It was a day of celebrating for clients and a super busy day for me at the office. With Ryan still on his guys trip, Diana out sick and 2 groups of clients checking in at the condos for the Stay & Play I was one worn out woman.
But there was celebrating to be had on the boats. We had 2 couples on their honeymoon, 1 birthday and 1 bachelor party. Let's party I say!
Mindi and Caleb (now) Leonard from Oklahoma just got done saying their nuptials before they headed down to Cabo for their honeymoon. They set sail towards the Pacific side with Omar and Americo on ReelRum and reeled in 2 nice 25 pound Tuna.
The second honeymooners were Dave and Agnes Nowak from Chicago. They had a great newly wed day on the water with 4 Tuna and 1 Dorado caught aboard RumRunnin.
Paul managed to get 4 out of 5 of his buddies out of bed after a night of partying in Cabo. You guessed it, this is the bachelor party group. With about 3 cases of beer being loaded onto the boat before sunrise these 5 serious fisherman were ready for fun and fish. Carlos, Paul, Jarrett, Jason and Ramiro headed out on the RedBeam with Marcial. The fish weren't biting. "The guys worked their tails off and did everything they could by switching line, baits, positions etc. I'd bitch if I could but I can't, they did a great job." said Jarrett. That says it all folks, our crews will do their best to get you on the fish, but we can't make them bite. The guys had a good time despite the few fish caught (heck who can't with 3 cases of beer!) And Paul the Bachelor was able to reel in the 1 Tuna that made it on board.
And last but not least was the Coens, Joseph Sr., Lorraine and son Joseph Jr. were down for two reason. One was Joseph Jr's birthday the other was to get dad on that billfish and catch dinner! Aboard El Nuevo the Coens headed out to Los Arcos in hopes of reeling in something. They did will reeling in the dinner that they hoped for, 3 Tunas around 15 pounds each and 3 Dorado around 25 pounds each. Nice job guys and Happy Birthday to you Joesph, I think the 25th is your actual birthday. Looks like tomorrow dad will have a chance to reel in that billfish. See you tomorrow.
Hasta Pronto!

Thunder, Lightening and a Brief Shower
Around 8:30am the sun coming through my window was covered by a pack of dark clouds. They looked menacing but I figured they were just teasing as usual. Then at 11am the thunder, lightening and shower show began. It didn't last more than an hour but the port captain ordered all the boats in and ended our fishing daily earlier than we would have liked.
Thankfully the guys on our 28' ReelRum had already planned on fishing a second day on Sunday so they'll have a chance for a nie catch soon.
The Weaver group from Texas went out on our 33' El Nuevo and managed to come back with 3 Dorado, one of which was released. They caught the 25-30lbs fish just short of Golden Gate on the Pacific side.

