What a great month!

Heeeello Peeps!

Another month goes by and we are welcoming October with huge success. Today is the last day of September 2010 and fishing was excellent this whole month. I am still waiting for the boats to come back today and see what they caught but just so you have an idea we did a total of 10 blue Marlin, 74 Striped Marlin, 10 Sailfish, 21 Tuna (a bit slow I know), 400 Dorado, 3 Wahoo, 1 Roosterfish and 4 Mako Sharks... This was all thanks to you guys who made this number possible. Thank you so much!

Yesterday we had 5 boats out:

For a second day of fishing we had Steve and Marcella Ramsey fishing on RumRunnin again..you might remember their names from Sunday's fish report as they had reeled in 20 Dorados! well yesterday wasn't bad either. They reeled in 4 Dorado, one 120 Lbs Striped Marlin and one 250Lbs Blue Marlin! Excellent job!

Josh Watson and his crew from CCA joined us for their second and last fishing trip and after their full day of fishing aboard the 33' Cabo Chica, they managed to Catch and Release a 200 Lb Sailfish and 1 Striped Marlin. They also caught 9 Dorado. Well done you guys.

A total of 10 Dorado was caught by Laurie Hempstead and Michael Quinn. Laurie said it was a lot of fun. The biggest dorado they caught was 30 Lbs. They fished on Tantrum with Captain Ramon and Mate Jesus. Hopefully we will see them again real soon.

Another CCA member Brian Brumfield, who had fished with us a few months ago decided to go again on the 33' Nuevo. Him and his crew did great work out there with Captain Alex and mate Manuel. They managed to reel in Dorado, one Sailfish that was 130 Lbs and 1 Marlin which was between 140-150 Lbs. It was an excellent day for them and we are glad they enjoyed it. Brian gave his fish away to Charity and we really appreciate that. This fish will go to the Children's Foundation here in Cabo.

Last but not least Rod Tavares and Barry fished on ReelRum with Captain Jesus and Mate Edgar. These guys were supposed to be out there for 8 hours but by noon they were back in the office. Not because they were seasick but because they decided to call it a day once they had reeled in 1 Striped Marlin (C/R), 8 Dorado and 1 blue Marlin that was 10ft 250 Lbs. The latter was reeled in by Rod and it took him almost an hour to reel it in. He was excited about the trip and experience. They told me they had 2 Blue Marlin bite at the same time, but one of them got away...Sorry guys, I guess it'll be next time.

Thank you All for Reading.

Dorado bite still strong

Another beautiful late summer/early fall day here in Cabo San Lucas, water temps are in the mid-80's and weather is in the low 90's. Seas were smooth and fish were biting once again today! Bait has been tough to come by recently, but luckily we have had some Ballyhoo sent over from mainland Mexico, so while other companies are struggling to find bait each day, we have had a steady supply. The boys have been fishing the Pacific from the Lighthouse to Los Arcos and even up to Golden Gate.

Antonio and Dania Sandoval, joining us from Ukiah, California had never been fishing offshore before, but knew that being in Cabo, they had to give it a shot. Antonio and Dania spent the day with Omar and Americo and decided on a 1/2 day charter. Luckily, half a day was plenty of time to get some action as they had 5 Dorado by 11:30am. The Dorado we have seen caught the last few days have been on the bigger side, as was the case today with two of the Dorado reaching almost 50".

The Zischke party, who were to have fished on Rum Runnin', didn't make it this morning. Hope that everything is OK and they just had a few too many at Cabo Wabo the night before.

Brian Braumfield and Darlene Bonis fished today with their friends Bob and Denise Stine. Brian and Darlene fished with us last year and were back this year to try out the Stay and Play package. They gushed about how cool the accomodations are up at Portofino, so that is always nice to hear. Nick and I certainly had a "case of the Monday's" yesterday and things started off early. El Nuevo had problems with a transmission before their charter even got started but Brian is a veteran fisherman and we have to thank him for his understanding. We got the group out with Cabo Chica, and they ended up having a great day on the water. Time and time again, when people go with the flow, Karma ends up on their side and this crew was no different. They came back with plenty of Dorado and nothing but praise for our staff and how we handled the situation. Thanks again for your understanding guys, unfortunately, boat problems are the nature of the beast sometimes.

