Happy New Year + Fish Report for December 29th and 30th.

Happy New Years Eve!
I can't believe this is the last fish report for 2010. We have had a great year and will truely miss it but we look forward and are waiting to receive 2011 with arms wide open. We've lost some people, we've gained new, we're execting new arrivals, 2010 will never be forgotten, especially not by me since during this year I started working with the best Sportfishing Company ever!

I personally want to thank John, Ryan and Brooke for giving me the opportunity to become part of this team. Farewell 2010, Gracias por todo!

We've been delaying fish reports over the last couple of days, this last week of December really picked up and we've been booked completely having more than 9 boats go out each day which means tons of people =0) therefore, not so much time to write something up.

I will write a brief recap of what each boat did.
Thanks for Reading and Have a Happy NEW YEAR! GOD BLESS.

Massive Sierra's all over the place and few big schools of Yellowfin!

James and Andrew Luers, longtime friends of Brooke's from Nebraska shared Nuevo with Jesus 3 and Alonzo today as Captain Alex had the day off. With 6 guys on board they started inshore to hammer some of the big Sierra and then headed offshore looking for a Marlin. Not finding any Stripers that were willing to bite, they headed back inshore. The guys finished the day with almost 30 Sierra, some as big as 4' and 20 lbs.

Ron McCullum was back for another day on ReelRum with Jesus and Edgar and he was in search of Yellowfin. After trolling through 3 different schools of Porpoise and not finding any Yellowfin that were willing to bite, Ron told the boys to head for home.

Danny Smith and his family fished with Omar and Americo today aboard RedRum and they had a great day. After hammering close to 10 Sierra inshore they went a few miles offshore to the Lighthouse Bank and got a Striped Marlin for a photo.

Finally, Bum-Suk Kim, fishing by himself and on the hunt for Tuna fished with our partner boat Cabo Chica and Captain Tata today. They found the same 3 schools of Porpoise as TantRum but took a chance and went looking for one more. That was the right call as Mr. Kim was able to hook into 12 Yellowfin, and a Dorado. They even found a few Marlin, but none were hungry. They fished about 20 miles straight out from the Cabo Marina.

Post Christmas fishing... Presents in store?

Stephen Lane and his crew are down for a week and getting two or three charters in with us. Stephan and his wife took out RedRum with Omar and Americo while the rest of the crew fished with TantRum and Captain Ramon. Ramon was able to find a hungry Marlin, but Stephen and Omar pitched bait to 9 different Marlin who had no interest in taking the bait. Stephen was stoked on how hard the boys worked throughout the day and that is always the best compliment we can receive.

Jan Lundberg and his buddies had their first of two days on the water with us aboard, ReelRum. Captain Jesus was back for his first charter in nearly a month after a nasty accident and he knocked the skunk off the boat quickly with two nice catch and release Marlin.

Marc Burtnicker fished by himself today and had a great day with Captain Salvador. After catching a half dozen Bonita inshore, they headed offshore and were able to entice a nice Striped Marlin and were able to catch and release it.

On El Nuevo today we had the Ruhman family from Houston and they were after Marlin. No Yellowfin, No Dorado, No inshore species, they wanted Marlin. Captain Alex and his mate Jesus 3 who is filling in for Manuel who is on vacation had plenty of opportunities. 3 different Striped Marlin were hooked, they just couldn't get one to the boat. Snapped leaders, spit hooks, etc. Chris Ruhman did his best, as did the crew, we just couldn't get one of those pesky Marlin to the boat for a photo.

Inshore fishing has been non-stop for Sierra and Roosters, even a few Yellowtail starting to show up. Offshore we have been running 10-20 miles to get to the Yellowfin, Marlin have been everywhere just very finicky.

Catching up after Christmas

Sorry to all the faithful readers that haven't seen a post in a few days. Things are great in Cabo but with Nick visiting his family in Mexico City and Brooke and I's family visiting, the fish report gets a little behind.

I won't go through each charter, so if you were dying to see your name or catch reported here, let us know and we can do so. (Or maybe your friends don't believe you really did as well as you did and need proof!)

Fishing has been interesting to say the least. Mainly Marlin and Yellowfin recently but like I said interesting.

Omar was out on the 23rd and found 40-50 Marlin throughout the day up near the Los Arcos area, but none that wanted to eat, we were throwing Caballito and dragging everything we had but no bites. On the 24th Omar fished with my sister Jen, Step-father Mark, and his sister Bridgette and her husband Suds. They went back to the same spot and found huge bait balls full of tasty Green-Back Mackeral but the Marlin had disappeared. The full-moon and eclipse were playing tricks on the fish.

The boats that had success got out past some of the green water, 15-20 miles and got into the Yellowfin Tuna. We had 3 or 4 different schools that we found, and once we found the fish, catching 10-20 Yellowfin was automatic.

We'll keep you up to date from here on out... With 10 boats going out tomorrow we should have a nice report for you all!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful friends.

"There's plenty of fish in the sea"

Fishing today took place 15 miles out and Tuna was biting great.
We had a total of 5 boats out.

On Cabo Chica we had Howard Joe and his family fishing for a full day with Captain Lupe and mate Fabian. Howard Jr, reeled in a 102" Striped Marlin. It took him 30 mins to get this done and he did it all by himself. Awesome job Howard. Today he came in the office wearing the RedRum Gear and just advertising out company!! that's the spirit! Hope to see this group again next year.

Timothy Angell and his girls fished on ReelRum with Captain Edgar and Mate Omar. They had a full day of fishing and reeled in a Striped Marlin that was around 120 Lbs. The fish was released.

Austen Metz fished on Juanita II for a half day and his catch consisted of several Sierras. Had a good day out there! maybe next time he will do a full day and go after the big ones!

Matthew Mundy and his group of 6 fished on Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Javier, this group had a great day out in the water coming back with 6 yellowfin tuna and 1 dorado, I'm not sure if they caught and released everything or they kept it and took it to a restaurant as they did not come back to the office and brag about their fishing trip. Anyhow, crew told us they were awesome and had fun out in the water.

Duane Albrecht fished on RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo and had an awesome day out in the water, their final catch was 3 striped marlin ranging between 100-140 Lbs! Not bad at all, especially for this time of year! Nice job.

Gloria Baca and David fished on their second trip and ended up with a 58" Dorado. Gloria has been very lucky with big fish. Hopefully today, their last day, they will gather some bigger fish to accompany their success!

Tunas are closer 11 miles!

Fish biting was closer yesterday December 20th.
Tuna's were located 11 miles out, way closer than a week ago where we had to go out 37 miles to catch them. This was a good day for all of our boats going out. We did a total of 14 Yellowfin and 2 Striped Marlin

The average weight for the Tuna was between 15-25 Lbs and the Marlin were 140-160 Lbs

On ReelRum we had Ken Paulsen sharing a boat with John Baer who fished for a full day with Captain Edgar and Mate Omar. Their day was a bit slow but they enjoyed it. John caught 1 Tuna between 8-10 Lbs and in the end shared some of it with Ken. Awesome team work and a great man.

