Tuna on the Pacific, Marlin on the Sea of Cortez Side
Well I thought we were going to have more rainy days but I guess I was wrong. In the two years that I've been here I've only seen 4 rainy days! That basically means that 726 days were absolute sunshine!
Tuesday was a cloudy morning and by the time the boats took off, it started to rain and it lasted like 2 hours. Of course this did not have an impact on the fishing. We caught a total of 32 yellowfin and 2 striped Marlin.
From San Celemente we had Steve Milner along with Connor Pasne and Jacob Contreras fishing for a full day on our 32' RumRunnin. During their 8 hours of fishing with Captain Javier and mate Jesus they landed a total of 7 Tuna.
From Delaware and Los Angeles Jorge Goytisolo and his party of 4 fished on our 33' Nuevo with Captain Alex and Manuel. Their fishing consisted of 12 yellowfin tuna. biggest being 40 Lbs and released 2 Striped Marlin that were 96" and 106", the biggest Marlin weighed and aprox 180 Lbs.
Robert Mitchell fished for two days on RedRum with Captain Omar and mate Americo. During their first trip they landed a total of 13 yellowfin tuna. They took some to a restaurant and gave the rest to the crew. Brad and Robert had such a great day out there that they decided to give it another shot in search of Dorado. During their second trip yesterday they caught 1 Marlin around 110Lbs and 1 tuna. A little slower than day 1 but they still had an awesome time.
From New Jersey we had Tara Smith and her party of 8. They fished aboard our 38' partner boat Marlin Too. They were out for a half day trip and only caught 2 yellowfin tuna. Some of the folks got a bit seasick, but they still had a great time. They took some fish to Misiones de Kino to get it cooked up for the night.
On Cabo Chica we had Mike Ray and his party of 5 fishing for a full day. Their morning started a bit rough but in the end everything worked out great. They landed a total of 5 yellowfin tuna weighing around 15 Lbs each. They took all their fish to Misiones for some nice 6 way cooking of their catch. I'm sure they enjoyed their meal.
And last but not least Brandon Emory from Austin Texas along with Jade Burgoyne fished for a full day on our 32' RumRunnin. They caught a Yellowfin between 35-40 Lbs. They had a great day and I'm sure Brandon will come back soon. He's a repeat customer and loved RedRum so much that he decided to come back again. Hopefully we'll see him soon.

4th of July fishing!
4th of July fishing was great here in Cabo. No rain during the day which is even better but a few raindrops don't hurt anybody.
We had all of our boats booked. Just like last year, not much going on here for locals regarding 4th of July but you sure can see firework displays and buffets at resorts which is where our customers are staying so at least they had a great 4th of July.
On partner boat Rosy we had Dan Colman fishing along with Nicolas and Len and they released a total of 2 striped Marlin and caught 7 yellowfin tuna. Their captain was Luis. Great day!
From CCA Texas we had The Fischer Party, who had their first fishing trip on Saturday and they were celebrating Michelle's birthday. On day one all 6 went out fishing for a full day and landed 1 dorado and caught and released 2 striped Marlin (94"&96")
Yesterday only the guys took the trip and they landed 3 yellowfin tuna. Today they have taken off to go back home but I know they had a blast and were very pleased and satisfied with their whole trip from lodging to fishing! Congrats and we hope you had a special birthday Michelle.
on RumRunnin we had Michael DeHart and Christy Hackea fishing for a full day with Javier and Jesus. They caught a total of 5 yellowfin tuna and just like the rest of the groups had a blast out there. Thanks!
From Denver Co, Tyson Smith and Shelby Smith fished for a half day on Tantrum and landed a 120 Lbs 6 1/2 Striped Marlin. These folks were excited that it's not usual to catch a Marlin on a half day trip but they did. It's not unusual either but it's a bit early for it to happen so congrats to these two!
And last but not least Dennis Ortiz fished on nuevo with his party of 7 for a full day and also tried going out for tuna with a success. They landed a total of 5 yellowfin and decided to g et their fish cooked for the night.
Thanks to all and congrats on your catch.

We ended a good fishing month with success.
Another month goes by which means less time for me here at RedRum. Just one more month left and You'll be reading someone else's blogs/fish reports.
We ended June with good fishing. Lot of things happened this week, lot of people to interview, lots of candidates, but right now, we've narrowed it down to 3...I guess the decision will be made on Sunday.
Seas are still at 5 ft and winds remaining at 10-20 mph. The days are hot! I think this will be a very HOT summer, probably even more than last year.
On Nuevo we had Gerry Zachery and Wanny Huang fishing for a full day trip. They were out for a while before they landed their first Dorado. They ended their trip with a total of 2. They took some to get it cooked up for the night and the rest gave it to RedRum for donation. Thanks you guys!
Daniel Sutherland and Craig Pittz fished on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. During their 8 hour trip they landed 2 yellowfn tuna, 1 dorado and 1 striped marlin. I heard the marlin was 140 Lbs. These gentlemen were satisfied with their fishing trip. Thanks and congrats on your Marlin
Richard Spragues and his party of 8 fished on Marlin Too with Captin Pancho and mate Jesus. They were out for 8 hours as well and they caught and released 2 Striped Marlin. Not sure the size since they did not come back to the office.
Thanks for reading.

Fish Report for Tuesday June 28th
Hey guys,
Yesterday's fishing was good. I had a group who was a little bit hesitant about fishing but in the end realized it was well worth it.
Seas have still been 5 ft high which is average here in cabo. No one came back because of seasickness.
All our groups had a great time, especially those who were doing a full day charter. Half Day charter are good but I would personally go for a full day instead, chances of catching fish are much higher.
On RumRunnin we had Todd and Tanner Smith who fished with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus for a full day. After their 8 hour trip they came back with 2 Striped Marlin and 1 40 Lb Dorado. Dorado's are coming in and like I've been saying over the past days, the numbers are low, but they're almost reaching the right time.
From Las Vegas Nick and Vander Poel and mel Meier fished on our 33' Nuevo with Captain Juan and mate Manuel for a half day. They had an awesome time catching a nice 140 Lbs Striped Marlin. It's the first one they've caught and they were thrilled about it. Glad they decided to look us up and charter one of our boats. Hope they send in their pics soon so we can post them on this site.
Thanks

Tiny Hands, Tiny feet, there's someone new for you to meet!
Ryan and Brooke Donovan have expanded their house by two feet. They're Dalton Bruin's!
We know this is not a fish report but it will top any fish report we have done in the past or future.
On Monday June 27th, 2011, we welcomed Dalton Bruin Donovan in this wonderful world of fishermen and women. He was born in Cabo San Lucas to the very proud parents.
Both Mom and Bruin (as he will go by) are doing great. Our plans are to get him out fishing soon and setting some world records.
Bruin definitely beats Ryan's Huge Black Marlin landed in 2008 and the jackpot winning Yellowfin of 2009! This is Ryan's biggest "Catch" ever.
We thank all our RedRum friends and family for all there help the past nine months

San Franciscans and the mighty Sword fish!
You probably already found out through facebook, twitter and what not, that on Friday we had a group of guys from San Francisco fighting a sword for more than 9 hours?? No? Well here's the scoop!
On Friday, I received a call from Captain Omar and first Mate Americo telling me that they would arrive a bit late because they were fighting a BIG FISH. I right away thought it was a Marlin, little did I know they were talking about a Sword Fish, who's weight was 320+ Lbs.
It's been 3 years 3 months since RedRum fought and landed this kind of fish. The one caught a while back weighed 260 Lbs. After so long and patiently waiting for the next big catch on Friday that wait came to an end. Michael Black, Shawn Meroni, Mark Roberts, Brendan Morris, Conrad Castor and Sameer Advani where at the airport Thursday about to catch their flight to Cabo San Lucas when they called asking for prices on fishing charter. The information was given and they were going to decide which boat they wanted to take, if any.
A few minutes later I was back on the phone with Mike and they had decided to book the 31' RedRum. Friday Morning came and it was almost 7 AM...no sign of this group, I started dialing the number provided to remind them of the charter, when in Cabo you know it's normal to party out a night before and I just wasn't sure if this was the case. As soon as I hung up the phone, they walked into the office ready for their trip.
These awesome, down to earth guys, were ready for their trip. Omar and Americo walked them down to the boat and off they went into the unexpected. By 11 AM, they had a sword fish on the line, which was caught on live bait with a 50 Lb fishing line and 80 Lb test leader, Custom made fishing pools and shimano reel.
By 6:30 PM, every member of the RedRum family was at the dock waiting patiently to know if the fish had been defeated during the fight, we weren't sure if they were going to land it since it had been over 7 hours of fighting and Mike and team were a bit tired and ready to give up....All of the sudden Omar contacts us and says "It's gone to a better life" The cheering started, everyone was stoaked and you can just feel the great vibe at the dock, beers on RedRum, said Ryan.
At 8:30, after a couple of beers and talking with the security dock manager (who wanted to kick us out), RedRum's headlights start coming in, everyone received Mike Black and his team members with claps, high fives and cheers.
John Donovan had been on the phone with us most part of the day waiting for updated news, I bet he wished he had been here with everyone, it was a fun night. They guys told us how many turns it took each to fight the fish, how they were about to give up on it and how happy and excited they were.
A small interview, thousands of pictures and 6 tired guys was the outcome of this amazing fishing experience. Enjoy one of the many pictures taken and let us know what you think!