Cathing (up)

Sunday was a great day for RedRum anglers, calm sea's and beautiful weather made for a nice day on the water. Ridiculous amounts of fish biting also made for a nice day on the water. I think most hardcore anglers would trade fish for weather, up until a certain point, Sunday we didn't have to sacrifice either.

Steve Ramsey and his wife Marcella, from Scottsdale, Arizona had an awesome day with the Dorado. The guys on Rum Runnin' found something floating in the water and as is usually the case, that meant Dorado! Lots and lots of Dorado. Steve came back in the office at the end of the day and said "I lost count around 19 or 20." Steve and Marcella harvested only a few fish, releasing the rest, as they just wanted enough for dinner. We'll see the Ramsey's again on the 29th and we'll see if we can't get them hooked into a Billfish.

Kevin Messmer and his crew from Colorado Springs were out for their second day on the water today and they also got into the Dorado pretty good. After Dorado and Marlin on day 1, Kevin, his crew and the boys on El Nuevo RedRum caught 14 Dorado.

Finally, on Pescado III, we had Gustavo Bassino and his buddies all the way from Argentina. Gustavo and his buddies won the mixed bag award for the day with a catch and release Striped Marlin, 4 Dorado and 1 Wahoo. The guys had a blast on the boat and certainly enjoyed the great bite.

'...THE BEST FISHING TRIP I'VE EVER DONE"

Hey people,

Today was an excellent day, customers came back very excited about their fishing trip. Ralph Horton had fished with us yesterday and decided to give it a second try today his after coming back from his fishing trip on Nuevo he said this was " The best fishing trip I've ever done" Kelly, lovely wife, compared this trip to Cancun and emphasized that Ralph had picked the right company! He's sure to come back next year.

We will be seeing more excellent reviews over Trip Advisor from all these happy fishermen!

On with today's fishing report. We had 4 boats out 3 full day and 1 half day. The seas were 4 ft, winds blowing at 9 mph, water temp was 86F and the weather temp was 92F. Perfect day for fishing!

On Tantrum we had Rusty and Cody Willey fishing for a full day with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan. This father-son trip had been planned for quite a while and they booked a few months in advanced. Their fishing took place 27 miles out by the Jaime Bank, their catch consisted of one 110Lbs Striped Marlin, six 10-15 Lbs Tunas and fifteen 45Lbs Dorados!! Wow these duo sure put in a lot of effort to catch all that! They decided not to keep any fish and it was all caught and released. Thank you guys so much for fishing with us.

Ralph Horton decided to go solo today on our 33' Nuevo with Captain Jesus and Mate Manuel. He had fished yesterdat on RumRunnin and decided to go for a second trip today. Ralph is a serious professional fisherman and he knew what he was after. He had an awesome day fishing with these guys and promised to come back next year for more action.
He caught a total of 2 Striped Marlin, 5 Dorado and lost 2 Blue Marlin one of them was over 300Lbs! while trying to reel them in, they broke the rod!!!!!!! Imagine the size and the speed! Thank you so much Ralph and Kelly for these days you decided to fish with us, we can't thank you enough for everything. Hope to see you next year.

on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus we had Pete Kramer and his crew who also fished for a full day. Their fishing spots were the Jaime Bank and the Migrino Bank. These guys fished for a few hours before reeling in thier first Dorado. Their final number is 6 Dorado between 15-25 Lbs.

And last but not least Ladonna Lewis, Doug Lewis, Jason, David and Greg went out fishing for half a day on our 31' RedRum...after their trip was over these folks had a total of 9 Dorado between 30-35 Lbs and 2 Bonitas...not the time of year for Bonitas but they caught them anyways! This cheerful group came back to the office to talk about their awesome fishing trip and how much they enjoyed it. The best part while they were in the office telling me their story was the fact that they were making fun of one of their guys for having a pink camera....(very manly LOL) and when I saw them all cheer with a bottle of Pacifico to finish off their day. So glad they decided to fish with us and hopefully we will see them again in the near future.

Thanks for reading and have a fun and safe weekend.

