Today we had another beautiful day on the water here in Cabo. Calm seas, and mid 80's water made for another great fishing day. A buzz is certainly in the air as this week marks the beginning of Tournament Season in Cabo San Lucas. We get started with the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament on Wednesday and Captains and Mates are getting excited.
Brian Impey and his crew from San Jose, California fished with Jesus and Edgar on ReelRum and they had a great day on the water. They finished with day with their daily limit, of 2 Dorado's per person for a total of 8.
Don Jackson and his son Brad, down from good ole Fort Worth, Texas (Go Horned Frogs) joined Ramon and Juan on TantRum today and they had a fish of a lifetime, almost two actually. The day started off with 3 Dorado and then a catch and release Striped Marlin. Ramon then spotted a school of Porpoise and Juan got the Tuna jigs out and into the spread. When Ramon got in front of the school, Juan pitched a Ballyhoo back which immeadiately got inhaled by a 200+ lb Yellowfin. He passed the rod off, and quickly rigged another. By the time he pitched the second Ballyhoo, the first Tuna had come off, but he quickly hooked another, this time a 180 lb Yellowfin. Finally, he hooked about a 60lb Yellowfin and both fish were landed. What an awesome experience.
The Kruse crew headed out for their second day on the water aboard both RedBeam and El Nuevo RedRum. They were focused on Billfish today, and they got what they were after. RedBeam had 2 Striped Marlin and 1 Sailfish, and El Nuevo finished with 2 Striped Marlin.
Day 2 of fishing for Evan Miller and his crew was another awesome day. Javier and Jesus got the guys into the Dorado and they finished with 9 for the day.
I could go on and on, but basically, the Dorado bite is non-stop. Some huge Tuna are around, and the Billfish bite has been great.
We are busy getting ready for the Tournaments, so we apologize for the short fish reports but I think you all get the general idea that Cabo is red hot right now and we are super busy.
Thanks,
Ryan