Mike Ethridge and Debashis fished on RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. When this duo walked into the office yesterday morning the first thing I saw in their hands were 2 bananas! At first I thought it was a joke, until I told them the Banana Myth and Boats. They were not familiar but ate those suckers in a sec before getting on the boat. In the end they caught a total of 5 Tunas being between 15-25 Lbs. At least they now know not to bring a banana on the boat!!!

Gloria and David are fishing with us for 3 days on Tantrum with Captin Ramon and Mate Juan. Their first day of fishing consisted of a Striped Marlin which was 160 Lbs. Hopefully today they will bring in some edible fish. I know they will be going to the Misiones de Kino restaurant to get some fished cooked up, afterall, Misiones does a great job and the service they provide is TOP NOTCH!

and last but not least, Randy Wagner and his crew wen't out on Cabo Chica for their first day of fishing. This group is enjoying a nice play and stay package which consists of fishing and lodging in one of RedRum's nice lookin condo. They reeled in a Marlin about 140 Lbs and was 99 inches long. They also caught 8 Tuna being between 15-25 Lbs. The Marlin was released. Tomorrow will be their last day of fishing so lets with them sucess!

Tuna's are in

Hi all,

Things have been picking up here in Cabo mostly for Tuna. Of course as each day goes by they seem to be going further and further. Yesterday we had to go out 37 miles to get them but they're out there.

Marling and Dorado have slowed down a bit, there is a lot of Marlin out there but they aren't too hungry right now making it a bit more of a challenge for our anglers to reel them in! at least you'll have one heck of a time out there!!

The average temperature is between 79F to 84F and that's what we're expecting this whole upcoming week. Winds are blowing between 5-10 mph and and seas have been 3 to 4 ft hight. On Thursday we had choppy seas but nothing too bad.

This is what are fishing looked like from December 16th up to today.

Customer: Walker Cody
Boat: Nuevo and RedRum
Fish Caught Day 1: 1 Dorado
Fish Caught Day 2: 8 tuna and 1 Dorado
Crew: Alex and Manuel / Omar and Americo
Cody fished with us back in June and decided to come for another two days of fishing. Even though his first day was a bit slowed, that didn't disencourage this group to go out a second time. The day they fished with Nuevo was a great day out there, they caught a total of 8 Tuna and 1 Dorado. Taking their catch to Misiones de Kino to get it cooked up in their unique way.

Customer: Barbara Williams
Boat: Tantrum
Fish Caught: 3 Dorado between 10-15 Lbs
Crew:Ramon and Juan
Barbara went with her party of 4 and had a great time out in the water. I think I remember someone saying they had got seasick, but can't confirm this!! Anyhow, it was great out in the water and had a nice number of Dorado at the end. Thanks Barbara and hopefully we'll see you again in the near future.

Customer: Lou Wheeler
Boat: RedRum
Fish Caught:12 Tuna 25-30 Lbs
Once they were all set to start their fishing trip Cindy decided not to join Lou in this trip so he went solo. Not a bad day for one guy, huh? Congrats Lou!!

Customer: Robin Cogan
Boat: Tantrum
Fish Caught: 1 Tuna
Crew: Ramon and Jesus
Robin and Hub wen't on a full day trip on Thursday but decided to come back a bit early after they got soaked! it wasn't a bad day though, for a half day they caught 1 Tuna! Nice job guys. Have a safe flight home.

Customer: John Pierson
Boat: Nuevo
Fish Caught Day 2: 11 Tuna 20-30 Lbs
Crew:Alex and Manuel
John had an awesome time the first day he wen't fishing so he decided to go for round two and boy he did great. Had a total of 11 Tuna on his second trip and 1 Dorado on day 1. Nice job John, hope to see you again next year.

Fishing is taking place on the pacific side going anywhere from 26 to 37 miles out to catch them.

Tuna, Tuna, Dorado & Marlin!

Happy Wednesday Guys,

Really looking forward for the upcoming holidays! I will be flying to Mexico City and visiting my whole family who will be reuniting after a a few years. Awesome!!! I am so thrilled. But enough about that.

Even though fishing has been OK these past couple of days, we've still been slammin' Tuna, Dorado and Stripers!

Out of the 4 boats we had out yesterday, they all came back with a catch or a catch and release!

On Nuevo we had Marilyn Cox and her party of 4 fishing with Captain Jesus and Mate Manuel. Someone from that crew said Jesus was a wonderful performer, we are glad to receive all sorts of feedback related to our crew. So out in the water it started off a bit slow in the morning but in the end they had caught and released a Striped Marlin. Captain said it was around 120 Lbs. Great team Work Cox's!

RedRum's crew Omar, Americo and Jesus also received great reviews from John Pierson who said Jesus had a great eye to spot Marlin (Ironic but both Jesus' are father and son) anyways, John ended his day with a 160 Lbs Striped Marlin that was around 9ft! and a 25 Lbs Dorado. Not bad huh?

We also caught a big Tuna yesterday 50 Lbs which is not a bad size at all! this was on a half day trip with Return customer Ken Kessler who had fished with us earlier this year. Ken loves the way we work that's why he always comes back and is even scheduled for another two more trips in Feb. 2011! Thanks Ken!
He fished on Tantrum with Ramon and Juan (Juan is also brother to Jesus and son of Jesus...Sorry for the confusion!) Juan is also our employee of the month. Ken caught a 50 lb Yellowfin Tuna out on the Pacific side yesterday. Congratulations.

Last but not least, we had another half day trip with Ken Sylvester. His trip started around 11 since he was on a cruise ship and the arrival was delayed an hour and a half. But in the end he and Jake Sylvester reeled in 3 Yellowfin tunas that were between 8-10Lbs. All fish was caught and released in this party. They fished on ReelRum with Captain Edgar and Mate Omar.

Slammin' Saturday...

While we only had two boats out today it was a ridiculous day on the water. Crazy how things can change over the course of 24 hours. ***This is a post that the Harrison party from yesterday is not going to want to read.***

Pescado III after an embarrassing day on the water yesterday (not like it was for lack of trying or effort,) they once again earned the respect of the fishermen of Los Cabos. Tim Bayer, and the Lilly brothers got into a nice school of Yellowfin and landed more than 20 Yellowfin between 15-50lbs... Awesome day!!!

My good buddy Joey Minvielle and his lovely wife Ashley arrived this morning for their first of 3 days on the water. They are fishing two days on RedRum, our new 31' Bertram, and a final day aboard El Nuevo RedRum. They loved the new Bertram and had a great day on the water. Joey hooked into a nice Striped Marlin and not ten minutes into the fight, Americo spotted another Marlin. He pitched bait, hooked up and soon had Ashley working on her first Marlin ever!!! Joey got booted from the chair and Ashley made short work of her first Marlin catching and releasing the fish in less than 20 minutes. She was nice enough to do so, so that Joey could once again use the fighting chair. They caught and released one other Marlin and even grabbed 2 Dorado on the way in so they could enjoy a nice dinner at their favorite spot, Misiones de Kino.