The only thing Georgette did to cabo was make fish bite!

Morning Guys,

There hasn't been much to report over the past days, yesterday was a slow day becuase of the thunderstorm that hit Cabo, nothing bad just a rain through out most of the day, no damage or anything. Today we have one boat out, newly wed Steve Springer and wife Kim Newman are out fishing on RumRunnin with captain Javier and Mate Jesus. The couple decided to go fishing with Chris Hopper and Charles Boatwright for a half day. Their final catch for the day was 12 Dorado and 1 Striped Marlin (C/R). They took some fish for lunch at the Hacienda Cantina and will be coming back this afternoon to pick up the rest. Hope they enjoy their meal.

We're expecting some showers for the rest of the week but then again, sometimes the weather forecast seems to make mistakes. Anyhow, we will let you know if need be.

Here are some pictures that Laurie Turney sent, she fished on Saturday aboard 31' RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. This trip was a birthday gift to Hubby Brant who turned ?????...I am not sure if I should say the age or not...I probably won't, and let Laurie post it as a comment if she thinks proper. I do know the age because Laurie whispered it while being escorted to the boat this nice couple was going to be on that day. Their fishing trip ended with 4 Dorados and 3 Marlin (All billfish were caught and released)

Thanks Laurie for the pics and we hope to see you again "reel" soon.

Thanks!

A Cloudy Monday...

It's a cloudy some what sprinkly day in Los Cabos today. Cabo San Lucas hasn't seen much sunshine today but it makes for a really nice break from the heat! It even sprinkled a bit this morning when I had an errand to run out in San Jose del Cabo.

The wonderful group staying in Portofino this week from Texas went out on their second day with Alex and Jesus on El Nuevo. To get the bite they had to go out pretty far up near Jamie Bank and even beyond. This group wanted Marlin & Tuna more than anything, which the guys found, but couldn't make them eat. The Tuna were out there boiling at Jamie Bank but couldn't get them to bite with numerous attempts using live bait, lures y nada. However they did have much success with 6 15-20 pound Dorado near the shore of Los Arcos that they're excited to bring back to Tejas with them!

RumRunnin also took off today with our good friends Joe & Karen Assenza along with their friends who are first timers to Cabo. Their situation was much the same, a long stretch before they got their first bite after 12 o'clock. Joe, who fishes with us quite often said, "Wow that was the longest I've had to wait to get a bite!" It was worth the wait. Karen reeled in a nice size Mako Shark that took off right at the side of the boat. And they were able to reel in 4 Dorado which we will be enjoying with them at dinner!

Great day on the water everyone!

Thanks for reading.

Hey Guys, Mexico finally ended celebrating it's 200th independence anniversary and everything is back to normal now! 2 days of a lot of partying going on here in Cabo! and fish picked up very good last couple of days.

We had CCA member Kyle Strander fishing on Thursday and Friday for full day trips and did really well these past two days.

On Thursday Kyle caught and released 2 striped Marlin and 10 Dorado, while today he only did 1 striped Marlin.

Steve Springer, groom to be, fished with a big group today on 2 boats. These guys went on Tantrum and RumRunnin with Captains Javier and Ramon and Mates Juan and Jesus. Both teams did an awesome job reeling in dorados and releasing Marlins. They did a total of 18 Dorado and 2 Marlin which were 7ft7" and 8ft 4" AWESOME. Steve will be getting married tomorrow and is considering fishing again next week for a couple of days! COngrats to Steve and his wife to be.

on Pescado III we had Steve Taylor and his crew fishing for a half day and coming back with 6 Dorado. These nice fellas had a blast and we hope to have them fish with us real soon. Thanks Steve and Mates!

RedRum Owner Ryan Donovan went out on RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Omar and after a full day of fishing by the Arches they came back with a total of 11 Dorado and 1 Mako! Cool Ryan!

A group of girls decided to fish yesterday on RumRunnin...Tori Hayes fished with her girlfriends Dara, Rachel, Leslie, Emily and Jennifer...This team did an excellent job reeling in 6 dorados and catching and releasing 2 Striped Marlin that weighed 120 Lbs each. Hopefully they will send along their pics soon.

