Ah... La Luna!

RedRum’s fleet had 4 boats going out on the water today all heading out to the Sea of Cortez. They headed towards Punta Gordo and on past Gordo banks. The air temperature today was around 83 degrees Fahrenheit with a slight wind and endless sunny skies. Sea of Cortez water sat at around 72-73 degrees Fahrenheit. . With the full moon on the brink, some may blame that on the lack of action on the water today. As some of our crews may say “Ah, la luna.” Meaning, oh the moon.

First back was Rick Copeland and his wife who are visiting us from Northern California. They booked the Beam and headed out with Marshall. They’ve been visiting the Baja for many years and knows what can happen, good or lame on the water. Although they came back all smiles it wasn’t because of any fish they reeled in, it was just a beautiful day in Cabo and they enjoyed their fishless jaunt to the Sea of Cortez. Ah… La Luna.

Willis Jolly and his family headed out on El Nuevo with Alex. They’re staying up the coast a ways at Esperanza, which means Hope. Unfortunately neither luck nor hope was on their side, they came back empty handed as well on their trek to the Sea of Cortez.

Ryan’s good buddy, Little J as we call him sent his buddy Clay our way. He and his crew came in on the Royal Caribbean cruise line in hopes of catching some fish for the half day trip stop in Cabo. And again, I regret to inform you all that, the moon interfered with their day as well. Sorry Clay, I wish we could make them bite for you!

And last but not least were Jeff and James from Hardisty, Alberta. While the ladies in their lives ran over to Luxury Avenue and Liverpool with Coach bags in tow, these guys came back with the catches of the day! They reeled in a nice Striped Marlin at an estimated 180 lbs., catch and release of course and nice juvenile Mako Shark. Well done guys, the moon’s got nothing on you.