Either you find the Tuna or you find the skunk...

That was the theme today for most of our boats. You have to remember that we get all kinds of requests from anglers; "I only want to catch a Marlin!!!" Or the even more specific, "I want to catch a 6000lb Dorado."

That being said, the boats that wanted to catch Tuna or left it up to the Captain and Mate did fine today, but it wasn't one of those days that you could order your catch like you were at Long John Silvers. We certainly have those days in Cabo and probably more than anywhere else, but not today. That being said....

Walt Harrison and his son-in-law and grandson Ralph and Brad Phillips joined Omar and Americo on RedRum and they found the Tuna. After Ralph and Brad brought a few 15-20 lb fish in, they told Walt it was his turn. "Grandpa's Luck" would prevail as Walt fought a 50+lb Yellowfin for over an hour before Americo was able to sink the gaff and get the fish aboard.

Harrison Smith, a friend of a friend from Houston, Texas was down with a big group and they decided to head out for a day together on Pescado III, the 42' Stopperton. They had a nice day on the water enjoying whales, porpoise, and adult beverage's. Unfortunately, they did not spend any time on the Rod and Reel. As a disclaimer, the Smith crew wasn't picky, they just wanted to catch fish, the fish just weren't interested. That happens.

Jesse Logan joined the crew of ReelRum for a day on the water and I think they threw every lure, type of bait, style of rigging, etc at fish they saw, but couldn't buy a bite. You can lead a horse to water....

Todd and Yolanda Blechinger from Thief River Falls, Minnesota got into the fish early and often today. They had caught and released more than 10 Yellowfin before 10am they claimed when they returned to the office in the afternoon. With the grass always being greener on the other side of the pasture, they decided to leave the school and search for some Marlin. They ended the day with the Yellowfin and nothing more unfortunately. That's the decision you have to make sometimes though. Glad they were lucky enough to be in that position.

Fellow Minnesotan's, Paul and Peggy Kohl, celebrating their honeymoon nonetheless, spent the day with Ramon and Juan on Tantrum and had a good day. Considering they didn't find the Tuna and no one could buy a Marlin bite, they were still able to manage to bring in 4 nice Dorado. Congrats on the marriage guys!

A bit better

Hey there,

Today we had a better day. We had 2 boats out and this is how they did:

On Nuevo we had Reginald Dacyk and his crew all the way from Canada to fish with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. Together they reeled in 2 yellowfin tunas one of them was 10 lbs and the other 25lbs.

On Tantrum we had Chris Cook and Ashley McLean fishing with Captain Ramon and Mate Jesus. They had a great day out in the water and caught a total of 7 Dorado. Great job guys.

180 Lbs Striped Marlin.

Hey there Guys,
Christmas is just 2 weeks away, have you gotten all your shopping ready?????? I still need to buy a few more things before I can actually say I'm done, but I honestly ran out of ideas, so if you can send some over I would really appreciate them!!! haha

Anyways, fishing today was good, we had 3 boats out but only 2 were lucky enough to catch something.

On tantrum we had Nathan Bailey fishing with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan for the second day. During their first trip they caught 4 Yellowfin tuna around 20-25 Lbs. Today their luck increased reeling in 4 Dorado and catching and releasing a 180 Lbs Striped Marlin. Let's see how they do tomorrow, only one more Marlin and they are all set!!! Think we can make it happen?? I do. The marlin was c/r in 30 mins. Nice job!!!

On ReelRum we had Brandon Wilhelm, Joseph Moore and Keith Moore fishing with Captain Edgar and Mate Omar. They started off a bit slow but had their first bite around 11:00 AM ending their trip with 5 Dorado between 15-20 Lbs. They were planning on having a nice dinner tonight and saving up the rest. Enjoy your meal guys!

Monday-Windy on the Marina, and Windy on the Water

While yesterday's breezy conditions on the Marina didn't effect the fishing, today the clients said it was a little bit more rough out on the water. No one came back early and I didn't hear of anyone feeding the fish, but the swells were a bit bigger today.

Ben and Christine Kraft, down from Alaska, joined us for a day on the water aboard El Nuevo RedRum. Chasing Marlin and Dorado is a bit different than Salmon and Halibut fishing, and they had a blast doing so. They each caught a Marlin and also caught a small Dorado for dinner.

Jason and Shelle Feldner, down from North Dakota, joined us aboard RedRum today. Jason guides fishing and hunting trips in the Dakota's, they just don't get too many Marlin up that way. Luckily, we were able to hook them up to one, which they caught and released and they also got into a nice school of Yellowfin. They ended up with 8 nice Tuna, some into the 50lb range.

Jeffrey Kaser and his crew have fished with us for years now, but today was not the lucky day. He fished with Javier and Ramon on Rum Runnin', and they pitched bait to countless Marlin (Javier said 10, Ramon said 12) but couldn't get bit. Jeff is back out on the water Wednesday, better luck then.

-Ryan

Sunday- Windy on the Marina, Nice on the Water...

The wind was howling today on the Marina, so I was expecting a few boats back early with sea sick customers. Not the case, everyone was back around 2:30-3:000pm with flags flying and big smiles. Apparently, out on the Pacific the water was smooth, just a random Southeast wind we were getting hammered by in the marina.

That being said, I am glad everyone was able to enjoy a nice day on the water. Eddie Dodds and the Deleware crew were back at it again today with Jesus and Manuel on El Nuevo RedRum and they headed out from the lighthouse and got into some Yellowfin Tuna. Eddie said, "We could have caught them all day, but wanted to head out and look for some Marlin." They never got that Marlin, but ended the day with 6 Yellowfin Tuna.

Robert Ross and Kindra Powers, down from Hopedale, Massachusetts, are back visiting us again for the 3rd or 4th time I believe. Robert always brings a 1 pound bag of Dunkin Donuts Coffee for me, and so far it's been good luck for him. Today they threw bait at tons of Marlin, but ended the day with 2 Dorado.

Dan Weisensel and Tracee were back at it for day 2, and after 3 Marlin and 1 Dorado on day 1, they finished up with 1 more Marlin today to top off a great trip to Cabo!

Awesome Saturday.

Fished started to pick up today really good. We caught and released a Blue Marlin that was about 160 Lbs, we got Dan his first Marlin ever! and the seas were smooth.

After a long week and fish bites being a bit slow, we ended this last weekend of November with good numbers. Fishing took place by the lighthouse, winds were blowing very gently and seas were 2 ft while the sun was shinning at 80F...perfect day huh?

Even though Tuna is still no where around, we caught a blue Marlin which weighed 160 Lbs. Long time customer Matthew Bunnn and Heather Beaulieu from Washington fished with RedRum for the 4th time I think and their day was excellent. They fished on ReelRum with Captain Edgar and Mate Alonso. Their final number was 2 Marlin (one Blue and 1 Striped) and a decent size dorado which they kept for tomorrow's dinner. The striped Marlin was 100 lbs.