Chris Beyer fished on RedBeam with Captain Cesar yesterday and he did a total of 12 Dorado. He had fished with us before and had a superb time along with his wife...He decided to give away his fish for charity. Thanks Chris we appreciate the gesture. We'll make sure that fish goes to the right people who need it.

Ridiculous action on the water today!

Today was absolutely ridiculous. It makes you wonder how amazing the ocean can be. How can there be days that we troll around all day for naught, and other days like today where we can't keep the fish off the lures.

Ashley Mahler and Claudia Szceiko from San Jose, California were in today to join Omar and Americo on RedRum. Ashley's boyfriend had fished with us before and she was eager to get out on the water while down in Cabo for a girl's trip. Salud to that, we need more ladies getting out on the water together! That being said, the women did fantastic out there, catching a total of 9 Dorado and they were back by Noon.

Randy and Nancy Semas, along with their two children Angela and Jordan joined Javier and Jesus on Rum Runnin today. With Americo moving over to fish with Omar on the new 31' RedRum we put in the water, Jesus has been teaming up with Javier....and they have been hot! Today was no exception, 9 Dorado, 5 Tuna and 2 Sailfish! Are you kidding me?

We had 2 anglers whom I will not name that had reservations to fish on ReelRum today that did not show up to go fishing. This happens from time to time, and for various reasons. But, what a day to miss.

Frank Wylie, Michael Adams and Frank's wife Thanom were out for day 4 of 5 today with Ramon and Juan again. They fished outside of Chilleno Bay 6 to 7 miles and had 9 Dorado, a Sailfish and a Marlin. Unbelievable.

Finally, our CCA, Stay and Play Customers Rob Waumke, Clark Carnes, and William Daunch had a banner day out with Alex and Manuel on El Nuevo RedRum. 18 fish! 2 Blue Sharks, 2 Striped Marlin, 2 Sailfish, and 12 Dorado on the day.

***If you are reading this report and not immeadiately looking at flights to get down here please go see your physician and have your vitals checked. Fishing is absolutely ridiculous.

It's been the Ansite report the last two days....

After battling a monster Striped Marlin for more than 4 hours on Saturday, James Ansite had the hot hand again today. We figured we would stay away from the Marlin, but that didn't keep Jesus and Javier from getting all over the Tuna and Dorado. James finished up with 5 nice Yellowfin, one over 40lbs, and 2 Dorado as well.

The Garfield Brothers, Bob and Josh, from Ardmore, PA joined Ramon and Juan today for a day aboard TantRum. 2 Dorado, a 35 lb fish and a smaller 15lb fish were the first fish to hit the deck. Next up was the real battle, a nice catch and release Blue Marlin of about 220-230lbs.

Mark, Dan and Terry, your Tripadvisor Black and Green 2010 discovery team were out for their second day on the water today. For those that do not know, RedRum Sportfishing is the main sponsor of the Tripadvisor.com fishing tournament that they host in November. It is an event organized by the members of tripadvisor.com's Cabo San Lucas forum, and in large part Mark, Dan and Terry. They had 3 Dorado, 1 nice Yellowfin and Terry was able to catch his Striped Marlin.

Peter and Carrie Walsh, our friends from here in Cabo, had a pretty solid birthday weekend planned. After spending Saturday chilling at Chilleno Bay, Sunday was a fishing day for the family. Half a day was more than enough for Ian, and Hannah to bring in a nice catch and release Striped Marlin and a 30 pound Mahi Mahi. Happy Birthday and thanks for being such great friends guys!

4 Dorado on RedRum

So Mark Stange and John came back for their fishing trip and came back with 4 Dorado with an average weight of 20- 23 Lbs. They spotted a lot of tuna out there but tuna has not been biting right now. I really don't know why Tuna has been slow through out this whole month?

Anyhow, Mark will be fishing again on RedRum tomorrow and John might go out fishing with him again.

They had an awesome time out there.

Lets see how the do tomorrow.

Thanks
Nick

First pictures of RedRum's 31' Bertram " RedRum"

After a long wait guys, here are some pictures of this morning's charter on our refurbished 31' RedRum.