220 Lbs Yellowfin Tuna caught by James Wade
Hey All,
Wow, TGIF! so many things going on this week and many many more in the upcoming one! So many changes as well. Just a few more days 'til Ryan and Brooke can hold their firstborn baby in their arms...future heir of RedRum sportfishing is a few days away from waking up in beautiful Cabo!
On Another note, yesterday's fishing was SUPERB! Ranger Magers and his buddy James Wade fished twice this week. Their first trip took place on June 22nd with their total catch consisting of 12 yellowfin tunas. 20-25 each NOT BAD for day 1 and for a little sharpy sea. Yesterday June 23rd they also fished same crew Omar and Americo from our 31' RedRum. Their final number of fish caught on day 2 was only 3 Yellowfin tuna a smaller number compared to a day before.
The only difference was that during yesterday's fishing, one of the Tuna's they caught weighed 220 Lbs, was caught by James Wade from Dallas Texas! the other two tunas were an average of 20-25 Lbs, but this huge tuna definitely breaks the record so far for this year.
Congratulations to Randy and James for their outstanding performance.
You can check out a picture of the Tuna at the end of the fish report.
From Houston Texas we also had Jon olson and Chad fisihing on a hald day trip with Alex and Manuel on our 33' Nuevo. Their catch consisted of 2 Dorados.
Michael and Crystal McFarlen fished on tantrum with Ramon and Jesus and caught a nice striped marlin 8 ft 140 Lbs. They had a blast out there. Congratulations you two!
And Jeffery Dietz also fished on Wednesday on Tantrum with ramon and Juan and he caught a total of 6 yellowfin tuna and 1 Dorado.
Thanks for Reading and enjoy the pics!
Jacob and the big Rooster!
On June 7th, 8th and 9th we had Jacob Denison fishing with us. Out of these 3 days, on June 8th Jacob decided to go on a panga with Captain Edgar. This time he was doing a solo trip.
During this 5 hour trip Jacob's mission was to try and catch a Rooster fish, a little bit doubtful it would happen since it's really not the best time of the year for Rooster fish, even though they're here year round, June is "ok" not great.
This did not stop Jacob from taking this trip, he wen't out and by the time he came back in, he had a really nice size Rooster fish. Check out the picture for yourself.
During these 3 days he also caught a nice size Marlin, basically everything Jacob was after he can now scratch off his list!
This is really a nice size Rooster fish and in Jacbo's words: "The marlin is truly a bucket list scratcher, but that rooster is epic"
You can see that the Rooster fish looks way bigger than Captain Edgar!
I hope you enjoy these pixs
Thanks

Tropical Storm Beatriz is gone, but she left her mark...
**Warning, first big Blue Marlin of the season is mentioned in this post!!**
I guess the Tropical Storm season is upon us now. While Beatriz was nearly 400 miles away, those tropical storms have a way of really moving things around in the surrounding waters. A week ago we were stoked with 80 degree water, and Marlin, Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo less than 10 miles from the Marina. Things changed with Beatriz. The winds picked up, water temps dropeed and the fish scattered.
Sunday was really the first day we felt the effects. Steve Selby and his boys, Patrick, Evan, and Kelly along with family friend Gary Holbrook were our lone fishermen on Sunday. They worked the Herradura Bank towards the 95 and couldn't get into the fish. Finally, they got word of some Tuna a few miles further out and got into 4 nice Tuna, the largest being 35lbs.
Monday was just a mess, winds made the water super choppy and the cold water moved in. Derrick Thrappas and his crew hooked into a Marlin that they lost and came back with 1 Yellowfin, but they said it was a rough ride.
Randy Harris and his family from the Los Angeles area also hooked into a Marlin and a Dorado but missed both fish. They too said it was a bumpy ride out there. Damn it Beatriz, you are messing with my customers! The Harris' were super cool and understood there was nothing we could do about the weather or the fishing conditions so that was nice. Nothing worse than angry customers who are mad about things completely out of our control.
Yesterday, things got a little better fishing wise but it was still rough out there. As Tropical Storm Beatriz was still 350 miles away and dissipating, we were still experiencing some of it's effects.
Carrie and Jerry Peck wanted a Marlin in the worst way and you know the the guys from Team RedRum always do their best to make that happen. Carrie was a trooper, getting sick all day, but sticking with it. It was all worth it in the end as they caught and released a 9', 150lb Stiped Marlin.
Steve Selby and his son Evan, along with Gary Holbrook were back at it for day 2 of 2 with the boys on RedRum. They knew fishing would be tough with the weather, but made the best of it and caught and released a nice 150lb Striped Marlin.
Finally, "Rob and the Philly Crew," had a phenominal day on the water. They had me worried when they still weren't back at 3:30, then 4:00, 4:30, and even 5:00pm... This usually means one of two things. A) They had a problem with the boat (which would not have been good since we couldn't get in touch with them as they were out of cell range, but we weren't hearing anything on the VHF either.) or B) They had a Big fish.
B) It was, and by "B" I mean Blue Marlin, Big, and Badass!
I finally talked to another Captain about 5pm that told me he saw "Rob and the Philly Crew" doing battle with a Big Blue Marlin near the 1150 bank and it was pulling them further offshore. Thus the reason we couldn't reach the cell phone of the Captain or Mate, and also the reason we didn't hear any radio (VHF) chatter. The Captain was busy manuevering the boat and the mate was working with the clients. I am intentionally not telling you which boat or crew because I don't want you guys picking any favorites.
Anyway, as luck would have it, the Big Blue, estimated by the boys at over 500lbs hit a rigged Ballyhoo on a Penn 30 loaded with 40 lb test line. A daunting task for even the most experienced angler. After 4 plus hours of passing the rod and reel back and forth and getting pulled a total of close to 40 miles offshore, the line finally reached it's breaking point. Rob said it was an awesome experience and they got to see the fish jump out of the water completely several times. They had it as close to 50 feet from the boat a few times, but this was just too much fish for the reel and line. They did manage to catch and release another small Striped Marlin and also caught a small Yellowfin.
The Blues are around and it shouldbe a great season if we are getting into them already!
-Ryan

RedRum, we make it happen.
Really windy day in Cabo yesterday but that did not stop us from turning it around and making our customers have a time of their lives. Everyone came back fascinated with their fishing trip, a few were wet but in their own words: "Well worth it"
Ryan Socia and his crew fished on Marlin Too for a full day trip with Captain Pancho and Mate Jesus. The group had a blast and praised the work we do here at RedRum. This group from Ventura California caught a total of 7 Yellowfin tunas, all of them were a bit over 50 Lbs. We had 7 people on the boat so basically everyone caught fish. Thanks guys!
Joe Foster had a good day in the water as well, started off at 8 AM and was only able to land a Rooster fish, a bit slow for him, but during this past week he's been catching good fish. Marlin, Dorado, Tuna and now Rooster. On Monday he'll do another fishing trip, let's see how he does then.
Paul Dunlap fished on Nuevo for a full day with Paul Tobias Dunlap and Lance Simpson. Together they caught 2 Tuna, 1 Dorado and a Blue Marlin. This group also had a blast with Captain Alex and mate Juan. They were very pleased with their fishing trip and also praised the hard work Alex and Juan performed.
From Sacramento California Brian Bladow and Chris Eastburn fished on Tantrum for a full day. They too caught 3 yellowfin tunas and 1 striped Marlin. Captain Ramon and Mate Jesus did an excellent job on the boat.
Ryan Tucker and Seth McKinney fished with Captain Javier and mate Americo. They went out for a half day and only wanted to target Marlin. Well we made it happen. The guys came back after their trip and caught the Marlin they wanted so bad. Congrats!
Thanks for reading.

