The ocean can't be serious...

What a day of sportfishing today for RedRum anglers. The ocean was literally boiling with fish today. Having the wonderful opportunity to see our boats fish these waters day in and day out, I know that days like today only happen a handful of times per year. Marlin, Tuna, and Dorado flags hanging from RedRum boats are literally blinding my view of the Marina.

Captains Omar, Marshall, Javier, and Alex talked this morning and they all decided to head out and cover the same are they found the fish yesterday, with each taking a slightly different heading. Javier was the first to spot the fish and the others were quickly called on the radio.

Javier had a half day charter today with the Father/Son/Son trio of Todd, Andy and Chad Hebert from Louisiana. Being that they had a half day charter, Rum Runnin cruised back in around noon with 5 Dorado flags, 3 Yellowfin Flags and a whopper of a catch and release Marlin. They said they found the school and then kept circling it, picking off strikes from different fish with every pass. On the way back in, Manuel spotted a huge Striped Marlin and it was quickly offered live bait, which it took. This big female must have just eaten a big meal as apparently she came to the boat without much fight for her size. When they measured the fish on the back of the boat it taped out at a ridiculous 11ft 10.5 inches. Fabulous catch, and a fabulous day on the water.

Justo, Zach and Chris Morales, out for their final day of fishing, after not catching much for two days, had the day they dreamed of before coming down. Marshall, on the RedBeam was the second boat to the action and these guys were back right before 1pm with 3 nice sized Dorado's and 6 Yellowfin Tuna. The guys couldn't be happier that I talked them into one last day on the water, and I am super happy it worked out. Zach and Chris are working up their appetites even more right now at Wild Canyon Zip Lines in preparation for "the feast," tonight at Missiones de Kino. Dorado Ceviche, Tuna Sashimi, and an array of cooked fish. Enjoy guys, you worked hard for it.

Derek and Shelbi Cooper along with friends Josh and Amy Bingham, had the ride on ReelRum today. Omar and Americo were their guides on one what they said was one of the best days of fishing they had ever had. They had too many Yellowfin bites to count, but recalled constantly getting double and triple hook-ups. At the end of the day they had caught and released a Marlin, kept 4 of the Yellowfin they caught (thanks for releasing some,) and also brought in 2 Dorado.

Finally we had Greg Barron's Play and Stay group fishing on El Nuevo RedRum. Greg fished with his wife Mary and his daughter Courtney, and his friends Michael and Vicki Reichle and Nancy Pelton. Captain Alex was last to the return to the Marina and he showed his clients a phenominal day as well. Courtney also couldn't believe the Yellowfin out there and how they were constantly doubled and tripled up. The finished the day with 10 Yellowfin and 4 nice Dorado, 2 of which went over 50lbs.

What a phenominal day on the Sea of Cortez, beautiful seas, and a light breeze to cool down the anglers as they fought fish after fish. Really wish I could have been out there myself to experience the bite, but seeing the smiling faces and shocked reactions of our anglers was a great consolation prize.