This is a first picture of the 31' Bertram RedRum leaving the Marina to go out on a fishing trip with Mark Stange and his crew along with John Donovan.

James Ansite who fished on RumRunnin today with Captain Javier just came in and caught his all time favorite a 10 Ft 240 Lbs Striped Marlin! It took James 4 hours to reel in the fish...James came down on his own and after being a bit late to the office this morning....(someone forgot to change their watch haha!) he had an awesome day, he walked in the office and seemed like a very nice guy, after the fishing trip was over he came back to the office and apologized for being grumpy in the morning...I was like "That was supposed to be grumpy?? It literally made me laugh, I did not even sense him being in a bad more or grumpy at all, I guess each of us expresses their anger in different ways.

Anyway, James will be fishing again tomorrow morning on RumRunnin one more time. Thise cool guy will surely be in pain after reeling in this huge billfish but I am sure he will still manage to empty out the Baja Ocean!

See you tomorrow James.

John's awesome catch on the 31' RedRum. His Marlin was 180 Lbs and was caught just 15 min after leaving the Marina. His final score also includes 5 Dorado.

Happy Birthday to John Donovan and the RedRum boat!

After 6 years of being taken out of the water, RedRum Sportfishing has finished rebuilding from top to bottom the 31' Bertram Named RedRum. In this picture you see John and Ryan breaking the bottle and blessing the boat as it went out today on it's first fishing trip after such a long time.

Today we are celebrating this event and also John's 62nd Birthday. What a great birthday gift! It was a lot of hard work, day and night but in the end it was well worth it. Lets hope these guys catch some big fish today, right!

RedRum = AWESOMENDOUS!!!

Good Morning RedRumers,

Yesterday's catch was awesome, we did a total of 1 Blue Marlin, 4 Striped Marlin, 18 Dorado and 1 Wahoo. Sea temperature was 80 F and we were told that we would have some thunderstorm in the afternoon but we didn't which is great!

We had 6 boats out yesterday, Our 31' RedRum is still not going into the water, but we expect to have it in by Thursday! We'll see who's the lucky customer who gets to run it for the very first time as a charter!!! Everyone here in the office is working like crazy to get everything set and ready for that big inaguaration day...It will be unforgettable.

On Tantrum we had Michael Adams and Frank fishing with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan for a full day. This was their second trip out of 7 days of fishing and they did really good. Their final score for the day was 1 Blue Marlin which weighed 280 Lbs and 2 Striped Marlin that weighed 120 and 130 Lbs respectively. Great work guys, we'll keep you updated with their fishing results.

Rex McBride, Kevin Brown and Gordon Day fished along with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel on our 33' Bertram Nuevo. They were scheduled to fish on the 31' but like I said before, we still don't have it ready 100%. These guys had an awesome time with the crew and decided to fish on this boat again on Wednesday. They caught a total of 10 Dorado and 1 Wahoo. The Dorados were around 10-15 Lbs. Not bad my friends.

Last minute reservation was made by former customer Darron Clay who had fished with us in June. He called me up in the morning to see if we had any availability and of course we started getting everytihng ready for his trip. Darron showed up around 8 AM and fished for half a day. His final catch was 2 Dorado and had spotted a Marlin but in his own words "They weren't hungry" thanks Darron, hope to see you soon again.

From Atlanta, GA we had Aaron Tahan and Chad Crist who fished on ReelRum with Captain Jesus and Mate Edgar. After a full day of fishing, these guys ended up with 4 nice 10-15 Lbs Dorados and two 5ft Striped Marlin which were caught and released. Aaron and Chad decided to take the fish back to get it cooked up for later that day. Groovy guys! Glad you enjoyed your trip.

And last but not least Aaron Fowler (the guy from the pictures!) fished on his last day on a Panga along with Gregg. Their 3 days of fishing were superb and filled with fish! Yesterday they wanted to go after some Rooster fish and their wish was our command, they reeled in a 45 Lb Rooster and 2 Dorado average size. Aaron promised sending in more pictures so I hope to receive them soon and post them on our fish report.

Thanks for reading.
Nick

More pics!

Great Stuff going on!

