Monday Marlin and Dorado

Today was a beautiful day on the water here in Cabo. Seas were very calm and winds were less than 10 knots which made for some happy folks. The boys are still fishing from the 95 to the 1150 and the Marlin action is very heavy. One boat did see some Dorado and Wahoo action, and the first Black Marlin siting of the season also occured. Interesting day off of Cabo San Lucas.

Gary Caligiuri along with his daughter and two of her girlfriends, all from West Grove, Pennsylvania. Gary has his hands full on this "vacation" with two 16 year-olds and an 18 year-old. I offered to let him borrow one of our thicker fishing poles to beat all the young boys away when they are back at the resort pool. Well, I have to give credit to the girls. They got up and joined Dad for a day on the water, and as is the case, it turned out to be a great decision. Gary and the girls had a great time with Javier and Omar aboard Rum Runnin'. They stayed busy throughout the day with 3 Striped Marlin all caught and released. Good luck the rest of the trip Gary!

Bill Greaves, a "casi" or almost in english local, had two buddies in town visiting and today was day 2 of fishing for Roy Muller from Pocatello, Idaho and Allen Burns from Green River, Utah. Day 1 the guys caught and released their first Marlin and day 2 wasn't much different. They still only managed to catch and release 1 Striped Marlin, but they did have few others taking bait and getting hooked before losing the fish before they got to the boat.

Bob Thayer Sr. and Bob Thayer Jr. joined the crew of Marlin Too for a day on the water today and they had some good luck over at the 1150 and Iman banks. They landed 2 Dorado, lost another and had a nice hook-up on a Wahoo before losing that fish before they got it to the boat. They also noticed a boat in the same vicinity that was battling a big Black Marlin! While they unfortunately, weren't the ones in on the action, it is nice to see that the Black's and presumably Blue's have started to show up!

Braun Knutson and his wife Shannon are down from Bismarck, North Dakota on vacation after a hectic 4th of July holiday in the US. While the 4th of July is normally a great time to relax and enjoy time with friends and family, the Knutson's are in the fireworks business, so it is their busiest time of work all year. Avid outdoorsmen, the Knutson's definitely wanted to get out on the water while here in Cabo. They had their hearts set on catching a Marlin and Alex and Manuel knew where they were biting. They headed to the 1150 and after catching and releasing their first Marlin, Alex and Manuel were able to hook two more fish, but they weren't able to get them all the way to the boat. Braun is hoping to get back on the water for another day of action, and to hopefully get Shannon some time on the rod and reel.
