Happy St. Patty’s Day!

The direction changed from yesterday and the guys headed out to the Sea of Cortez instead of the Pacific. Air temperature is sitting at about 80 degrees and water temperature at about 71 degrees. A light breeze on the water kept the seas calm.

Coming from up north, Doug from Langley, B.C., Bill from Seattle and Patrick from Calgary headed out with Chivo today on RumRunnin. They reeled in 9 dorado and said there was much more to be caught, but were at their limit. They also dragged in one of those ugly squids. I swear the thing was looking at me when they brought it into the office to be packaged and frozen. Now I personally have never eaten this Humboldt squid, it looks to be tough and icky, but from what Chivo says, he likes it. So these guys are going to take home a fillet of it and I invite you to send me the recipe that you use so I can at least try to cook it up sometime and say I tried the thing. I’m a calamari eater, but man this thing looks down right hard and chewy and nothing like those delightfully fried things we order for appetizers. Hope to hear from you guys on that, nice job out there and look forward to seeing the pictures.

All smiles were Jonathan and his daughter Haley along with her best friend Jen, celebrating their sweet 16 birthdays in Cabo aboard the Mariner of the Seas Cruise. We met them at the tender this morning at 9:30 am and they headed out until about 2:30 before they had to get back on board their cruise ship. They too went to the Sea of Cortez where they reeled in 7 dorado, 3 Humboldt squid and some skip jack. The site seeing was great as well out on the water. Jonathan said they say a mother whale with her calf while out. Happy 16th birthdays ladies and we hope to see you back down in Cabo soon!

Patti, Phillip, Percy, Gordon, Sam and Dorie from Alabama headed out on RedBeam. They went to the Sea of Cortez as well and reeled in 3 dorado and 2 roosterfish. The seas were much calmer out on the Sea of Cortez waters then on the Pacific and ended up being a wise choice for the guys to head to the Sea of Cortez instead of the Pacific and get some of the edible fish.

Tim headed out on the panga with his son and his friend. They reeled in some mackerels and skip jacks and before too long, one of the kids got sick and they had to come in early, but were still able to reel in a few before turning the boat around.

You all better be wearing green today, and if not I hope someone pinched you.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day