Good friends, good friends...
Today I had the pleasure of meeting Scott Deardorff, his son Briggs, and Briggs' buddy Tucker Atterbury. Scott is a partner of Deardorff Farms in Ventura, California and has been a mentor/boss to one of my very best friends, Geremy Olsen for several years now. Scott wanted to bring Briggs and Tucker down as a high school graduation present and Geremy told them they had to fish with RedRum! Briggs looked a little green when he got back, but Tucker and Scott had a blast. They fished with TantRum and had 2 really nice sized Yellowfin, 1 good size Dorado and a monster 150lb (estimated) Sailfish! Great day, awesome filets, and a great dinner at Misiones de Kino.
Joe Foster and Chris Turner spent day 3 of 5 with Alex and Juan on El Nuevo RedRum and they came back with 1 Marlin and 1 nice Yellowfin Tuna.
Susan Sieger and Mary Cavanaugh spent the day with Captain Omar on RedRum and they had an awesome day getting into multiple schools of Yellowfin. They finished the day with 5 really nice fish, all Yellowfin in the 20-30lb range.
A few bigger Tuna have been caught recently, meaning some of the bigger Yellowfin have finally caught word of the abundance of bait and warm water in Cabo. Hopefully, your reading this and realizing the same thing. Time to get to CABO!!!

June 15th, mixed bag fishing, beautiful weather.
Today was a little warm, but a really nice day on the water. Water temps have stayed up and the fish are hanging out anywhere from the shoreline to 8-10 miles offshore. Haven't had to run too far to get into the fish and that is always a plus. (Not like our "long runs" are all that long anyway.)
Jeff and Zack Muscat a father and son group were down celebrating Zack's high school graduation and Dad really wanted to celebrate with a Marlin. The boys did their best on TantRum and pitched bait to a few Marlin, but they just couldn't get hooked up. Zack's consolation present was a nice Yellowfin Tuna and 2 nice Dorado. Not too shabby.
Gloria Baca, David Staszewski, and their friend Mark George were out today for the final day of a 3 day fishing trip. Gloria and David first came down in December and had a few great days on the water. They also fell in love with Cabo and told me they were done fishing in Florida. Cabo only from now on! The way it should be. They had a great final day, after catching Sharks, and Marlin the first 2 days, they finished up by filling the cooler with 3 nice Yellowfin and 2 nice Dorado! See you guys in November!
Ryan Tucker and his wife Karla, (both former Horned Frogs, and therefore great people,) joined us today to fish aboard Rum Runnin'. Only problem was, we blew a piston on Rum Runnin' on Tuesday. Total bummer for the client to show up in the morning and not get what they expected, and we feel terrible as well. (The $1200 to fix the engine isn't a good time either.) Ryan and Karla were super cool about switching boats and they had a nice day on the water catching 4 Yellowfin between 20-30lbs. Ryan was looking for "bucket list" Marlin, but they couldn't get one to bite. Next time amigo, for sure. Go Frogs!
Finally, Joe Foster and Chris Turner decided to spend day 2 of 5 inshore focusing on light tackle fishing. They had a nice day with 2 Roosterfish and 1 Dorado.

The warmer the water surely more fish.
As another week goes by we start seeing more wahoo's and Dorados arrive to Cabo San Lucas, that is because waters are warming up every day. Today for example we are almost reaching 80F in the sea temperature. A lot of people say it's not necessarily true since they've caught fish in Cabo during cold seasons and cooler waters and of course its true, especially for Marlin who are here year round but their prime season is from June to November when the waters are warmer. I'd like to see someone catch Dorado or Tuna during the low 60F water temp. It can happen, but the chances are a bit low.
Anyhow, these past two days have been great for fishing. We're still targeting tons of Marlin, Tuna some Dorado and Wahoo.
No signs of Hurrican Adrian, like I posted on our previous fish report it's dying and won't hit Cabo. Seas are 7 ft high with 13 seconds in between. The temperature is 97F and it's starts feeling a bit humid, reminds me of my first year here in Cabo...I sure did not see all that humidity coming.
On Friday June 10th it was still a busy day, we had 5 boats going out.
Mark Burkhart fished on RedRum for 8 hours with Omar and Americo, a day before his trip he came in to check out the place and see what had been biting in the past couple of days. He said he wanted edible fish. His trip turned out great as he and his buddies landed a total of eight 30 lb yellowfin Tunas. He did say it was sort of rought out there but not too bad. Took it like a pro.
Peter Wallace and his party of 4 fished on Tantrum with Ramon and Juan, they were basically out there looking for fish in general. By the end of the day they had caught a total of 4 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 striped Marlin that was 101" and weighed 170 Lbs. Got their trophy fish mounted and will be displaying it at his home in about 3 months! Congrats Pete.
Lori McCullough and her party of 8 fished on the 38' Marlin Too for a full day. They had an awesome time out in the water even though it was a bit slow for them, They only landed a total of 3 yellowfin tuna. Enough for a nice lunch!
Stuart Lin Poor and Margaret Munoz fished on RumRunnin on Friday and Saturday with Captain Javier and Jesus. On day one of their trip they caught a total of 1 striped Marlin around 160 Lbs and 1 Tuna 15 Lbs. On Saturday they caught 5 more tunas and a Wahoo. It was Margaret's first wahoo. Congratulations.
Saturday June 11th.
Another nice Saturday in Cabo and lots of happy customers. The morning started off as usual, greeting customers, getting licenses and walking them down to their boats. The rest was up to their strength and patience.
Kevin and Michelle Krause fished on Tantrum, their trip was supposed to be shared but the other person did not show up. They started a bit late because we were waiting for the other person but 15 minutes past 6:30 and they were out fishing. They caught a total of 6 tunas 30 Lbs each, 1 Blue shark and a 130 Lbs Striped Marlin. Nice!
Justin Trahan from Houston Texas fished on Nuevo with Alex and Manuel. His trip was also cut short to bring back some of his crew but that didn't stop him from going back out and continue his fishing trip. All on his own he caught a total of 6 tuna and a Marlin that was caught early in the morning almost after leaving the dock. Not a bad day at all. He did say there was a time where it felt he was going to catch more fish but I guess they decided not to cooperate that much.
And last but not lease Blaine Wiley fished on RedRum with Omar and Americo for a full day trip with his party of 4 and during the day they landed a total of 2 striped Marlin, 1 Dorado and 2 tunas. Blaine will be fisihign again this Sunday and let's hope he can catch more fish than he did on day 1.
Thanks for Reading.

June 7th, 8th and 9th = Tons of Marlin.
It's been a fantastic week here in Cabo. A lot of questions regarding Hurricane Adrian, All I can say right now is that we are not expecting it to hit Cabo at all. It seems to be heading away from land. Hopefully!, for the next 10 days we're expecting mid 90F degrees and smooth seas.
Of course if anything were to change, we'd let you know, but as of now all trips are scheduled as normal.
Aside from this, it's been a busy week with emails and all, especially because I will be leaving the company soon and have been replying to a lot of emails for the job ad we posted a few days ago. We're in the process of screening resumes and calling people in for an interview. Let's look for the best person.
Fishing has been great, still Marlin, tuna and Dorado are in the lead. This is what we caught in the past few days.

Tuna still around?
They have to be gone by now right? It's been like 6 straight days!
Well, by 10am I thought I had my answer, by 2pm I had changed it, and then by the time I closed the shop I had no clue!
Waymon Wong fished with his Mom and Father-in-law. Unfortunately, Rose didn't do too well with the seas and they had to cut their trip short. I was actually still at the gym when Rene the Mechanic/Dock Manager/Carpenter/Shop Keeper/etc called and said the Wong's were back and he was....packaging their fish? But it was 9:30am? 30 minutes out, 30 minutes back, that puts them at about an hour and forty five minutes of fishing. They caught and released a Striped Marlin, actually it was 68 year old Wing Tsang. Wing was probably the most excited I have seen someone this year about catching a Marlin. Helps you remember why we do what we do. He told me Tequilla and Cigarettes have kept him strong all these years. They also caught 3 Yellowfin and a Dorado in that time frame. Amazing.
So it's 9:30am and they got 3 Tuna right off the bat. Tuna are still arond.
Next back was RedRum, Steve Stivaly and his crew were back and no White (Yellowfin) flags were flying?? They caught 3 nice Dorado, but Captain Omar told me that the Yellowfin bite had slowed down. 3 Dorado is nothing to complain about though, and they enjoyed the fish over at Misiones de Kino which is always a treat.
Ok, now I am confused, Damon Petta and his friend from Pasadena, California (same city that the Rose Bowl is played, pretty sure TCU won that bowl last year) just got back and they had a killer day...and hammered 6 Yellowfin Tuna, as well as 1 Dorado and 1 Striped Marlin.
Jimmy Hehir and his family didn't help me figure anything out as far as the Yellowfin bite because they wanted to focus on Billfish and Dorado. And that they did, fishing on Marlin Too, 3 Striped Marlin and a Mako Shark were caught and released. They also lost a few Dorado and a Wahoo. Another great day for the Hehir family.
Now it's 3pm and TantRum just got back. My decision is done, Yellowfin are gone. Jeremy Thompson and his buddies Alan and Anthony Osborne from Tucson, Arizona couldn't find any Tuna, but did manage to catch and release a nice Striped Marlin!
3:30pm, and Alex and Manuel just got back on El Nuevo... As you might imagine, 7 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Marlin. Unbelievable.
No clue what to expect or what to tell you, you've heard it a million times, but that's why they call it fishing!