The CCA Hayes/Lambert party fished for two days while enjoying their stay at one of RedRum's Portofino Condo. Their first fishing trip with RedRum consisted of 4 Dorado, 2 Wahoos (The biggest one being 55 Lbs) and 1 Striped Marlin. First day was rough out there, I guess the weather channel did not foresee the real height of the seas for that day, which made me look bad, but all ended well...just a couple of seasickness but not that bad. Today was completely different. They caught and released 1 Marlin and a Wahoo while enjoying the awesome view of the ocean!

Dan Carhart fished on RumRunnin today alongside his wife Mary Ellen. Dan walked in the office yesterday asking for a charter and after being a bit hesitant to book the boat he finally decided to do it. He told me that he was going after Marlin Specifically, it's what he's always wanted but hadn't been that lucky. He even said he was an unlucky guy when it came to fishing....but that curse was broken with RedRum. He caught his first Striped Marlin by 8 AM just an hour after he took off and it was a 104" Stiper weighing a total of 140 Lbs! What a great size! Dan came back early and was very pleased with the trip. I knew something had gone great when I saw him walk in with that big smile off his face. It was something awesome. I'm glad you did it Dan. Congrats!!!!

Ryan Donovan and his peeps decided to go out on tantrum with Captain Alonso and mate Juan. They fished for a full day and came back with 2 nice Striped Marlin weighing 100 and 120 Lbs respectively.

Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

Thanks for Reading.

Come out, come out where ever you are!

Hi Guys,

There isn't much to report today. Even though the seas were a bit more calm than yesterday it seems like the fish decided not to come out and play.

We fished buy the Palmilla Area as well as Punta Gorda.

Our total number of fish caught was 2 Dorado and 3 Striped Marlin (c/r) the biggest weighed 180Lbs and it was caught on RedRum by Brenton and his crew.
Awesome job guys.

Our remaining 2 Striped Marlin were 90 and 100 Lbs reeled in on Nuevo by Chad Slaton and Mary Hunter Slaton. Captain on this boat was Jesus and Mate was Manuel.
They also caught 1 Dorado.

Thanks for reading.

Not much to report.

Hi there,

Looking forward for this upcoming weekend.
Things were a bit slow today. It's the first time in over 2 or 3 months since we've had a slow day. We still caught fish though but not in the quantities as previous days.

On Nuevo we had Marty Balow, Dennis and Gilbert who fished with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. They caught and released a Striped Marlin around 100 Lbs and a small Dorado about 10 Lbs. Both were caught and released.

James Chaney, Cassie Chaney and John Chaney fished on RumRunnin today with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. They caught and released a 30 Lbs Marlin. They will be fishing again tomorrow. Let's hope they have better luck!

Thanks for reading.

Stiped Marlin all the Way!

It seems like the Marlin from '08 ARE BACK!
We have been catching and releasing Marlin like a changing diapers! They are out there and I am pretty sure it will stay this way until mid December...Don't want to jinx anything though.

Of course Monday was the best day this week with the 31 Striped Marlin plus other fish but we still have 3 more days to go before the week ends and we can't complain of what we've caught in these last couple of days since it's also been great.

Fishing has taken place by the Golden Gates and the Migrino Bank on the Pacific Side. Not too much action going on in the Sea of Cortez but it's Cabo so everything can change from one day to another.

On another note, I've also received pictures from some of you and I will post them shortly.

This is our fish report for November 16th and 17th. Enjoy!

Boat: RumRunnin
Anglers: Ryan and Hilary Leifheit
Crew: Javier and Jesus
Catch: 3 Marlin (C/R) and 1 Dorado

Boat: Nuevo
Anglers: Jason Adams, Joe, Tony, Dave and Jeremy
Crew: Manuel and Fabian
Catch: 3 Striped Marlin and 3 Wahoo
Weight: No estimate provided
Comments: Even though we weren't informed of the weight, we guess it's between the same size of our other Marlin's. All fish was Caught and Release. Nice Job GUYS!

Boat: RedRum
Anglers: Merryl Thornton, Justin Thornton and Vernon Bartlett
Crew: Omar and Americo
Catch: 2 Marlin and 1 Tuna
Weight: Tuna was 20 Lbs and Marlins were between 110-140 Lbs!

Are the Striped Marlin of 08' back?

One might think so after seeing the boats come back today! For those of you that were lucky enough to be down here or even read about it, in late 08' through February of 09', a massive amount of Striped Marlin spent about 4 months feeding and putting on quite a show up at Golden Gate. Welllllll, they might just be back.

Pat Suffern and his group of 10 buddies, all from the New Orleans area are down on a Stay and Play Package. They fished aboard Rum Runnin and El Nuevo today and had absolutely phenominal Marlin fishing at Golden Gate. Rum Runnin was the first boat back and they had 8 Striped Marlin, 1 Sailfish and a 1 Dorado. El Nuevo wasn't far behind and they took the daily prize with 10 Striped Marlin and 2 Dorado. The guys said it was absolutely incredible out at Golden Gate with Feeders and Tailers all over the place. They also had great things to say about the crews working hard throughout the day, all the way until the end, even though they had banner day's by noon. Great stuff guys!

Allister Brookes fished by himself today aboard ReelRum and he too had all he could handle with 3 Striped Marlin and 1 Dorado. It gets tough to bring in as many as the Suffern groups did when you are fishing by yourself.

John Laffey and Geraldine McKiernan are visiting from Florida and they have two days fishing with us. After catching Mahi, Wahoo, Sails and just about everything else the ocean has to offer, today Geraldine made it well known that she was after her first Marlin! Ramon and Juan on TantRum didn't dissapoint, they caught and released 6 Stripers by the time things were said and done.

Dave Bartos, who is bringing his kids back for some fishing later in the week just couldn't wait to get out on the water so he spent the morning fishing from a Panga, inshore. He caught a heap of Roosterfish (they are all over the place right now and aggresive) and a few Dorado as well. Not too shabby.

Kaye Peters and her folks were out with Omar and Americo today for their final day of fishing before heading back to South Carolina. We will be sad to see Jerry and Cordelia go as they are such sweet people, but I think we sent them off in style. They caught and released 15 Dorado, 4 Striped Marlin, and 3 Bonita today. Luckily, they saved a few Dorado filets for us to enjoy at Misiones de Kino tonight. Thanks again for coming down and fishing with us, it is always such a pleasure to have you guys around and on-board. You are truly a part of the extended RedRum family!

-Ryan

Busy Sunday in Cabo!

Fishing has been red hot for all our anglers this month and the streak continues. Dorado and Yellowfin have still been around in great numbers and we are starting to see some awesome Striped Marlin up at Golden Gate. Feeders and Tailers everywhere!

Jason and Clayton Bourne, down with a big wedding party took out three boats today. Ramon and Juan on TantRum were able to hook into 1 Marlin, 3 Yellowfin and 1 Dorado, Alex and Manuel on El Nuevo were able to hook into 1 Marlin and 7 Dorado, and Omar and Americo were the unlucky ones, with several Marlin strikes but only 1 Dorado on the day. Of course, as things played out, the Bourne brothers were with Omar and Americo. They spend all the time getting the boats booked and herding everyone down here and they were only rewarded with one little Dorado. That being said, they were stoked all their friends did well.

