Well, we tried.....

That was the sentiment this afternoon when talking to the clients that got back from the Golden Gate. I talked with Rich and Sandy Pratt, as well as Steve and Karen Ghormley this morning. We talked about the Marlin bite and how it had died down a bit the last few days but they really wanted to give it a shot and we were more than willing to make the trek up the Pacific. I had a similar conversation with Bob and Kathy Cripe and they too understood it could be slow on the Pacific but they wanted a shot at a Marlin.

Alex and Ramon took the Pratt and Ghormley crew, while Americo and his father Juan Carlos (who was filling in for an ill Omar) took the Cripe's. Both crews worked their butts off trying to get their clients Marlin, but the fish just wouldn't take the bait. Americo came back and told us he tried pitching live bait, slow trolling live bait, bottom fishing live bait, and also trolling lures. They said they saw tons of fish, they just weren't hungry. Definitely a bummer when folks come back without fish, but we take pride in knowing that our crews did everything they could.

Craig Bryan and Dan Oneal were back on the water today and they had a good day on the Sea of Cortez. They were constantly getting bite by SkipJack Tuna and landed a couple Dorado as well, one very nice one that went 40 lbs or so.

Finally, we had the Martin party on Rum Runnin. They showed up about 10 hours late, just coming into the office about a half hour ago. They mixed up their dates and thought that they were fishing tomorrow. Stranger things have been known to happen in Cabo, luckily we had Rum Runnin available on Saturday and they will head out then.

Water Temps on the Sea of Cortez were around 72/73 and Temps on the Pacific were around 69/70. Bait was GreenBack Mackeral and Caballito, even some SkipJack belly strips were used.