Sunday, typical Tuna action with some mixed bag mixed in
Tuna are still around, and still plentiful, and still super close. Cabo never ceases to amaze me! 4 miles offshore, slamming rods and Tuna all over the place! So cool!
My good buddy Jimmy Glover over at http://www.bajainsider.com/ has some friends in town right now and he wanted to get them out for a half day while the fishing was red hot. Destin Brockner, Jason Johnson and Pete Nyiri joined Jesus and Americo aboard RedRum and they managed to pull in 8 Yellowfin and a nice 30 lb Dorado all before 11:30am! Enjoy those Tuna steaks amigos!
Luis Romero and his wife Kristina are visiting from mainland Mexico and he caught word that RedRum was the fleet to fish with. (Thanks to Ty for the recommendation.) Luis was interested in Billfish, and while a lot of customers have been enamored with the Yellowfin bite, the Striped Marlin action has been really hot as well. Luis and his wife caught and released 3 Striped Marlin, and also caught a nice Yellowfin and nice Dorado for dinner.

Luis and his wife caught and released 3 Striped Marlin, and also caught a nice Yellowfin and nice Dorado for dinner.

An apology of sorts...
Hola amigos,
Have to apologize for missing a few posts back on the 1st and 2nd of June. Things have been a little crazy around the Team RedRum household with the Wife in her 9th month of pregnancy. Still trying to pull my weight around the office and covering office duties when Nick has his days off but slacked on the Fish Reports. To sum up the 1st and 2nd, as well as the 3rd, 4th and 5th; TUNA, Yellowfin Tuna and tons of them. Usually, when we see the Yellowfin runs they are 2-3 days long and then the school moves on and we don't see them for another few weeks or so.
Not the case with these Yellowfin, never saw a single Frigate bird working, and never saw a single porpoise cruising through the area. If it wasn't for the electronics telling us we had great temp breaks, and good bait below, most boats would have cruised right past the area. We have been fishing this school straight out of Cabo anywhere from 3-6 miles offshore. Most fish have been in the 20-35 lb range, but I did throw live bait when we had a quadruple hook-up on artificials Saturday, and landed a fish in the 40-45lb range. You'd have to think that a few of the bigger boys are under those 20-40lb fish, but your bait never even gets to em. As soon as my bait hit the water I was bit, I actually got spooled up a bit as it happened even faster than I expected. Out of 11 knockdowns from 7am to 11am, we caught 6 Yellowfin and kept 4. One for the crew, one for myself, and one each for my buddies who came along. Just because you catch 20 doesn't mean it is right, or legal, to keep them all.
That being said, yesterday was the first day we didn't have all our boats come back with Yellowfin. It will be interesting to see what today brings and if the boys can find the school or if they have finally moved on. If they have, I guess we'll just have to fish for the Marlin and Dorado that have been all over the shoreline the past week.
Awesome fishing, really glad the waters warmed up so quickly this year and the fish arrived!!

AWESOME WEEKEND!!!!
Another weekend guys, first weekend of the month and these past couple of days has been fantastic for fishing. Lot's of fish, our freezers are once again filled with fish and waiting for their owners to come pick them up!
Nice warm weather here in Cabo, perfect to be at the beach chillin with your fambam / friends.
Ramiro Duran and his group of 5 fished yesterday on RedRum with Omar and Americo. This time they decided to fish on the Pacific side about 11 miles out. The group ended up catching a total of 13 yellowfin tuna. The guys were excited and just amazed with the wonderful day they had out in the water.
Michael Collins, Thomas Collins and Linda Collins fished on Nuevo with Alex and Manuel. This was a birthday gift from Michael and Linda to Thomas. Thomas had no idea he was flying to Cabo, they tricked him to the airport and while he was there they told him the whole plan! This was, in my opinion, an awesome birthday gift. This group fished for a full day and they landed a total of 14 Yellowfin Tuna and caught and released 2 Striped Marlin. They were glad, had a blast and were happy that the birthday trip has been going so well. All we can say here at RedRum is that we're glad you had a great trip and once again Thomas...Happy Birthday buddy!
Last but not least we had April Bonds and her mom and dad fishing for a half day on our 28' tantrum with Ramon and Juan. Their trip was also fun but there was some seasickness going on for a bit. These strong people did not let that get in the way with their fishing trip and they fished the entire time. They caught a total of 9 Yellowfin tunas between 25-30 Lbs.
AWESOME!
Today's fishing (June 4th) was also amazing. The morning started off a bit crazy and wild but ended in praises and happy customers. Comments going from the best trip of their lives or all the money was well worth it to even what they had been waiting for their entire lives. All comments are well accepted and I do have to be honest it feels great when you know customers had a blast and they come back into the office and brag about their trip. The expression on your faces are priceless.
We had a wedding group today that seemed as though they came from the party straight to the office! This fun group made this fishing trip to join Amber Flores and Scott Hamrick on their first trip as newly weds. Now you can imagine why I say it was a WILD morning! LOL. 13 people total but it seemed like more hahaha. Anyhow, they fished on 3 boats:
On RumRunnin the group of 4 who fished caught a total of 10 Tuna and 1 Striped Marlin
RedRum: The boat Amber and Scott were on caught a total of 2 Striped Marlin and 12 Tuna
and Mucho Loco the remaining boat caught a total of 1 Dorado, 9 Yellowfin tuna and 1 Striped Marlin.
The bite took place early in the morning and as soon as they started fishing, they started catching fish. A bit unusual for this time of year, but it keeps getting better.
Shannon Bartkowiak and her family fished on the 38' blackfin Marlin Too and they also caught a lot of fish, especially Tuna around 12-15 (they lost track)! That's a great sign.
Last but not least loyal Customer Jeff Massengill and his family fished on Nuevo with Alex and Manuel and caught a total of 8 yellowfin tuna tha were about 20-25 Lbs. Thank you Jeff for the words.
And thank you for reading.

May 23rd-36th= AWESOME FISHING!
Hi All!
It's been a very busy week filled with lots of fish , fun and nice warm temperatures! This has been one of the best weeks this year if I may say so!
At the beginning of this week, we thought it would be slow but it started picking up pretty darn good and everyone who has been fishing has been coming back stoaked about their trips. They've kept their fish and taken them to restaurants to get it cooked up, the best praises go to Misiones de Kino for their fantastic job!
Tons of Marlin, Tuna and a few Dorado have been caught and those are the three big spieces that have been biting great this week. We've all read that Tuna and Marlin were great a few weeks back, but now add some Dorado their and you have yourslef a great fishing trip.
Sorry we haven't updated the blog but like I said, it's been crazy, a lot of things going on on this end, and the weekend looks pretty busy as well but we can't complain!
Here is a brief recap of what happened these 3 days.
May 24th:
Michael Wysocki along with friends and family fished on our 33' Nuevo for a full day trip and came back with 3 nice tunas which weighed 25-30 Lbs each and they also caught and released 3 striped Marlins 80,130 and 150 Lbs each.
another successful Marlin fishing trip was with Rob McCalland and his party of 4 who fished on our 28' Tantrum. They wanted Marlin and so they did! they caught a total of two (both were caught and released) they were 90 and 91" each and they weighed 140 and 145 lbs.
May 25th
Lisa Fiorito and Mike Mackessy fished on our33' Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. Their fishing trip consisted of 5 yellowfin tuna and 1 40 lbs Dorado. The tunas were 15-25 Lbs. It was a great day for these folks and they were super friendly! Hope to see you soon.
Ron Matherene and his party of 4 also had a successful fishing trip this day. They fished the Sea of cortez on our 31' RedRum with Omar and Americo. They caught a 100 Lb Marlin (released) 3 yellowfin tuna 15-20 Lbs and 1 Dorado.
May 26th
Quinton Jones and his pals fished on RumRunnin with Javier and Jesus. They fished for a half day but they came accross Marlin and caught a nice 120 pounder! Not bad for a half day especially if we take into consideration that marlin fishing has been far away around 30-35 miles out. Congrats.
David White and his group had initially planned to fish for a full day, but since the waves were a bit high and it started getting a bit choppy out there, they decided to head back in early. During their short trip they landed 2 yellowfin tuna. One was 20 Lbs and the other was 25!
And last but not least, second day of fishing for Ryan Pomroy who fished on Monday as well. This time he and erica went out for a full day and by the end of their trip they had landed 5 big tuna (20-25 Lbs) and 1 striped Marlin. They also fished on the Sea of cortez side.
Thanks for reading and sorry for the delay!