Craig and Amanda came in late on Friday afternoon and unfortunately, all our boats were booked up. We got them out with Luis on Cabo Chica though and they had a blast with Dorado but what Craig really wanted was for Amanda to hook her first Marlin. It took a few hours, but mission accomplished! Congrats!

Cody Lavelett and Mike Kiser were back at it again for their second day on the water and the ladies, Tonya and Joy went along as well. They fished with Captain Javier and his mate, Jesus. They got into a nice school of Tuna and the fish were hungry. They ended the day with 7 Yellowfin and a Marlin as well.

The Thornton's were back at it again today aboard ReelRum with Edgar and Omar. They had another great day bringing in 2 Striped Marlin and 2 Dorado.

Our good friends Kaye Lynn and her folks and nephew from Atlanta, decided on another day on the water today and they wanted to go out and search for Tuna. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, it's not called catching, it's called fishing. They never could find a school that wanted to eat. They have one more day on Monday and I am sure they will succeed.

Hey You!
I know we’ve been gone for a while, but here we are again bringing you the latest information on how fishing has been. I promise all your pics will be uplodad.
Things are really great here in Cabo, the weather is just fantastic! No sight of rain any time soon which is SUPERB and fishing is speechless. We’ve been having a lot of success with Marlin, Tuna and Dorado. Since this is a 5 day fish report I will write out a brief description on what was caught on our boats from Nov. 7th – 11th.
The average wind speed this week was between 6-8 miles per hour and waves were 3 and 4 ft high making the seas very nice to sail! It’s not rough or choppy out there so people, pack your bags and book the next flight to Cabo!

Better than ever!

Hi Guys,

We are back on track and updating the fish report on a daily basis.
Tournaments these past weeks have kept us busy. We don't complain but I thought I'd let you know why it hasn't been updated.

Today we had a great day. Weather was perfect, seas being 3 ft every 14 seconds, winds blowing between 3 to 6 miles per hour and temperture is still 90F.

On Nuevo we had Kurt Armstrong with his party of 6 fishing along with Captain Alex and Mate Manuel. They caught a total of 5 Yellowfin tuna the biggest being 120 Lbs and the second biggest was 110Lbs. It took them 43 Min to reel in the first and about 50 to reel in the last one. They caught the tuna on Live bait with an 80 Lb Test. Nice going guys. Hope you enjoy your meal tonight.

Tim Thorton fished on our 31' RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. Tim and his friend caught and released a Striped Marlin aroun 120 Lbs and 3 Dorados average weight was between 15-20 Lbs

Marlin Master Sharon Day and her husband Kirk from Indianapolis fished on Tantrum today with Captain Juan and Mate Omar. They caught and released a total of 2 Striped Marlin. Kirk's was 110 Lbs and Sharon caught the big one weighing 125 Lbs! Awesome job guys, so glad you went out on the trip and please don't forget to send in the pics so I can post them on this fish report and our other sites. You guys ROCK!!! I owe you the Marlin flags.

Last but not least we had Steve Henson fishing solo on our 32' RumRunnin with Captian Javier and Mate Fabian. During his fishing trip he caught a total of 8 Dorado weighing between 20-30 Lbs and caught and released 2 Striped Marlin. The first being 120 Lbs and the second one being 100 Lbs.

Thank you all for reading.

a bit of everything....LONG FISH REPORT.

Fishing yesterday was great, as it has been throughout October.
We did a bit of everything yesterday, including a 650 LBS Blue Marlin caught on RedBeam

and a 175 Yellowfin Tuna. Seas have been calm, weather has been perfect and fishing...excellent.

Just as a reminder, this weekend we end our Daylight Savings Time so set your clocks back to standard time on Saturday night and don't be late!!!!

They were all caught and released. Gary will be fishing again on Nov. 3rd aboard our 33' Nuevo. We will see how he does that day.

On this day everyone showed up on time and were ready to start trollin' away! Their catch consisted of 1 Dorado and 1 Tuna...it seems like it was a bit slower this day but at least you guys caught something right?
Yesterday was their last day and they managed to reel a Wahoo, a Dorado and last but not least a Striped Marlin! Thanks Louie, I hope to see you soon.

70 Lbs Wahoo!!! and tons of Marlin.

That's Right guys, RedRum striked a big Wahoo!

John Donovan went out fishing today with Warren Coupland aboard Tantrum with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan. They fished for a full day and came back by 2:30. Tuna, Wahoo and Dorado was on the menu for this lucky team. They caught 4 yellowfin Tuna by the lighthouse, 1 Dorado and a 70 Lb Wahoo by the 95 Bank. It was a huge Wahoo, Warren was excited and took some for dinner tonight.

Honeymooners Tom Matulaniec and Kate Gold wen't out fishing for a full day on RumRunnin. These newley weds had their trip planned months ago and everything was taken care of upon their arrival. They had a great day out there. Came back a little early after they had caught and released 1 Blue Marlin (120 Lbs) and 3 Striped Marlin between 100-110 Lbs. We are glad they enjoyed their trip. Congrats you two.

From Canada we had Rick Koenig and his party of 3 fishing on ReelRum for a full day trip. They will be fishing with us for two more days and we hope there following days are just as fun as this one was. They caught a total of 4 Striped Marlin, biggest one being 180 Lbs while the rest were in between 140 - 170. You can say they were BIG!. They also reeled in three 20 Lbs Dorado. They started off with the right foot, so I am guessing these guys will fill up our freezer back there!

Louie Pieracci has been fishing for two days now. On Day 1 they caught and released a total of 5 Marlin caught and released and 2 Dorado. Today their they were still lucky but not as lucky as yesterday. They caught a total of 1 Dorado and 1 Tuna, but they were still happy with outcome and we will be seeing them on Thursday for their last trip.

Thanks for reading.

Primus Team

Hey Everyone,

I know we haven't updated the Fish Report but you can imagine how crazy October has been, especially if you have just been fishing with us...you saw our white board and all the names on it.

Fishing has been excellent we couldn't be any happier. I still have some pending pictures and videos to upload and I will have them ready by next week. Thanks to all of you who have sent them in.

Yesterday was an extremely awesome day. 7 boats out and a total of 15 striped Marlin all caught and released, 4 yellowfin tuna and 21 Dorado.

Erik Gunderson and his party of 24 went fishing on almost all the boats. His group split into 6 boats Tantrum, RumRunnin, RedRum, ReelRum, Anzuelo and Fish tails

On Tantrum team number one with captain Ramon and mate Juan caught a total of 3 Dorado and C/R 1 Marlin 120 Lbs
For team number two we had Jesus and Edgar on the wheel while team members aboard ReelRum caught 9 Dorado and 1 Marlin
Javier and Jesus Captain and Mate for did a great job for team 3 aboard RumRunnin who had a total of 6 Dorado and 1 Striped Marlin
Redrum's score was 1 Dorado and 4 Marlin and they had also released another 4!
Captain Omar and Mate Americo worked very hard and in the end provided excellent work.
On Fish Tails team members caught and released 1 marlin
and the last team on Anzuelo had a total of 4 tuna and 2 Dorado.