This day has been superb! we have lots of things going on! We put in the refurbished top to bottom 31' Bertram RedRum on the water today to finish up some small details, we will test this boat tomorrow and it will be ready for it's first charter on Wednesday!

Fishing could not get better, we had 6 boats out today and caught a total of 1 Blue Marlin, 17 Striped Marlin, 2 Sailfish, 45 Dorado, 1 Wahoo and 1 Skipjack.

Congrats to Greer Ingersell and Jennifer Jennings who reeled in the biggest fish today which was the 220 Lb Blue Marlin. These folks came back to the office very excited, with cheers and sharing their fishing story! they didn't only catch the blue marlin, they also reeled in 13 Dorado and had a sailfish as well. They worked really hard. Jennifer was so happy and we "wooed" together for their successful fishing day. They showed pictures of their awesome trip and Greer was telling me that the Blue Marlin had snapped the line but was reeled in with their bare hands! now that is AN AWESOME JOB! they did not let it get away. So glad they decided to take this fishing trip. They promised to send in their pics so I will post them as soon as they come in.

CCA member Adam Guillory and his crew is another successful case since yesterday. On their first fishing trip with RedRum these guys caught and released the biggest Blue Marlin of this year a 350 pounder! and they also caught a 150 Lbs Yellowfin. They came back to the office around 5:30 because they were out their fighting their fish. nice job guys. Today Adam and his mates, once again, fished the Baja Ocean and their total number of fish caught today was 180 Lb Striped Marlin a 100 Lb Sailfish and 6 Dorado being an average of 15-20 Lbs. Nice folks are staying at the Portofino Condos and are having the time of their life! Hope you enjoyed your stay guys and I hope to see you soon. Before they took off they got their RedRum Gear to take back home.

On Marlin Too we had our loyal customer Chris Rowe and his friends fish with Captain Pancho and mate Oscar. They came back a bit earlier than expected but still managed to catch and release a 180 Lb Stripped Marlin and 1 Dorado. They fished 7 miles off the lighthouse bank

From La Honda California we had Trevor and Lauren Franco who fished 2 days with RedRum. On September 2nd they caught and released a 120 Lbs Striped Marlin and 2 Dorado, after their successful fishing trip, they came back to the office extremely excited about their 8 hour trip on Tantrum and decided to go out for a second day on the same boat. Today their final score was 12 Dorado which were between 20- 30 Lbs and 1 Skipjack.

On Partner Boat Mucho Loco's 34' we had Bryan Foster and his crew who fished for a full day by the Gordo Bank. These guys came back to the office with a lot of fish!!! they reeled in 22 Dorado about 20-30 Lbs and 1 Wahoo!!! they practically filled up our freezers back there! Nice job guys!

Last but not least we had Aaron Fowler, Barry and Greg who fished on RumRunnin' with Captain Javier on their first day of fishing. These guys came back showed pictures and let me copy some to post on this fish report. They managed to reeled in 4 Dorado and 2 striped Marlin the first one weighing 125 Lbs and the second one weighed 90 Lbs! awesome job guys. We will see you tomorrow for round two!

The first Striped and Blue Marlin of September

The first day of the month and we have excellent updates on today's fishing trips.
Aboard RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus we had Tim and Belinda Irvin from Dallas, Tx who showed up at 6 AM ready to get on that boat and have the time of their lives. Together they reeled in a 20 Lb Dorado (which they will be taking back home on Saturday) and they also caught and released a nice 250 Lbs Blue Marlin.

The first Blue Marlin for the month of September...let's try to C/R Blue Marlins for the rest of the year huh?
These awesome folks decided to head back to our office little early. The sea behaved today, it was nice and smoothe.

We have an awesome day, temperature is 97F and the winds are so calm...PERFECTION!

Last but not least we had Debra McCory and Brett Olsen aboard our 28' Tantrum along with Captain Ramon and Mates Juan and Jesus who together caught an 8ft 9' Stripper! That was big, I saw that fish with my own eyes and I can say it was a trophy fish!
Congrats to these two for working together and making their dream catch come true! We told you RedRum was the right option!!! LOL

Fishing took place by the Gordo Bank, Light House, La Herradura and other banks along the Sea of Cortez side.

Thanks for reading.