Awesome Saturday in Cabo, Filled with Fish!
Yo yo, What's goin' on people? Nice weather today in Cabo, not a lot of people walking by the Marina today but good fishing has been taking place. I barely found out this morning about the world coming to an end today...yet here we are with all our boats out fishing! Nothing bad yet =0)
Yesterday's fishing was superb, all our boats caught tuna, dorado and marlin!
On RedRum we had Ace Schlameus and his crew fishing for a full day; However, seas were a bit rough so they decided to call it a day just a few hours after they had taken off. Still, even after only fishing for a few hours they caught a total of 2 yellowfin tuna and a Dorado. Not sure how big they were but I'm guessing that the average was 20-25 Lbs for the Tuna and 10-15 Lbs for the Dorado, considering the fact that that's how big the fish were for the other boats who also caught the same fish species.
On Tantrum Ginger Maness and her party of 4 fished for a full day as well but came back early because of the swells. Never the less, they caught 2 striped Marlins between 140-150 Lbs in less than 15 min. They fished on the Sea of Cortez Side.
Charles Wilson fished on RumRunnin, and although his trip was originally scheduled for Thursday, they fished on Friday (Happens to everyone!) anyhow, they had a great day in the water with Javier and Jesus, they landed a Marlin and 2 Tuna.
And last but not least, the "B's!" their last name is a bit hard to pronounce and even to write LOL, Chris Brzozowski and his party of 6 fished on Nuevo with Alex and Manuel. This was their first trip out of two that was planned. They are staying at one of RedRum's Portofino Condos. These CCA members, fished for 8 hours and had a blast out in the water, landing a 100 Lb Striped Marlin and 5 Tunas about 20-25 Lbs each. It took them an hour and 15 min to reel the Marlin which was released in the end. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as great as it was on day 1.
This just in. Kelton and Veronica McCaffrey along with Lance and Kelli Harpe fished on RumRunnin today May 21st and landed a total of 1 Striped Marlin 175 Lbs, 1 Dorado 15 Lbs, 1 Tuna 25 Lbs and a Blue Shark 140 Lbs. They had such a great time in the water and also had a Wahoo but this one eventually got away. Otherwise they would've had their offshore fix set! These nice folks from Napa, California will definitely be coming back again for more Fun. Glad they had a blast...Northern Cali in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for Reading.

Great week.
It's been a while, but we have great news. A lot of great fishing has been going on here in Cabo.
Fishing is no longer only on the sea of cortez side, but it has also started hitting the pacific side. Marlin, Tuna, Dorado are in even though Dorado is still a bit mellow, it's coming in! I can bet this season will be great for Dorado fishing.
Don and Barry Whitaker, CCA Members from San Antonio and Houston fished for two days on our 33' Nuevo. Even though their first trip was a bit slow consisting only of 1 yellowtail, their second trip sure made up for it. On their last trip which was yesterday they caught a total of 7 Yellowfin Tunas and 2 Dorado. The Tunas weighed about 15 - 20 Lbs. Thanks Guys for fishing with RedRum. Hope to see you again in the near future.
Charles Meyers fishin on RumRunnin on Tuesday and caught a total of 1 tuna (15 Lbs) and released an 8 ft 140 Lb Striped Marlin. They fished with Javier and Jesus. It took them 50 mins to catch and release the Striper and was caught on the pacific side, just 11 miles out.
From New Jersey Kurt Wille and his crew fished on Tantrum last Tuesday with Ramon and Juan and after a half day trip they managed to catch and release a Striped Marlin. Not sure how big it was since they got off at the Cruise Ship Dock to walk around. Thanks
Norman Johnson fished on Wednesday with Javier and Jesus and during this full day trip him and his buds landed a 25 Lbs yellowfin Tuna and a 30 Lbs Dorado. Nice!
And on the sea of Cortez side, a shared boat by Randy Becker and Brent Jenson also had a succesful ending. They landed 5 yellowfin tunas about 25 Lbs each. It was a bit slow in the morning but picked up later that day.
John and Ryan Donovan also fished yesterday on RedRum and RumRunnin both boats caugt a total of 10 Yellowfin tunas, the biggest being 30 Lbs, 2 Dorado and 1 Striped Marlin. They had a great day in the water and will be doing it again tomorrow! Let's see how they do.
Thanks

Friday the 13th, what will it bring?
Friday the 13th...
Carl Moberg, down in Cabo for his daughters wedding, decided to add a little more fun to the weekend and took a few guys from the wedding party fishing. Carl fishes commercially in Massachusetts for Striped Bass and we had a nice chat about fishing in his neck of the woods as I occasionally get back that way for Striper and Bluefin fishing. The one thing they don't catch a lot of is Marlin back in his neck of the woods so it was nice that they were able to Catch and Release a nice Striped Marlin.
George Kahle and his two sons, Aaron and Bryan had a nice day on the water with Jesus and Jesus on Rum Runnin'. Father and sons fishing and father and son Captain and Mate! Pretty cool. They caught 2 nice Yellowfin and also hooked a big 108" Striped Marlin that they got to the boat. George came back to the office and told me how impressed he was with the Jesus' and how they were able to get the fish hooked up! Always great to hear about the hard working crews we have!
The Miller party, in from Louisiana on a Stay and Play Package had their second day on the water today and after catching 18 Yellowfin and a Dorado on day one, they had Billfish on their minds. The boys on El Nuevo RedRum did not disappoint as they were able to catch and release 2 nice Striped Marlin! They had a great time at the condos and enjoyed their trip, especially the chef we sent up to the condos to prepare their Yellowfin and Dorado!
Finally, Bob Babei, who joined us from a cruise ship fished today with Cabo Chica. They only had a half -day to fish, but they slayed them out at the 1150! Bob was alone and caught 3 Striped Marlin, 2 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Dorado! Not a bad day on the water, especially a 5 hour half day!

Carl Moberg, down in Cabo for his daughters wedding, decided to add a little more fun to the weekend and took a few guys from the wedding party fishing. Thursday, May 12th Where did the Tuna go?
Wondering where all the Yellowfin from yesterday ran off to? After catching more than 30 Yellowfin yesterday, fish were hard to come by for some reason today.
The Souza family, fishing on Rum Runnin was the first boat back and after seeing a few Marlin that wouldn't bite, their time was up and the half day didn't give them enough time to get hooked up.
Daniel and Dawn Brennan joined us today from the cruise ship and they were able to hook into a random Yellowfin that wasn't swimming with any school mates. They finished up their half day with just the 1 Yellowfin.
Joe Thilbourg and Vanessa Cortez fished RedRum with Omar and Americo and also found a random Yellowfin. While we had a few Yellowfin today, none of the Captains found the big school that brought double and triple hook-ups.
Finally, Don Black and his party, fishing on Marlin Too with Captain Pancho, caught 1 Dorado and 2 Yellowfin Tuna.
Hopefully we can find the big school again tomorrow.

Blogger Craziness
Sorry guys but we just lost a bunch of recent posts....
Not sure why, but certainly a bummer.
I am writing a piece now for Coastal Angler Magazine's June edition and will blog a preview of it here shortly.
Thanks,

IGFA World Billfish Championship's!
Well Alex and Manuel on El Nuevo RedRum have had a great tournament so far and are certainly within striking distance today of reaching the top 5! Right now they are in 8th place with 1230 points after 3 days of fishing. 1200 points for Marlin caught and 30 points for the 3rd largest Dorado of the tournament which was 30lbs.
The IGFA Tournament is different in that you never know who is going to be on your boat each day, the teams are randomly assigned boats and the Captain and Mate are then in charge of putting them on the fish. Once they get there, the Captain and Mate can not help the angler in any way. Some days you are fishing with a team with a ton of experience, other days you aren't.
Everyone misses hook-ups, even our guys, and while El Nuevo had 3 Marlin yesterday, he said they missed 3 more that they should have or could have had.
As the standings sit before today's final day of fishing, Alex is 3 Marlin off the lead.
Wish the guys from El Nuevo RedRum the best today in their quest for the International Game Fish Association's World Championship!

Lots of Tuna, Dorado are coming back!
Lots of tuna out there, Dorado are coming back and we caught and released the first Sailfish of the year! That's what happened yesterday May 10th.
Kurt Schlehuber fished on RedRum with Captain Omar and caught a total of 3 yellowfiin tuna and 1 sailfish. They had a great day in the water, they said they were going to send in their pics so we can show them off the everyone. These 2 couples were the ones who caught the very first sailfish of the year, around 120 Lbs, congrats!
Kyle Thurston fished on his second trip and caught a total of 5 tuna the sizes were between 15-20 Lbs. This group from Wyoming had fished on Monday and ended their trip yesterday with these nice edible fish!
Dennis Byrd and friends from Houston Texas fished on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. THey caught a total of 3 Yellowfin Tuna about 20 Lbs each and 1 striped Marlin (caught and released) about 150 Lbs. Some got a bit seasick but decided to stay out their 8 horus rather than coming back in. Thanks!
Today fishing is no exception, it's still great! We caught more Tuna than yesterday
From Matagorda Texas CCA group Terri Miller and friends went out on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and landed a total of 18 Yellowfin tuna as well as 1 dorado. They were going to get Chef cesar to come in tomorrow night and have a nice meal cooked up at the Portofino Condos. Thanks guys see you on Friday.
From Seattle Amber Ternan and David Gregory fished on RedRum with Omar and Americo and caught a total of 10 yellowfin tuna. 25 lbs each.
We still waiting for one more boat to come back in. Lets see how they do!

