244 lb Yellowfin mount from Global Fish Mounts

As many of you know, we were lucky enough to haul in the biggest Yellowfin Tuna last year in the Western Outdoor News Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot. Our 244lb Yellowfin was the 3rd biggest in tournament history and secured our place in Cabo's storied tournament history.

Global Fish Mounts was nice enough to donate a mount of our historic catch and it arrived yesterday. Of course, we had to place it front and center, right above the desk here in the office. Beautiful artistry, and we can't be happier with the way it turned out.

Get Well Diana....

Team RedRum would like to send a special "Get Well Soon" to our wonderful office manager Diana. Diana, unfortunately, was cut off by another surfer as they jockeyed for position on a big wave at Cabo Surf this past weekend and took a hard fall. After colliding head first with her board, Diana was left with a concussion and a fractured jaw.

Diana is a great girl and always has an upbeat attitude so it was no surprise that she was joking around even in her initial text's to us about the accident. "I guess she wanted to be the ONLY girl on the water!" Diana explained as she described the ordeal. Unable to talk, coherently at least, Diana will be on the sidelines for a few weeks. She will be missed around the office and we wish her a speedy recovery.

So, from Team RedRum and our extended family all over the world, get well soon Diana!

Wednesday's report...

Great fishing again today off the waters of Cabo San Lucas. Tropical Storm Andres is still several hundred miles south and has fizzled to a Tropical Depression. This will put anglers at ease of the next few days, as we already have felt the weather warm up and the winds die down.

First back today was our new friend Sean Orman. Sean had originally booked with us to go out yesterday, but after eating something that his stomach didn't agree with he had to re-book for today. Unfortunately, I don't think fishing was supposed to be in the cards this trip. We got Sean out on the water and the boys saw a ton of fish, just couldn't get any to bite. As the saying goes, "that's fishing."

Mark and Suzette Rohleder were back next on ReelRum. They spent the day with Omar and Americo and their two kids, Jared and Isabella. The Rohleder's are quite possibly the biggest RedSox fans in the world, and I really enjoyed talking to them about the beating the Sox have been putting on the Yankees this year. (Sharky, George, and Nick, that was for you!) Jared was the man of the day bringing in a nice big Striped Marlin, showing off the guns that will make him famous on the ball field someday. While they weren't fortunate enough to have any Dorado take bait or lures, the Broussard crew from Louisiana was nice enough to donate a few filets for Rohleder's to take to dinner.

Speaking of the gals from Louisiana, they had another great day on the water. The more experienced ladies from the group, Kim, Susie, and Carolyn were the only ones brave enough to head back out on the water today and it paid off. Carolyn brought in a very nice 40lb class Dorado, Kim caught a very nice Jack Crevalle in the 30lb class and Susie brought in an estimated 160lb, 103" Marlin. Both Susie and Kim mounted their Marlin from the past few days and both with be proudly dispayed at Carolyn's restaurant, the Blue Duck Cafe in Lake Charles Louisiana!

Alright, the Huffman group killed it again today! I am convinced these guys sold their souls to the fish devil. They claim their success is due to the good karma brought by having a few beers every day on the boat, who knows. Bottom line, these guys are having great days out on the water with Javier on Rum Runnin. While they lost a shark and a Striped Marlin today, they brought in 4 nice Dorado, 1 Yellowfin Tuna, and 1 catch and release Striped Marlin. Can't imagine what these guys are going to do tomorrow. I would love to be on the boat tomorrow just to see what the real secret is behind their success.

Ryan and Renee Crawford from Chicago stopped by yesterday and wanted to get out on the water while they were here. We hooked them up with Tata on our partner boat Anzuelo and they had a great day. 3 big Dorado and 1 catch and release Marlin. Add to that the perfect weather on the water today and it was a total success.

John Korecki, along with his two sons Chris and Zach, as well as his buddy James Buckley fished with us today on El Nuevo with Alex and Ramon. 4 guys, 4 fish. Can't beat that. They caught a nice variety of Dorado with fish in the 30, 40, and 50lb classes and a real nice Striped Marlin. The guys will be enjoying their catch tonight at Misiones de Kino while they brag to their wives about what amazing fishermen they all are. Good Stuff!

Finally, we had Ted Soetaert who is down visiting Cabo from Spring, Texas. Ted was fishing by himself today and wanted to give Panga fishing a try. We set him up with Carlos, and they had a great day together. Carlos found some big big Roosterfish hanging at an undisclosed location (gotta keep some secrets to ourselves,) and Ted ended up bringing in about 6 Roosters, losing a few more.

Killer day in Cabo!