They fished with us today again and we are still waiting to hear how well day 2 went. They had less crew members but the ones who showed up where really pysched about the trip.

This month is almost over and we might be a bit more able to update the fish report on a daily basis. Please bare with us guys.

Thanks

500 + Blue Marlin

Hi Guys,

After so much commotion and winning first place in the Bisbee's Offshore tournament, we are back to normal here in the office. It's been crazy as you can all imagine. Congratulations for the winning team who was on Missing Lenk along with Owner of RedRum Ryan Donovan.

Today was a bit calm here in the office which gave us enough time to finish off some pending work but tomorrow we once again will be meeting deadlines...we can't complain, we're doing good, RedRum can make it happen.

Today we had 6 boats out. Fishing took place on the sea of Cortez but it was a bit rough out there, we are expecting smoothe seas tomorrow though. Will definitely let you know. We will also begin with the Blak and Blue Bisbee's tournament tomorrow. We won't be participating but good look to all the anglers who are.

Arthur Rick fished once again on Tantrum and caught 1 small dorado and 1 wahoo about Lbs. Captain for the day was Ramon and Mate Juan. They will be fishing again on Thursday.

Joseph Procida, Victor Nyborg and Richard Stern fished on RedBeam. This is their first trip out of three and they managed to catch 1 dorado. There was a member of their team that got a bit seasick and hopefully on Thursday he'll be able to handle the seas a bit better. Seas were 4ft every 11 sec.

Michael Conway fished with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus on RumRunnin today. They caught and released a 150 Lbs Striped Marin and 4 Dorado between 20 - 30 Lbs. They were going to get some of that nice dorado cooked up probably at Misiones de Kino or the Hacienda Cantina...either way their meal will be great, both these restaurants are my favs and do an awesome job.

Steve Stell fished on ReelRum today with Captain Jesus and Mate Edgar. Their total catch consisted of 1 Dorado and 100 Lb Striped Marlin. Both were released.

And we are still waiting for Tim Hatch's second boat to come in. They have been fighiting a Blue Marlin for more than 6 hours now...I can imagine how tired they must be! The crew thinks it's over 500 Lbs! Let's hope these guys don't get Too tired and manage to bring it on the boat. That for sure is a Kodak Moment! THey are fishing 12 miles off the Migrino Bank and have been there for quite a while trying to bring it in.

We will keep you posted.

Thanks
Nick

Dorado Frenzy!

We’ve had a super busy Sunday here at the RedRum office. As the tournament season thickens here in Cabo, so does all the general traffic on the water. We had a whopping 9 boats head out this morning. Here is a recap of how they all did on that 83 degree water.

As you guys may know the Bisbee’s Offshore Tournament is going on right now, with Day 2 just finishing up. Ryan is fishing along with the Arthur party on Missing Lenk, no update yet as to how big their Tuna is that they’ll be bringing to scale.

The Roberts clan headed out this morning including Mike, Robert, David, Patricia, Robert, Lynn, Steve, Corey, Karen and Craig on board El Nuevo. These Austin natives are always down for a good time every year they come down fishing with us. Thanks as always for your continued business and great attitudes! El Nuevo was back first after heading out to the Golden Gate area. Fishing closer to the shore an area called Cerrito de Golden they reeled in the majority of their catch. With a whopping 7 Dorado all ranging from 15 – 25 lbs as well as 1 Striped Marlin weighing around 120 pounds. They are gearing up for a yummy dinner at Hacienda.

Arthur and Bradley Rick headed out for Day 2 aboard Tantrum. Coming all the way from Calgary, they are enjoying themselves up at the condos at Portofino for their Stay & Play trip. Today was a killer day for them out at El Cerrito near Golden Gate. With skip jack as their bait they pulled in 13 Dorado, around 15-25 pounds in weight. They released 9 of them and are keeping the rest to take home and to have Chef Cesar prepare a feast for them back at the condo. They had at one point a Striped Marlin and Wahoo hooked up but both got away.

We had a partial group show up today to head out on Pescado III. Those that made the trip were Ross, John, Paul, Gerard, Jeff and Sam. They were 5-6 out from the Lighthouse on the Pacific side where they caught a 140 pound Striper on a hurricane lure. They also got a juvenile sailfish weighing about 60-70 pounds, releasing them both. And last but not least a nice 20 pound Dorado caught on a Ballyhood lure.

Frank, Robert, Donald and Mike headed out again today aboard RumRunnin. They are also staying up at the Portofino condos enjoying their Stay & Play trip. These guys from New Jersey headed out to Golden Gate and were able to pull in 2 Dorado right around 30 pounds each. They are hoping for a more action filled day tomorrow, so we’ll see what Monday brings for them.

Phil along with David, Jeff and Andrea all from California headed out on Anzuelo II with Captain Salvador. They headed out to the Pacific as well where they reeled in 5 Dorado around 20 pounds, one was a little guy. At one point they even had a triple hook up! In the midst of all the action they also had a shark following them that continued to break their line resulting in 3 lost lures. But all in all they’ve got some Dorado for dinner.

And last but not least was Dale Haines and his wife aboard ReelRum. They had a great day out there reeling in and releasing 1 Striped Marlin weighing about 120 pounds. They caught it out at Golden Gate on a hurricane lure. They also reeled in and released a 25 pound Dorado on a dead bait. Great job you guys!

Check back soon for an update on the Bisbee's Offshore Tournament.

Bisbee's Offshore Day 2 Update

As you guys may know, Clint Arthur one of our favorite clients is fishing in the Bisbee's Offshore Tournement today. This is Day 2, the last day of the tournament. They are out with Captain Mike on Missing Lenk with Ryan along as well. We just got a confirmed report that they just landed a large Yellowfin Tuna on board. We aren't sure of the size yet, but will do our best to keep you posted.

Los Cabos Billfish Tournament

The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament took place October 13th, 14th and 15th. We've been crazy busy around here but wanted to be sure and recap this super exciting tournament!

We had one of our very own, RumRunnin, Captain Javier and Mate Jesus fishing in the tournament this year once again with Joe Assenza, his buddies Dave and Randy and his two sons Jason and Darryl. Last year these guys fished the Billfish Tournament and placed Day 1 in the Wahoo Jackpot bringing them home a nice chunk of change along with a trophy we've had proudly displayed at our office. This year they too were able to find a spot on stage with a check and nice trophy.