Hi everyone!
Hope everyone up north had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday.
Brothers, Patrick and & Ross Hardage from Los Angeles and Dallas headed out this morning with Omar aboard RedRum. Patrick had been down fishing with us once before over a year ago and is back for more! They headed straight out from the Arch about 20 miles where they had a phenomenal day on the water. They pulled in 6 Yellow Fin Tuna, in the 20-25 lb. weight range. One good sized Dorado and a whopping 40 lb. Wahoo! Excellent job guys! They'll have plenty of fish to eat for weeks to come. Don't forget, when you fish with RedRum, we vacuum seal and freeze your catch so you are easily able to take it home with you in a plastic cooler as a checked bag on your airline. These two are ecstatic to be bringing some fresh catch home with them. Hope to see you guys again soon!
The guys on TantRum in the Thurston party from Jackson Hole, Wyoming had a good day out on the water with Captain Ramon. They headed out towards San Jose on the Sea of Cortez about 14 miles out from the Palmilla. Despite a hot semi calm day on land the seas out there were a bit rough, but they managed to pull in three, 20-25 lb. Yellow Fin Tuna on board. They'll be enjoying a nice Tuna steak dinner. Check back in tomorrow to see how the Thurston party does on Day 2.
That's all she wrote. Check in tomorrow for the latest and greatest!
Thanks, Brooke +1

A bunch of Marlin and Tuna!
Happy Mothers day everyone! What are the plans for you guys on this Sunday? Remember to embrace and love your Momma! without them, we would not be here.
Fishing here in Cabo has been great these past two days. Lots of Marlin and Tuna are biting right now which is awesome considering that Tuna had been gone for quite a while but it seems like they are back and not too far away!
We've been catching Tuna around 11 miles out of here, so if you have a scheduled trip, make sure you speak to your crew for the best fishing options!
On May 6th we had 5 boats going out.
Fisrt we had Stephen Knight who did a half day fishing with Ramon and Juan. Stephen from the UK caught a total of 3 Striped Marlin and 1 Yellowtail during the 4 days he fished with us. He began his fishing trip on May 4th along with Katherine Knight but after day 1 Kathy decided to stay away from the boat and do girl stuff the following 3 days. Stephen, decided to go solo and had a great trip out there. Hopefully, he'll come again for more fun. He sent in some pictures which I will post shortly.
Ron Frost fished on RumRunnin this Friday and caught and released a 71/2 120Lbs Striped Marlin. He fished with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus along with Chris, Aaron and Dennis. These guys had a great day in the water and really enjoyed fighting the Marlin.
Greg Walsh and Rachel Schlanger fished on a Mucho Loco boat and caught 1 Marlin and 1 Dorado. They did not come back to the office after their trip but I heard from the crew that they were excited about their catch. They had a great trip out there and I'm sure we'll hear from them soon.
Ryan Donovan and his family went out on our 33' Nuevo and their trip was all about Tuna and Marlin. They caught and released a Marlin and kept the tuna. It was a great day out in the water for the Donovan's who were here in Cabo for Ryan and Brooke's baby shower!
May 7th (yesterday) was also good fishing, From Austin Texas and on their second trip, Brian Replogle, John Sparrow and Shane Goodman fished for a second time on Nuevo with Captain alex and manuel. This time they caught a total of 7 yellowfin tuna and a striped Marlin. These nice folks bought their S&P package through CCA. Brian told me this morning that he was plannin on bidding for another package in the upcoming auction! Hope to see him around again. The ladies decided to enjoy a Saturday at the malls, spa and doing other girl stuff while the guys enjoyed a nice cold beer while heading out for their catch. They had Chef Cesar come into the condo to fix up a nice meal with their tuna. They had a great time last night.
David and Martha Bauer fished for a half day on our 31' RedRum with Captain Omar and mate Americo. Their trip began at 11 AM and had a slow but good day. Their total catch was 2 yellowfin.
From Sacramento California, Moira Sharma and Tim Aspinwall fished on our 32' RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. They did a half day trip and caught a total of 2 yellowfin. They took some fish to get it cooked up, Ithink they were going to go to Misiones de Kino with our friends Israel and Renee, the rest of the fished they donated it to RedRum. Thanks guys!
Thanks for reading and have an awesome Sunday!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
What's happening people!
Happy CINCO DE MAYO!!! and it's weird but here in Mexico we really don't celebrate it as they do back in the states I don't know why! They should though since it was the first battle where Mexico's army defeated a strong Force (The French Force).
But on to the fishing news.
MARLIN, Marlin and more Marlin. The 1150 and 95 banks are still the places to go fishing. Like we've said in previous posts, it's 30 miles out around an hour and half to get there, but we've been successful in most of our attempts.
These past couple of days have all been about offshore fishing rather than inshore. There was a day where inshore was basically not biting to well but everyone who did offshore caught fish.
May 3rd:
Mike Nitido and his gang fished on RumRunnin with Javier and Jesus and together they reeled and released a striped Marlin. Not sure how bit it was though, but I know they fished on the 1150.
Raul Couret fished on Nuevo along with his peeps and this group had an awesome day out there. They caught a total of 3 stripers! They were all caught and released. The weights were 80lbs, 120lbs and 160lbs. They had a great day with Alex and Manuel. Congrats
Last but not least Dennis Anderson fished on a panga and he landed 4 nice spanish mackerels. 10 lbs each.
May 4th
Stephen & Katherine Knight fished on their first out of four trips with us. On their first day they got upgraded to a bigger boat (what a nice way to start off their fishing trip) they went out with Alex and Manuel and landed a total of 2 Striped Marlin that were 130 and 190 Lbs, the latter took almost 2 hours of fighting!
David Gonzales fished on his second trip on RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo and also landed a Marlin. These guys are currently fishing on the same boat and hopefully they'll catch more fish today.

Monday's Marlin Madness...
Everybody was after the Billfish today! No one wanted to stay inshore and chase the Roosters or the few remaining Yellowtail, but no problem. Off towards the 95, and 1150 Banks the boys went with Mackeral and Ballyhoo rigged and ready.
Brad Major and Jennifer Bond were the first boat back with Captain Javier and his mate Jesus, they were the lucky winners today with 2 Marlin caught and released. Avid fishermen in Florida, they were stoked to be able to get on the Billfish as they get their fill of Dorado (chicken dorado) and Tuna back home.
Rick and Nancy Casper fishing aboard RedRum with Captain Omar were also able to coax a nice 150lb class Striped Marlin into eating. They were very excited about their catch as they had thrown bait to several Marlin before getting this one to bite!
Finally, William and Marlea Roberts, along with Ramon and Jesus caught and released another nice size Striped Marlin in the 150lb class. Great to see that with the arrival of the mid-70's water in the area we are also starting to see large amounts of billfish. Couldn't come at a better time as the International Game Fish Association's World Championships are coming up next week and Captain Alex and Mate Manuel will be fishing the tournament aboard El Nuevo RedRum!

Roosters Roosters!
Finally found a few of these pesky little guys! Mind you Roosters around Los Cabos don't really stick to a certain time frame of when they come and go, at least from what I have seen the past 5 years.
That being said Captain Omar and his clients, Dan and Paige Sciantarelli, were the first ones back to Marina after fishing a half-day aboard RedRum. Omar found a huge concentration of bait up on the Pacific side, near the lighthouse and they caught 7 Sierra and 7 Roosterfish. A few of the Roosters were in the 20lb range! Cool to see the Roosters banging around on the inshore again.
Our next group was Spencer Falls and his Stay and Play Package group from Texas. They fished again on El Nuevo RedRum and after 3 Marlin on day 1, they too wanted to try a bit of inshore fishing. They had a nice mixed bag with 4 Sierra, 4 Yellowtail, 1 Skipjack, and 1 Rooster. About mid-day they decided to head offshore for a bit and they were able to also Catch and Release their 4th Marlin of the trip! Great meeting you guys, and hope to see you back down here again next year.
James and Janel Rossetto and friends Phil and Kathy Schneider fished aboard Rum Runnin' with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. These guys were after Billfish and wanted some action. After spotting and pitching bait to several fish, they were finally able to Catch and Release a really nice 10ft Striped Marlin. Congrats on your first Billfish guys!
Chris Rowe, our good friend from Las Vegas, Nevada, was down celebrating his birthday with a bunch of friends and few of them decided to head out on the 38' Blackfin MarlinToo. Chris is Marlin guy and Captain Pancho was able to put him on 2 nice Stripers, both were caught and released.

