it was going to be a great day on the water. Great day if 10-12 foot swells is what you are into.
We had two boats on the water today, Rum Runnin and Pescado III. Pescado III chose to fish inshore for the majority of the day and that seemed to be the correct choice. Mike DeLuca, from Houston Texas, and his friends from Maine joined us today and had a great day on the water, albeit a little choppy. They had two Skipjack Tuna, one they claimed was almost 30 lbs, 3 Sierra and a Barracuda. The ladies were stoked on seeing Whales and Dolphins and said they had an awesome experience.
Stephen and Marie Ellison, didn't have nearly as good of a day. They chose to head offhsore in search of the Tuna the boys found the day before. As they got closer and closer to the schools of Porpoise and Yellowfin, the water got choppier and choppier until they finally had to call it quits and head back in. They have another trip scheduled for Wednesday and figured they would fish when the seas were a bit calmer. Good Call.
