Mako's Stole Our Tuna!!

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY REPORT, OCTOBER 23RD AND 24TH

Christine and new husband Daniel from Princeton, NJ went out on our 28’ ReelRum with Captain Omar.

David, Matt, Jennifer, Staci, David and Tom went out on Friday on our 32’ RedBeam with Captain Cesar and Mate Fabian. They fished the Lighthouse on the Pacific side and caught a twenty five pound Dorado a mile from shore.

Joe and Victor went out on Friday on our 28’ Tantrum with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan. They fished the Paciic side and caught 5 Tuna. Today they went out with friends on our 28’ ReelRum and caught 3 Dorado and unfortunately lost a Striped Malin on the line.

Grant, Eddie, Dennis, Jared and Eric went out on our 32’ RumRunnin on Friday with Captain Javier and Mate Marcial. They fished Posocota about twenty miles from the Marina and a mile from shore and caught 2 twenty five pound Dorado and released twelve additional Dorado.

Jerry and friends went out today on our 32’ RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Marcial. They fished the Pacific side and caught 10 Tuna. They had two others on the line but lost them to Mako sharks that politely left the Tuna heads on the hook.

Lonnie, Angela, Mike and Stephanie went out on our 28’ Tantrum today with Captain Juan. They caught 3 Dorado between fifteen and twenty pounds at Golden Gate on the Pacific side a mile from shore.

Holly, Marty, Julie, Chris, Brian and John from Texas fished on our 32’ RedBeam with captain Cesar and Mate Fabian today and caught 12 Dorado, 3 of which they released. John caught and released a hundred and eighty pound Striped Marlin using live bait. They fished Los Arcos about a mile from shore.

It’s sunny once again in Cabo at 79 degrees on land and 72-73 degrees Fahrenheit in the water. A bit windy on land (15 mph coming from SSE) and even windier on the water, a few of our new friends came back looking a little soaked. Almost made senator Steve miss the weather back home: the perfect cold drizzle of Washington D.C. Steve along with eight of his buddies were out on 33’ El Nuevo and 32’ RedBeam and scored 3 Dorado. Of course they had to come back to pick up some RedRum merchandise to show off their skills. Even for 8 guys 3 Dorado can be a bit much to finish for dinner and so they kindly made a donation to our crew. Thanks guys!

Picking a fight with a Mako shark and successfully reeling in 2 Marlin was Mike and his two daughters. Mike was mostly chaperoning for the day, helping his girls reel in the big ones. Omar and Americo took the family out on our 28’ ReelRum heading east to the sea of Cortez. The action started 33 miles out, a nice hour and a half to work on the suntan and gaze at the leaping whales still gracing our waters. At seven and twelve years old, there’s no doubt that Claire and Anna will grow up to be tough fisherwomen.

Some couples find romance in Cabo at a quiet beach while others like Tom and Caitlyn McCoy and Forest and Amy Glaser headed to the choppy waters of Baja. There’s nothing more romantic than reeling in your own dinner to these couples. Reaching Gordo banks at about 10am on our 32’ RumRunning, Javier and Manuel knew right where to catch the Dorado. And of course, the girls had to show their boys how it’s done.

Just to show that a little wind doesn’t scare our fleet!