September 23rd
Well I’m back in the office for a few days while my husband Ryan heads up to Clemson to root on not Clemson but our alma matter TCU. GO FROGS! Yup, it’s a boys trip so I was off the invite list, but am covering the fort while the guys get themselves into trouble up there. I’m glad to report the latest and greatest at RedRum in Cabo San Lucas.
The glowing honeymooners Nathan and Jessica from Tampa arrived early off of the RedBeam this afternoon. Jessica wasn’t feeling too well on the water and wanted to head in. But just when they were heading back from the Lighthouse the Captain and Mate on RedBeam fired a few lures in the water after some trolling in the morning. And BAM, BAM, BAM just like that a triple Marlin hook-up in minutes! Jessica was suddenly feeling a bit better. Muneca the mate had to get on the 3rd Marlin as the honeymooners were a few hands short. Muneca’s Marlin got away which he called a “Mexican release”. But Nathan and Jessica fought for 2 hours! They were able to pull their 180-200 pound Marlins on board for some pictures and released them all before 1 pm. That’s a heck of a morning on the Pacific!
The office was a whirlwind as the rest of the crews came back around 3:30. Chris, John, Russel and Rene headed out again on El Nuevo. The fish were putting up a fight as they were out around Los Arcos in the Pacific side. The got on a Wahoo but it got away. They just couldn’t get them on board. The guys got into about 3-4 Dorado as well and lost them in the fight, but ended up with one to cook up back at the condos. These guys will enjoy a nice dinner back at the Portofino Condos in their Stay & Play package.
Our dear friend Kaye Peters had her family in town and her dad had his eyes on catching that BIG Billfish. All aboard RumRunnin was Jona, Jerry & Cordelia Swaford along with the lovely Kaye. They headed out to the Pacific Side and saw a lot of Marlin out on the surface as they were pitching live bait, but just couldn’t get them to bite. The had the feather lures out for the Dorado, but they weren’t having it either. As they headed toward Mirgrino on the Pacific side about a mile out, Jerry got that BIG fish, that Sailfish that he’s always dreamed of!
Yvette & Tracy from Newburgh, Indiana headed out on ReelRum with Omar & Americo. Out to Golden Gate they ran hoping to get on some fish for dinner. They were able to catch 2 nice Dorado on live bait and a nice Tuna on a lure. We’ve got their cooler here to vacuum seal and freeze their catch and the rest they’ll be eating at Missiones de Kino for dinner!

Tuesday's Report
Chris Sadlers CCA Play and Stay group from Louisiana wanted to target the Billfish today and while the bit for Marlin still hasn't arrived in ridiculous numbers here in Los Cabos, they were able to catch and release a nice 9ft Striped Marlin.
Sean and Elizibeth McCrary from Dallas, Texas were referred to us from a friend from TCU and they were excited about their trip with us. After a slow start to the morning, Omar and Americo ended up finding the fish late and after catching 10 Yellowfin within an hour, they were then able to catch a nice Stiped Marlin which Sean described as one of the Top 10 Highlights of his life!
Finally, we had Jason and Jacque Tedesco fishing with us aboard Rum Runnin with Javier and Manuel. Javier really like what he saw water temperature wise on the Sea of Cortez, and while the fishing has been good on the Pacific, he decided to take a chance with the Cortez. Good call Javier! The Tedesco's fished the 95 spot with live bait for the Dorado and feathers for the Tuna. They ended up with 8 Tuna and 3 Dorado.
- I am off to Dallas and then Clemson, South Carolina for a little guys trip to watch the TCU Horned Frogs do battle with the Clemson Tigers, it's up to Brooke and Diana to run the show. See you Monday.

Monday's update
Joe Gaar and his wife April are down visiting from Louisiana and after catching a Marlin on his last trip, it was April's turn. The Gaar's had a great day with Alex and Ramon on El Nuevo and while originally scheduled for a half day, they were having too much fun and decided to stay out for the full day once they were into the action. After hooking up with a Striped Marlin briefly in the beginning of the trip, then catching 4 Yellowfin and a Dorado, April's turn finally came. Ramon pitched the right bait to the right fish and her battle was on. 35 minutes later, after a successful catch and release, April earned her Marlin flag. Congrats April, and come back and see us soon.
Next up was Kyra Williams and Ryan Covino from Boston, Mass. Kyra and Ryan were all about getting out for a day on the water and hopefully chasing some Billfish. While the Billfish didn't cooperate, Javier and Manuel did put them on the fish today. Kyra and Ryan finished up with 6 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Dorado which they enjoyed over at Mango Cantina with the crew of Rum Runnin. Next up, was Wild Canyon Zip Line Park and Dune Buggy's with Wide Open.
Finally, our good friend from Cabo Kaye Peters and her Dad Jerry, Stepmom Jona and Sister Cordelia headed out with Omar and Juan aboard ReelRum. Jerry has always wanted to catch and Billfish and while they put in the time today, they couldn't get one to bite. As soon as they switched gears, and opened the first beers, they were into the Dorado. Finishing up with 4 Dorado, which they were nice enough to share with us at Missiones de Kino, Jerry will have to wait until Wednesday to try to catch the elusive Marlin.

