Horrible name for the post, I know, but it has been a long week and it is only Wednesday. Good buddy Mark Boone is coming down to do some fishing from Texas this weekend and I can take solace in the fact that the rest of the week will involve good fun and plenty of beverages.
Will and Todd, along with their wives were the first ones back today after their half-day charter. They saw a ton of fish, but were only able to bring in 1 Catch and Release Marlin. The fishing is certainly, "patchy" as one client described it, with some boats just getting luckier than others. Glad you guys were able to get one big fish to the boat. Hope to see you back soon.
Next up was the McLain crew. Doug and Mark were excited about taking their sons out for a day on the water, but thought a half-day would best suit them. Captain Marshall asked them first thing this morning what they wanted their day to entail and the first thing Mark said was he wanted something for the dinner table. Marshall headed off in pursuit of a Dorado and/or Tuna, but as they got closer to the fishing grounds the swells picked up a bit. Marshall decided to head closer to shore to troll live bait for a Dorado, and he was able to get them hooked up to a nice fish. Doug and Mark felt it had taken far too long to get the Dorado and they remarked that they wanted the young boys to do some fishing, with poles in their hands. Marshall rigged up the poles for bottom fishing and they were able to catch several different bottom species including Rock Snapper and Triggerfish. All in all, Mark and Doug felt that Marshall spent too much time getting them a fish for dinner, and not enough time fishing with the kids. They were not happy with their charter and they came back to let me know. (No one will ever accuse us of not being honest with our fish report. Oh well, I feel like Marshall did a great job and feel like we did our best here at RedRum.)
Robert Bomkessel headed out with Omar on ReelRum and while they had a bit of a slow day, they had a good time. Omar too, had trouble getting the fish to bite for him today, but he was able to get one nice Tuna for the guys to enjoy for dinner.
Dianne Carlilse, who was part of the Roberts wedding group last week, didn't get enough action the two days she fished last week. They booked another charter with us today to try to match the success of their first day fishing last week on El Nuevo. They came back to the office after the charter to let us know the crew did a fabulous job and to buy a few flags commemorating their different catches during the past two weeks. Today they caught a nice big Dorado to enjoy this evening.
Finally, our good friends from Fort Worth, Texas, Wayne and Sandra Bordner were back again today to finish up their second of two fishing days. Wayne and Sandra won the mixed bag prize today with a phenominal day with Javier and Ulyses. After losing 2 Marlin that had spit the hook, they brought in 2 Yellowfin, a Dorado, and a nice size Wahoo. That's right, a Wahoo, you lucky dogs you! Wahoo for the Bordners tonight, Ramen Noodles for the Donovan's. No worries, you can leave a filet of Wahoo with us next time you come down.
Thanks to all my guys today, they worked hard to put the customers on the fish and I know they will be back tomorrow to do the same.
Adios,
Ryan