8 Striped Marlin!
Hey there, definitely 92F today, very very hot day but still it's way better than having cool weather here in Cabo!
Before I begin off with the fish report I want to wish Ryan Donovan a Happy Birthday, today he's out in the water with a group of friends just chillin and having a good time. I'll see that he posts *some pics of his awesome theme birthday bash! Happy birthday bro!
So today was an awesome day 8 Striped Marlin in total. All our boats caught Marlin, some were released most of them except 1 which unfortunately had to be landed because it was too hurt.
First group is CCA member Spencer Falls who fished today on Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. This group caught and released a total of 3 Striped Marlin which weighed 120, 140 and 170 Lbs! nice job. Spencer will be fishing again tomorrow, same boat, same crew and we hope he does as good as he did today.
From Chicago and San Francisco we had Nick DeDomonic and his party of 12 fishing on RedRum and Mucho Loco.
The guys on RedRum caught and releasde a 70 Lbs Striped Marlin. Not a big one but still they had a great time in the water and were stoaked with their catch!
Mucho Loco is still not back, but I hear they also had a marlin, let's see and will post the info!
Scott Jones and his group of 10 also fished on two boats today. One of the groups fished on RumRunnin with captain Javier and Mate Jesus. They caught 2 striped Marlin. One of them was 150 Lbs and was 101 inches. These guys were extremely happy when they came back to the office, and who wouldn't after such a great day!
On Tantrum with CAptain Ramon and Mate Juan the other group also landed 2 Striped Marlin the biggest one being 108inches and weighed 150 Lbs! Not bad either. Congratulations to both groups for their awesome day in the water. Time to celebrate with some cold beers to make up for this hot day.
Thanks for reading.

Mara's Team: Cabo San Lucas
Today in Waupaca, Wisconsin, hundreds of friends and family are gathering for a walk in honor of Mara Stange. Mara's father, Mark, is a long-time friend and customer of ours and this years has been a tiring one. Mark's daughter, after many Doctor visits and tests, was diagnosed with a bran tumor called Pediatric Low Grade Astrocytoma or "PLGA.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for this type of cancer and the treatments that do exist are outdated, toxic and ultimately toturous to the thousands of kids affected. Bran tumors are the # 1 cause of cancer death in children, and the #2 overall cause of childhood death behind accidents. PLGA's are the most common type of childhood brain tumor, yet sadly, funding and research for better treatments and an eventual cure lad dramatically behind other cancers.

Mara is a tough little 7 year old who is going about her life as best as she can, and while she knows that she is sick, her parents have decided not to give her all the horrifying details. Some children live with the condition for a few years, others for a few months.
While we couldn't be in Waupaca today to join Mark and the hundreds of friends and family that have joined the walk, we are supporting him as best as we can with the pink t-shirts you see our crew wearing today. Give thanks for your health, and say a small prayer for a darling little girl.

More Marlin to the charts!
All I can say is that Ronald Malone Sr and Jr are a very lucky team, I don't want to jinx them since they are still fishing, but in their second trip which took place yesterday aboard Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel, they caught and released 4 striped Marlin that averaged between the 100 Lbs to 140.
They fished on the sea of cortez side on the 1150 and 95 bank. Today is their last day fishing with us and they are still in the water, haven't heard from their captain yet, so hopefully when they come back they give us another great result.
We also had 3 more boats going out yesterday but they did not have as much luck as we and they would've expected, still they came back to the office and said they had a great time in the water.
Today we have all our boats plus partner boats in the water, we wish them all good luck and I'll let you know how they did tomorrow!

Sea of Cortez is where the action is!
Hey ya'll
Happy Humpday! two more days and the weekend is here! Nice warm weather here in cabo, we're almost reaching 90F and the mornings do start feeling warmer than before, so hopefully by the beginning of next month which is right around the corner, we'll be saying bye to the morning light jackets and sweathshirts.
Yesterday's fishing was great, it's all taking place on the Sea of Cortez like previous weeks. Marlin is still out there people, we've been very successful with this fish.
Jeff Gigoux fished solo on RedRum with Captain Americo and mate Edgar, he wen't offshore and decided to fish for Marlin rather than smaller species. By the end of the day he had caught and released a 160 Lbs Striper!
On their second and last fishing trip for this year, Brad and Jennifer Boehm (whose name I misspelled on our white board) were on RumRunnin with Captain Jesus and Mate Jesus and on this trip they caught and released a 7 ft 160 Lbs Striped Marlin. Jennifer said seas were way more calm than last week so that's always a plus!
On a half day trip we had Lindsay and Scott Holsenback who fished on tantrum with captain Ramon and Mate Juan. Their catch consisted of 1 yellowtail and 8 Spanish Mackerel. All the fish they caught was caught and released, and they had an awesome time doing inshore fishing.
And last but certainly not least we had Ronald Sr and Jr Malone fishing on Nuevo on their first trip out of three. Captain Alex and Mate Manuel worked it off and managed to catch and release 2 striped Marlin. All of this by the 1150 bank.

Succesful Saturday!
Another nice day in Cabo with warm temperatures and great fishing!
We had 3 boats go out today two of them were full days and one was a half day.
Fishing took place on the Sea of Cortez side by the 1150 bank and the gordo banks.
From New York Georgle Colotti, Jeremy Colotti and Robert Venezia fished for a full day on Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. These guys from CCA will be fishing with us for the next couople of days and hopefully they will be as successful as today. They caught and released a total of 2 Striped Marlin one of them weighing 200Lbs while the other was 150Lbs. Very good! This awesome group will surely have fun in their next trip tomorrow and they seemed eager to go back into the water.
From New Jersey we had Bill Hammill and Greg Rutollo fishing on Tantrum with Captain Ramon and mate Jesus. These guys did a half day and caught a total of 6 Spanish Mackerels and 2 jack grevalles. They had a great day in the water, and promised to be back soon!
Chris Kelleher fished on Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel they caught a total of 4 Striped Marlin whose average size was 102" with the weight being 160 Lbs.
Without a doubt this was one of the best fishing days this whole month. Luckily this whole week has been great for fishing and lets hope it stays that way!
Thanks

More Marlin and now Dorado!
Another succesful Saturday here in Cabo guys!
Our customers did great in the water on April 22nd. We had 3 of our boats go out and all came back with fish.
On RedRum, our 31', Matt & Laura Muldoon along with Tyler and Maura Wynn fished for a full day on the Sea of Cortez Side. They stuck to fishing for something big and not go for small fish. Their total catch consisted of 2 striped Marlins that weighed around 140 Lbs each.
From New Jersey, Amy and Dale Barlet fished for a second day on our 33' Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. Their total catch for this second trip was 1 Marlin (100 Lbs) 10 spanish mackerels, 1 yellowtail and 10 bonita. This group had a great fishing trip.
And last but not least Bryan Clinton and Maryann Markla fished on our 32' RumRunnin with Captain Jesus and Mate Ramon. This team caught the very first Dorado that weighed 30 Lbs. WE haven't seen a Dorado in a long time! so congrats to these two!
ASide from the Dorado, they also reeled in a 7 ft Marlin and 6 Spanish Mackerel.

Marlin, Marlin, Marlin!
Hey Everyone,
Are all you out celebrating Easter Week?? Here at the office we are working and making customers very VERY happy!
We've been gone for 2 days but here is our fish report for March 20th and 21st.
Before I begin I want to congratulate Patrick and Jennifer Quigley for their wedding anniversary. Nice way to celebrate out in the water and with a Marlin! Congrats you two on behalf of the whole RedRum Staff
And starting off the fish report, lets begin with Patrick and Jennifer Quigley who fished twice with Javier and Jesus on RumRunnin. On their first trip which was on the 20th they went offshore looking for big fish and came across an 8ft 140 Lbs Striped Marlin. They were a bit hesitant in going out yesterday since they felt seas were a bit too rough. Luckily they decided to come and I'm glad they did because on the 21st they also caught a 120 Lbs Striped Marlin along with 1 Sierra and 1 Yellowtail. They were stoaked, happy and were heading to the beach to drink a nice glass of Champagne!
Frank Woo also fished on the 20th and 21st. He fished with Alex and Manuel on Nuevo. These guys from Sacramento California had an awesome trip. Even though they decided to start a bit late they were still a lucky group. ON day 1 they caught a total of 2 yellowtail, 11 sierra and 8 Jack Grevalles. Yesterday, they headed offshore by Sea of Cortez and caught a Striped Marlin about 120 lbs. Congrats!
Michael Maffucci and Jose Matos also decided to give the offshore fishing a try and take that risk in going out 35 miles for big fish. These guys from New York landed 2 Striped Marlins. One of them was 100 Lbs while the second one was 130 Lbs. They fished on Tantrum with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan.
From Phoenix Arizona Craig Collins and Steve Ruffin fished on RedRum with Captain Americo and mate Edgar on April 21st. They caught a total of 15 Sierra and 1 amberjack. They too had an awesome trip with RedRum.
And last but not least we had Robet Marcoux who just wanted to do inshore fishing on a panga for 5 hours and catch some yellowtail. He landed a yellowtail and 3 sierras. Lost a few but still had enought for dinner yesterday night.
Thanks for Reading.