Jason was the lucky angler on Day 3, who is a 22 year old recent college graduate from Indiana and it was his first real time deep sea fishing. Don't let his inexperience fool you, he was able to land that Blue Marlin quite smoothly. And just when you think that these tournaments are only for professionals, don't be fooled, we welcome all levels to participate. Team RumRunnin came back on Day 3 to the scales with the monster Blue Marlin not sure of it's weight. They were the first boat of the day back with a Marlin on board, with word of two other boats with Marlin on board as well. Scales went up and this monster weighed a whopping 465 pounds! Although it didn't beat the first place Marlin that weighed in at 713 pounds from Day 1, it was the biggest fish of the day so far. Not too much later the two other boats weighed in their Marlin weighing 466 pounds and 463 pounds. It's amazing how important a pound is in fishing, because in this case it bumped our proud crew to 3rd place. Team RumRunnin graciously accepted their 3rd place overall in the tournament with the 3rd biggest Marlin in the 3 day tournament. We're so proud of Jason and the whole team for their wonderful sportsmenship and great attitude. We thank you guys for letting us keep your trophy and check for display in the office, for bragging rights on your behalf! Well done guys, we'll see you again next year. And for those that are interested in fishing in any of these fun tournements let us know. Shoot us an email and we'll gladly answer any questions you have about how easy it is to grab some friends and form a team!

Great Day! 200 Lbs Striped Marlin

As I mentioned in Previous reports, Today Clint Arthur and Ryan Donovan are out fishing in the Bisbee's Offshore tournament. So far we have no report on how their day is going. Hopefully something big...Suspense is killing us!

Fishing today was good. We did the Pacific side mostly. We had Wahoo's Sailfish, Marlin, Dorado but no sadly no Tuna

Our freezers are full of fish that is for sure which means RedRum has been doing an excellent job.

This is what we did today:

Vincent and Heather McAllister fished on Tantrum and caught 6 Dorado and 1 Sailfish about 110 Lbs being in between 7-8 ft. They came back into the office and showed me pics and videos of their catch...It was an awesome video guys I sure hope Vincent sends it in so all of you can watch it. Thanks Guys.

Frank Collison fished on RumRunnin today and on his first day of fishing he caught 2 nice size dorado 35 Lbs and 3 striped Marlin (C/R) the biggest was 200 Lbs! That's the biggest one this month.

Matt Wenstrom fished on RedRum and caught a total of 6 DOrado and 1 Striped Marlin 8 ft 160 Lbs which was Caught and released.

Last but not least Paul Spann and his party of 9 fished on Pescado III and on Knot So Slippery. Their final number for day 1 was 9 Dorado and 2 Striped Marlin and 1 Wahoo. They will be fishing with us the next couple of days and we'll let you know how they did.

Thanks for Reading.

Blue Marlin over 400 Lbs Los Cabos Billfish Tournament: RumRunnin

Hey guys,

This just in. RumRunnin has a blue Marlin which they think is more than 400 Lbs.
This boat is participating in the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament. Joe Assenza has been fishing throughout the whole tournament and today just might be his lucky day.

Jason Pruden seems to be the angler who reeled in the Marlin, it took him 135 min. They are heading back to the weighing station to see just how much it weighed. Let's wish them good luck guys!!!!

Go Joe & Crew!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

They caught a 50 Lbs Yellowfin and a 30 Lbs Dorado. They will be fishing for the next couple of days and hopefully things will be even better than today.

Miguel Locatelli fished along with his buddy Carlton Hughes from Alaska and fished on our 28' ReelRum with Captain Jesus and Mate Francisco. They had purchased a full day trip but decided to come back in a bit earlier than expected. Their final number was 16 Dorado in total but only kept their limit.

Chris Needle fished for his 3rd and last day aboard the 31' RedRum and after 3 days of fishing he finally caught and released a Striped Marlin around 150 Lbs! Congratulations Chris. He also caught 4 Dorado around 30 Lbs

My Friends Richard Krueckel, Terry and Matt Teeple from Sacramento fished on El Nuevo with Captain Alex and Mate Omar. These guys had an awesome time out there and Matt caught his first Striped Marlin which was 7 ft 100 Lbs! Congratulations Matt. They also reeled in 8 Dorado.

Yesterday he caught 11 Dorado by the Golden Gate bank and today he caught and released 2 Striped Marlin. Monday, Monday....

Today we had another beautiful day on the water here in Cabo. Calm seas, and mid 80's water made for another great fishing day. A buzz is certainly in the air as this week marks the beginning of Tournament Season in Cabo San Lucas. We get started with the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament on Wednesday and Captains and Mates are getting excited.

Brian Impey and his crew from San Jose, California fished with Jesus and Edgar on ReelRum and they had a great day on the water. They finished with day with their daily limit, of 2 Dorado's per person for a total of 8.

Don Jackson and his son Brad, down from good ole Fort Worth, Texas (Go Horned Frogs) joined Ramon and Juan on TantRum today and they had a fish of a lifetime, almost two actually. The day started off with 3 Dorado and then a catch and release Striped Marlin. Ramon then spotted a school of Porpoise and Juan got the Tuna jigs out and into the spread. When Ramon got in front of the school, Juan pitched a Ballyhoo back which immeadiately got inhaled by a 200+ lb Yellowfin. He passed the rod off, and quickly rigged another. By the time he pitched the second Ballyhoo, the first Tuna had come off, but he quickly hooked another, this time a 180 lb Yellowfin. Finally, he hooked about a 60lb Yellowfin and both fish were landed. What an awesome experience.

The Kruse crew headed out for their second day on the water aboard both RedBeam and El Nuevo RedRum. They were focused on Billfish today, and they got what they were after. RedBeam had 2 Striped Marlin and 1 Sailfish, and El Nuevo finished with 2 Striped Marlin.

Day 2 of fishing for Evan Miller and his crew was another awesome day. Javier and Jesus got the guys into the Dorado and they finished with 9 for the day.

I could go on and on, but basically, the Dorado bite is non-stop. Some huge Tuna are around, and the Billfish bite has been great.

We are busy getting ready for the Tournaments, so we apologize for the short fish reports but I think you all get the general idea that Cabo is red hot right now and we are super busy.

Thanks,
Ryan

Catching up... What a crazy busy month!

As most of you know, October is our busiest time of year with all the tournaments and the incredible fishing. We tend to get behind on the Fish Report and for that we apologize. Quick synopsis, fishing is great.

The guys have been fishing both sides, the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific with great success. Bait has still been a little tough to come by, but with the Ballyhoo we had sent over from Mainland Mexico via airfreight, we have been hooking up non-stop.

Sunday we had 6 boats out, and everyone had great success.

As many of you know, Cabo Wabo, annually celebrates owner Sammy Hagars birthday with 5 or 6 shows in the month of October, by none other than Sammy himself. A few members of the band took a day off to head out on the water with Pescado III, and they came back with 6 Dorado and a nice Wahoo.

TantRum fished with Richard Marsh, Al Moler, Joey and Ashley Lassiter for the day and they too had a great day. They finished the day with 7 Dorado and 1 Dorado.

Mike Murphy has been coming to Cabo for years and years and he couldn't catch the elusive Marlin he had been looking for. A Marlin was a "bucket list" item for Mike and finally after 5 attempts, RedRum got him on the fish! Mike caught and released a Striped Marlin and also caught 4 Mahi Mahi.