Sunday's Report
Trista Bolinger, Justin Lewis, and Carrington Brown, all from TCU and Lindsay Brown, Carrington's wife, headed out with the boys on Rum Runnin for a half day of fishing today. They hooked into a Marlin which spit the hook after only a few minutes, and Carrington fought a nice Wahoo all the way to the boat, before it too spit the hook and got away at the last second. I guess it wasn't in the cards for these guys today, Fish 2 Clients 0. Next time guys, that's why they call it fishing. Nice to see some familiar faces from school though, hope to see you back in Cabo soon.
Heather and James Graham shared a boat with Donovan Rittenbach today and they had a great day. They pulled in 3 nice sized Yellowfin and a Mako shark, and Donovan went to battle with a monster. For nearly 2.5 hours, Donovan pulled on a giant Yellowfin Tuna. Americo the mate who pitched bait, said the fish left a hole in the water the size of a VW Bug when it took the live bait offering. Rigged with 50lb test, the pitch bait rod turned out to be no match for this monster that Omar and Americo estimated at well over 200lbs. Way to get after it Donovan, I think you may need to join a few other Donovan's this year in defense of our 1st Place finish in the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot last year.
Daren Gann, along with friends Karen Carrington, Cary Carrington, John Harrell, Marlene Feroni, and Matthew Judy joined Fabian and Marshall aboard the RedBeam today. Daren kept his hot streak going and everyone got to spend ample time on the rod and reel. When it was said and done, they had 14 Dorado to show for their day on the water. Great stuff Daren, enjoy the filets.

Mucha Tuna y Dorado
Peter and David from New Jersey and California went out for the second time this week, this time on one of our 28’ partner boats. They fished the Pacific side, seventeen miles out and caught 8 Dorado weighing up to forty pounds as well as 2 Tuna that weighed up to forty pounds as well. They fought a big Tuna but it got away. They also fought a Striped Marlin but it broke the line.
Todd and Chris from Texas went out for the second time this week, this time on our 32’ RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Manuel. They fished Jimmy banks on the Pacific side, 22 miles from Cabo and 13 miles from shore. Using live bait as well as feather lures, Todd and Chris caught 9 Tuna, each weighing up to thirty five pounds. They hooked up a Blue Marlin but it got away. They hit a Sail but it wasn’t hungry and they also side casted a Striped Marlin without luck. Todd and Chris loved their Captain and Mate, saying that “they were very nice, talkative and overall, an excellent crew”.
Danny, Tom, Tom and Mike went out for the third time this week, this time on a 32’ partner boat. After catching lots of Dorado the past two days they went out looking for the bills but fought and unfortunately lost 2 Stripers as well as a Blue. They brought back 2 more Dorado which they will be taking home with them.
Clayton, Richard and Scott went out on a 31’ partner boat with Captain Francisco and Mate Oscar. They headed west to the Pacific and by Migri~no caught Tuna and Dorado. Clayton caught one of each as did Scott; Richard caught 2 Dorado and a Tuna. They caught the Dorado about a half a mile from the shore and the Tuna at about five miles from the shore. Using feather lures to catch all the fish, the Dorado came in at 15-25 pounds and the Tuna up to twenty pounds.
Sean, Robby and Parker from San Antonio, Texas went out on our 32’ RedBeam with Captain Marcial and Mate Fabian. Sean caught and released a hundred and thirty five pound Striped Marlin, Robby caught 2 Dorado and Parker caught a Dorado, all three weighing between twenty and thirty pounds. They fished the Pacific in an area called San Cristobal just fifteen miles out of Cabo and three miles from shore using feather lures.
Daren, Brady, Melvina and Joey went out for the second time this week, this time on our 28’ ReelRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. They fished San Jaime in the Pacific, fifteen miles from shore and caught a twenty pound Tuna as well as a fifteen pound Dorado. They’re going back out tomorrow; this group is serious about the fishing!
