Tuna, TUna, TUNa, TUNA!!!!!!

Tuna are still all over the place, the boys found 4 huge schools all over the Pacific from San Jaime to North of Golden Gate. Water temps were in the high 60's, low 70's and when I asked what the Tuna were eating the boys laughed at me. Whatever they put on the water was getting bit, from Cedar Plugs, to Spreader Bars, to Hoochies.

I had a little incentive program in the works today, any Captain that was able to land a Tuna more than 50lbs got a $50 tip from me. Let's see how they did....

The ever pleasent Monks group was back for their final day on the water with Javier and Americo on Rum Runnin and Alex and Manuel on El Nuevo RedRum. The folks on Rum Runnin had 13 Yellowfin and the guys on El Nuevo had 11. These 9 guys had nearly 70 Yellowfin Tuna over the last 3 days. I know the folks who fished last week would have really liked to have seen those fish a few days earlier. Just goes to show how quickly the ocean can wake up.

Ray Laurie and his crew fished with Lupe and Ricardo on Cabo Chica and had a great day as well. They weren't able to get quite as many as the other guys, but they did manage to haul in 7 Yellowfin Tuna and a nice Dorado. A phenominal day by anyone's standard.

John Matteson, Art Davis, and Michael Marks joined Ramon and Juan aboard TantRum today to and they got out there and chased the Tuna as well. They told me they wanted to do a little inshore fishing, but I suggested they wait until tomorrow for that. When the Tuna are biting, you have to get out there and make a go of it. They finished the day with 13 Yellowfin.

And for everyone worried about who got my $50 for the biggest Tuna... no one. Nobody was able to catch one over 50lbs. They tried to throw live bait, tried to get some bigger bait down deep, tried some spreader bars way back, but couldn't make it happen.

Maybe next time boys!

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom's out there!