El Nuevo fished with Marc Lamberti, Michael O'Donnell and Jason Keller today. This was the Massachusetts connection, with all the guys hailing from the Boston area. Never hurts to wear a Red Sox hat into the office the morning of your charter and it certainly didn't hurt these guys. To be perfectly honest, we spent so much time "bs"ing that I forgot to get an exact count on the fish, but I know they had Wahoo, Tuna and Dorado and they had a blast out there.

Tracy and Joel Wegenast, along with their boys Casey and Gary, joined Javier again for another great day on the water. They finished with 7 Dorado and 1 Marlin.

Paul and Patrick Ferrigno along with his girlfriend Belinda Hargright are down again for the 3rd year in a row, enjoying our Stay and Play package. They had 7 Dorado and 1 Marlin on day one of their adventure.

Quick Recap!

Yes, Yes I know I've said this before but I haven't had time to write up a fish report for these last couple of days and I know you are all wondering how we've been doing. So I will write a small recap of these last couple of days.

Thanks for reading.

Oct. 6th

Mark Sweetwood fished for a first day of fishing aboard the 31' RedRum with Captain Omar and Mate Americo. Fishing took place by the 95 bank and their final number for day one was 1 sailfish and 3 average size dorado 15-25 Lbs
He will be fishing again on Oct. 8th

Brian Ahearn fished on Oct 5th, on 2 boats 33' NUevo and 31' RedRum. Nuevo did a total of 15 Dorado while RedRum was only able to reel in 5 Dorado. Captains on the boat those days were Manuel and Omar for Nuevo and Omar and Americo on RedRum

Ethan Rhodenizer and his crew fish on the 6th aboard the 28' Tantrum with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan. they caught a total of 10 Dorado, releasing 2 of them. Sizes were between 15 - 25 Lbs.

Longtime customer Roger Huffman played and stayed at the portofino condos and fished for 3 days on RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Jesus. As you remember on day 1 these guys reeled in a 132' 360 Lbs Blue Marlin. Well fishing for the following days was also great on day 2 which was the 5th they caught a total of 15 Dorado and 1 Striped Marlin which weighed 120 Lbs. The funny thing is that they had a total of 7 DOrado bite at the same time! you can imagine the pressure these guys had to reel in the fish at the same time, one after another! Great job Roger and Crew.
And on their last day of fishing these guys reeled in a 150 Lbs Yellowfin Tuna, along with a 8 ft Marlin weighing 110LBs. They also caught a Dorado about 25 Lbs. Nice job guys! thanks once again.

Juliana Larson fished on the 6th aboard the 28' ReelRum and caught a total of 4 Dorado. They had also spotted a Marlin and a Mako shark but they did not bite. Captain on this boat was Jesus and Mate Edgar.

Last but not least Kevin Kadowski and his crew fished their last trip with RedRUm on the 6th and came back with a total of 8 Dorado and 1 Marlin about 6ft. All I can say about this group is that they have a lot of fish in the freezers! they did great these 3 days of fishing. Thanks guys!

Sorry for the brief report guys, office is extremely busy these days!!!

More Pics from Kelly & Ralph!

Hey these pictures just in from Ralph and Kelly Horton who fished with us a few weeks ago.

Thanks Kelly!

Monday, a little overcast and a slight breeze

There was a slight breeze this morning that caused a little chop in the water, but nothing too radical. No one was sick or anything and no one came back early, just not glassy. There may be no rhyme or reason to it, but I always feel like I have better days on the water (ie. Catching) when the water has a little chop to it.

The Kadowaki's were back for day two aboard RedRum and they headed north to the Sea of Cortez. Things were slow for a while, as they were looking for Tuna and then things literally exploded. They ran into a school of Porpoise that were chasing bait and the Porpoise school was holding Yellowfin. And Dorado. And Wahoo. And Marlin. And Sailfish. They finished the day with a Sailfish, 4 Tuna, 4 Dorado, 1 Wahoo and 2 Marlin that they hooked but couldn't get to the boat. These guys were slightly stoked when they got back.

Today on TantRum we had a share boat that worked out, which is always great when folks are looking to share the experience and the cost of a day of fishing. Dareld Grube and his wife Kathy, along with Gary Luntz and Anthea Koutroulis spent the day with Ramon and Juan and they had some awesome action as well. They caught and released a Striped Marlin and also caught 7 Dorado.

Jim Poole and his guest joined us for a last minute fishing trip before heading to the airport. They literally got off the boat, changed clothes in the office here and headed to the airport. They had a slow start to the day but managed 4 Dorado and a last minute Marlin.

Roger Huffman and Kendall Karr our good friends from Kansas are back down this year for another Play and Stay Package. http://www.redrumcabo.com/html/packages.html
This year they brought along Joel Jarnigan and Randy Parsons. The guys wanted to focus on Marlin so Javier brought them up to the Golden Gate and it really paid off. They caught and released 3 Striped Marlin before a big Blue Marlin slammed a Williamson Bonito lure on the left corner pole. After making sure they had a good hook-set, Joel Jarnigan was on the rod and he brought in an 11' 8" Blue Marlin that was estimated at over 350lbs. A 9' Striped Marlin and a nearly 12' Blue Marlin isn't all that bad for your first day of offshore fishing in Cabo San Lucas. Roger and Kendall took care of dinner for the crew catching a few Dorado in between the Marlin Madness.

Sunday Session

Today was another beautiful day in Cabo, weather was in the low 90's and water temps are still in the low 80's with some 70 degree water on the Pacific side. Bait is still tough to come by, but we have been pro-active. We just ordered another 50 kilo's, about 110 pounds of Ballyhoo from Mazatlan and it should be here Monday. The Dorado and Marlin have been all over the Ballyhoo, maybe it is because they are not used to seeing it around here. I don't care why, just glad they are eating!

The Reid family from Canada (Lorne, Rob, Rodney, Clayton, Keaton and Gordon) joined us aboard Pescado III today for a great day on the water. The headed north into the Sea of Cortez and found a nice school of Porpoise that was holding Tuna, and Dorado. Everyone got multiple fish as they finished the day with 6 Yellowfin Tuna and 4 Dorado. They were super happy with the boat and crew and loved everything about their first experience, offshore fishing in Cabo.

Brad Williams and his buddies from Jacksonville, Florida joined us aboard TantRum and El Nuevo RedRum today. The guys flipped a coin to see who got the 33' and who got the 28'. We'll they may have lost the coin flip, but they won in terms of fishing with TantRum catching and releasing a nice Blue Marlin. El Nuevo had 3 Marlin hook-ups but couldn't get any to the boat.

Kevin Kadowaki, and his crew from Santa Barbara, California are down for 3 days of fishing and today they headed out on RedRum, our new 31' Bertram. They had a great first day of action with 1 Striped Marlin and 3 Dorado. They also lost a nice Wahoo, but that can happen.