Good Fishing!
Hey Guys,
Great Tuesday it was. We had such an awesome fishing day. Pacific side for inshore fishing is starting to pick up while bigger fish such as Marlin is still on the Sea of Cortez and about 1.5 hrs away from here. Water is still a bit cool.
We had John Schipper and his party of 6 fish on RedRum with Captain Americo and Mate Edgar. These guys decided to head out to the Sea of Cortez in search of Marlin and not only did they catch 1 but 2!
They wen't out 30 miles and the weights were aprox. 120 and 130 Lbs.
Brad & Jennifer Bohem and Daniel 7 Kathy Brusca fished for a full day on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. These guys had a great day in the water and even though it was a bit choppy out there, they still had fun and managed to catch 2 nice size Yellowtails. The weights were 40 Lbs each. They took the fish back home and were going to enjoy a nice meal. Their next trip is scheduled for next Tuesday and I know they will want to go for something bigger this time!
And last but not least we had the Paleczny party fishing on Nuevo with Jesus and Manuel as their crew. These guys did great! they caught a total of 7 yellowtail, 1 jack grevalle and 6 spanish mackerel. Congrats to all our customers for their successful fishing trip!

Sunday Session
After running 35 miles to Iman Bank and seeing countless Marlin the day before, the two crews that fished Sunday were eager to get back and give it another shot. Couldn't go up there two days and a row and find Marlin that wouldn't eat could we?
Absolutely not.
Mike Rutkowski took out his son Michael and friend Stephen Zelenka aboard Rum Runnin' today. Sr. had caught a Marlin before, but he was anxious to give Jr. a shot at one as well. Captain Jesus was up to the task. He ran up to Iman bank and found plenty of Marlin free jumping, but not many tailers. After rigging a dead Ballyhoo on the shotgun pole, Jr. had his fish. After a 25 minute battle Michael had landed his first Striped Marlin. Congrats buddy!
The Duncan clan was also keen to catch a Marlin and they were fishing aboard RedRum. This is a very similar story to the one above, only the roles were reversed. Jacob Duncan had caught a Marlin before, however, his dad Franklin had not. Americo and Manuel also ran up to Iman bank and after a long day they were finally able to hook one on a live pitch bait. Franklin, congrats on your first billfish as well!
Best,
Ryan

Rough Saturday, Smooth Seas
While we had beautifully calm seas on Saturday, the fish didn't want to cooperate. Not sure if the feeding frenzy Friday kept the fish from biting Saturday or if the big full moon had something to do with it, but the Marlin didn't want to eat. You can lead a horse to water right?
Chris Vine fished a half-day with his wife Christal, friends Ken and Becky Roux, as well as Brian Roux and Jaime Fisher. Captain Javier on Rum Runnnin', stayed inshore on the half-day and the six anglers caught a few Skippies and 3 Sierra that they brought back to cook up for dinner. Chris is thinking about fishing the Western Outdoor News Tuna Jackpot with us this year after being impressed by the boats and crews.
RedRum, El Nuevo RedRum and TantRum all came back shaking their heads wondering why they couldn't get Marlin to bite as they all saw multiple Marlin.
Captain Pancho on Marlin Too was the only one able to get a few fish to bite as anglers Sean Plummer and Jeff Koll each got to catch and release a nice Striped Marlin. This was Sean's first Billfish and he was stoked!
Best,
Ryan

Marlin is back in action!
So the 411 we got on the marlin bite was actually true! Punta Gorda is the hot spot right now for Marlin fishing. This place is an hour and so away from Cabo San Lucas, so if you are doing a full day charter you definitely have to give it a shot, who knows, maybe you'll be the next person to catch and release a Striper!
Our first customer to come back today was Jason Perri and his party of 6 (Frank, Michael, Stefani and two small kids) these guys did a half day trip and only focused on small fish. Their trip with Alex and Manuel was fun and they caught a total of 1 skipjack and 1 sierra. Not bad for a half day.
Mark and Mellissa Kellenberger fished on Tantrum for a full day with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan. This couple from Michigan had an awesome time today. They landed 2 striped Marlin that took them 30-45 min to reel in. They were 140 & 170 Lbs. AWESOME!
And last but not least Jason Langen, Jenn Lempiala, Tylor Squire & Courtney Camelot fished on RedRum with Omar and Americo and they also had a great day in the water. They only focused on Marlin and took the suggestion to go to Punta Gorda. By 8 AM they were ready to start reeling. They landed 2 striped Marlin and took them 30-35 min each to get them in. They weighed 120 & 160 Lbs! Another great fishing experience. Hope these guys from Canada spread the word!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

More inshore bite
Inshore fishing is still great. Not a lot of our customers are up to go out 30 miles off for Marlin so they decide to stick with inshore fishing. And yesterday we got heads up on the Marlin Bite which is great by the Gordo Banks, like an hour and 15 min away.
Fred and Krista Moore fished for a half day on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus and these folks from Houston Texas had a great day in the water, they enjoyed it all the way. They caught 6 Sierra, 1 Red Snapper and 1 Pampano.
From Idaho we had Earle Giles and Bill Aim fishing for a half day on a Panga boat and they landed 4 yellowtails. Not bad! great job guys.
On Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel we had Scott and Adan Lawford along with Matthew Dill fishing for a full day and they managed to catch and release 1 striped Marlin that weighed 120 Lbs and was 9 ft. This was caught by the 1150 bank.
And last but not least Bryan Bledsoe fished with his family for a full day trip and they caught 6 sierra on day 1 of their 2 trips scheduled with RedRum. Hopefully tomorrow they will have another awesome trip.
Thanks

Marlin, Sierra and Bonitas. Great Weekend!
Hey Ya'll.
Great weekend here in Cabo, tourism a bit mellow but not too bad. It gave me a bit of time to get done with office stuff I had been draggin for a while now!
Anyhow on to the fishing report.
On Saturday April 9th
We had David Daniel, Vickie Foley, Napoleon Espinoza and Liz Espinoza fishing on our 33' Nuevo for a full day. These guys had an awesome trip fishing on The Sea of Cortez, specifically on the 1150 bank. They landed a 160 Lbs striped Marlin. They all shared turns and gave it a try. It was a great day for these folks, glad they enjoyed it.
Sean and Anne Greene went out for their second trip and also landed a 130 Lbs Striped Marlin and 1 yellowtail. Their final number for both days was 2 striped Marlin and 1 yellowtail. They fished on the Sea of Cortez as well. Once again their crew was Omar and Americo from our 31' RedRum
Keith Wright fished for a half day on Tatrum alongside Renee Wright. They had a good time in the water as well and caught a total of 6 Spanish Mackerel.
Yesterday we had 2 boats go out and they were both half days, still fishing was good!
Keith McIntosh and his party of 7 fisihed on our 33' Nuevo with Captain Alex and mate Manuel. They landeded a total of 10 Spanish Mackerel and 15 Skipjacks. Not a bad day at all!
And last but not least Alan Humphrey, Michael Humphrey and Paula Perez from Mexico City also joined us in half day fishing trip with Captain Omar and mate Americo. Their fishing consisted of 5 Spanish Mackerel and 1 Yellowtail.
Thanks for reading.

Stripers on the Sea of Cortez!
Hey All,
Everything has been calm here in Cabo and we hadn't updated our fish report because the last few days there hasn't been much to report.
However, yesterday was different. We fished on the Sea of Cortez by the 1150 bank and fishing was good. Especially for Marlin which is what we caught and released yesterday.
On Tantrum we had Dale Clayton, Theresa Clayton, Garrett Clayton and Brett Thompson who fished with Captain Ramon and mate Juan on a full day trip. These guys landed an 8 ft 150 Lbs Striped Marlin in 40 mins. It's not a bad day at all considering several facts such as strong winds, not the right time for Marlin and basically weather conditions. I'm glad they had a fun trip. They came back to the office really excited and stoked with their day in the water. They'll be sending pictures and video soon!
Our second and last group to fish yesterday was Sean and Anne Greene who booked a two day fishing trip with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. On their first day they also landed a Striped Marlin by the 1150 bank and it was aprox. 140 Lbs. Today they're out fishing again and were planning on going for something smaller this time. We'll keep you posted on what their final catch was!
Have a great Saturday.

Nick
