Michael and Maryann from Bend, Oregon went out on our 32’ RedBeam today with captain “El Ta Ta” and mate Fabian. They caught and released 5 Roosterfish, and brought back a Dorado, 3 Bonita and 5 Sierra, all caught in the sea of Cortez. It was a great day for them. They loved the boat, they loved the crew and said it was the best fishing trip they’d ever been on and would never fish anywhere else again. Now that’s what we like to hear when our clients come back.

Danny and his son Josh went out on our 28’ ReelRum will Omar and Americo and caught and released 2 Marlin using a combination of live bait and lures. Josh also caught and released a Hammerhead shark using our kite and a Dorado using live bait as well. They went out twice on Panga’s this week for inshore fishing and will be back for more offshore fishing tomorrow. What pro’s!

Matt and Scott from San Diego, CA went out on our 32’ RumRunnin and caught 2 Marlin on the sea of Cortez with captain Ulises and mate Mickey. The Marlin weighed between 140-150 pounds and measured roughly 100 inches long. They used both live and dead bait. They saw a lot of fish out on the water and hooked up twelve times…they had quite the fight.

Out for the second day in a row was the Watson group of friends from Louisiana. They went out on our 33’ El Nuevo and caught and released a Marlin and brought back Sierra and Yellowtail for dinner. Great job guys!

Marlin/Dorado Pattern

Out on our 32’ RedBeam captained by Marcial and mate Fabian, was the Mariano couple. When they came in this morning the wife said she was going to catch the bigger fish of the day and she was right. She caught and released a 165 pound Marlin and her husband caught a nice sized Dorado. They fished the sea of Cortez right by Santa Maria bay where water temperatures were at 78 degrees.

Sharon and her husband went out on our 28’ ReedRum with captain Omar and mate Americo. They used live bait to catch 2 Marlin by Chileno bay in the sea of Cortez. Their fish weighed 150-170 pounds and it was the first time they visited Cabo and first time catching Marlin.

We found two groups to share our 32’ RumRunnin today captained by Javier and his mate Manuel. They caught a forty pound Dorado using a lure and a striped Marlin using live bait.

Bruce and Karlene fished with us today on a Panga and caught 4 Roosterfish, 5 Yellowtail and 5 Sierra on the sea of Cortez, also in front if Santa Marian bay. The couple fished with us a few days ago and caught a Marlin but came back for some dinner.

Joel and four of his friends from Louisiana are in Cabo this week staying at our Portofino condos. They went out fishing on our 33’ El Nuevo for the first time this week and caught and released a Marlin and a Dorado. They almost got a second Marlin using a kite but it got away.

Wed. June 3rd - All boats out fishing today - Brooke and Ryan return to Cabo from two weeks in Spain.

On the "red beam" we had the Reinbolds out looking for a marlin, they came back around 11:30AM with a marlin and release flag flying. They may have had a few too many cocktails last night and wanted to get back to the resort for some sun.

Peter, Peter Jr, William Shempp, Jim Parks and Danny Reeves had a great day with Alex and Ramon on El Nuevo, with three dorado in the 35lb range. They also had a double hookup on marlin that were released. The whole gang (15 in all) will be enjoying the freah dorado tonight at Misiones De Kino.

The Flanary's stayed in shore today on Reelrum with Omar and Americo and got 10-12 serria, four yellowtail, they will be taking there filets home with them in the morning.

The Sweeney clan went out on Rum Runnin, father and three young boys, they had a great time with two serria and one marlin. The young boys had a great time out with there dad.

The fish are only about three miles off the arch, so come on down and get into the action.

More Marlin and Rooster today

Louisiana is in town this week. Jamie, Jennifer, Ryan, Melisa, Priscilla and Brighton went out on our 33’ El Nuevo today with Captain Alex and Mate Ramon. It was their second day out fishing, yesterday they mostly got teased by all the Marlin but today they made a come back. The group decided to do a bit of inshore and offshore fishing. Using Rapalla lures and trolling on the Pacific side, they caught 2 Sierra, 1 Yellowtail and 1 Bonito. Heading out to the warmer waters of the sea of Cortez, they used live bait to entice the Marlin that they caught and released. They’re taking tomorrow off so that they can enjoy Cabo’s nightlife but they had so much fun we may see them back on Monday.

Paul spends about six weeks out of the year in Cabo and most of that time fishing. Today he went out on a Panga with Captain Carlos and caught 5 Roosterfish on the sea of Cortez.

Slow day but still lots of play

It was a slow day for all of the boats in the Marina and unfortunately that includes us as well. But for some like Larry and Tobey from Louisiana, the day couldn’t have been better. By 11:30 am their boat was in the slip at the Marina. We at first thought it was because of lack of action but it turned out otherwise. They caught and released 3 Marlin on our 32’ RumRunnin with Javier and Manuel using live bait and trolling on the sea of Cortez in front of Santa Maria beach, a mere three miles from the shore. More time for happy hour now!

The Henry family from Texas went out on a partner boat today and caught and released 4 Roosterfish on the sea of Cortez, also by Santa Maria beach. It was the first time for the two daughters and they did a great job.

Kite Fishing is In

David and his wife Kelley went out today on our 32’ RumRunnin with Javier and Manuel. Using rapalla lures, David and Kelley caught 6 Sierra (Spanish mackerel) and 2 Bonito just a third of a mile from the sea of Cortez shoreline. Water temperatures were between 64 and 66 degrees.

Mike went solo on our 32’ RedBeam with Marcial and Fabian. His wife didn’t feel like fishing but he wasn’t going to let that keep him from getting on the water. They headed east on the sea of Cortez and caught 5 Roosterfish using live bait. After the fifth Rooster Mike wanted to try for a Dorado but instead started a fight with a Marlin, also using live bait. Mike won the fight but used good sportsmanship and released his opponent.

Back for their third and final day of fishing, the St. Martin group headed out to Gordo Banks on the sea of Cortez and caught a Marlin using live bait. All four friends caught a Marlin on this trip and we are especially happy for Pete who celebrated his 70th birthday catching his first Marlin ever. The guys went out on our 28’ ReelRum.

Out on our 33’ El Nuevo with Captain Alex and mate Ramon was the RedRum “Jefe”, John Donovan, his new friend Larry whom he met while sipping mojitos at our favorite restaurant Misiones de Kino, Tobey, Tammy and Chas. They started the trip with Tammy catching a small Dorado which they released after John gave the scared little guy a kiss. They continued on in their search for Marlin and after trolling for several hours trying a variety of spreads and pitching live bait to several Marlin, they decided to try out the kite. After only ten minutes of kite fishing with live bait they got a bite, and then another one. Tammy and Tobey were the lucky anglers that reeled these 160-180 pound babies in, snapped a picture and set them free. Tammy is now a legend at RedRum having been the first person to have caught a fish using our new kite system. Congrats Tammy!!!
