January 15th

Another beautiful day here in Cabo. Cloudless skies with the temp in the upper 70s. Carl & Bill came down to Cabo to enjoy some fishing, and although their wives decided not to come along, they had a great day on the water. Being from Missouri, its hard not to enjoy the weather in Cabo, while the midwest is blanketed in snow and freezing, those on the water enjoy the sun and sea. They headed out to the lighthouse also known as "El Faro" for all you Spanish speakers out there. The bite has been very hot out there lately, with a shorter commute, it means more time at the fishing grounds. Carl & Bill were excited with their stripped marlin they brought in. Nice work gentleman, we hope to see you down here next year!

January 13th

I may be backing off my belief on this whole "Full Moon = Bad Fishing" deal.
ReelRum and Rum Runnin each had solid days on the water today.

Our good friends from Swift Current, Saskatchewan Rod Smith, Mark Andres and Kelly Knudsen had a fabulous day on the water. They caught and released 3 Marlin, while losing 3 more and they managed a nice Dorado for the dinner table. See you next year guys!

The Houghston group led the day however, on Rum Runnin. They were able to bring in 2 nice Dorado while catching and releasing 4 Marlin.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow might bring!

Good to be back in Cabo

January 9th, 10th and 11th

Don't let the full moon fool you! The fishing has been off the hook, no pun intended, the last few days. Although the fishing tale says that you can't catch fish on a full moon, well check out what's been biting the last few days and see if you are still a believer in that myth.

So here is the scoop on the latest and greatest that Cabo waters has offered those fishing with RedRum during full moon phase. The past few days we've been blessed with such fun, happy and easy going fisherpeople. Thanks guys for fishing with RedRum.

On Friday the 9th, sunny skies graced us once again and the boats headed out for "El Faro" also known as The Lighthouse. Bill aboard RumRunnin headed out for a quick half day trip and happened upon 1 dorado and 1 mako shark! Wow, we don't see those too often. Mr. Gasky and son Will as always head out with their favorite panga Captain Carlos. They had plenty of dorado and rooster to take home for dinner that night.

On Saturday the 10th, ReelRum, headed out solo again with the Davalos from Philly. Nick and Greg along with grandfater Bob. They were a part of the Stay & Play package and had a great time at the Portofino Condos as well as time spent on the water. This was their second day fishing and boy did they nail it once again with 3 marlin, 2 dorado and 2 rooster. Very nice job gentleman, we hope you come back and see us!

And today, rounding off the weekend, was the Fryatt group from Wisconsin. A fun group of guys with a groom on board, first day of his married life by the way. They reeled in 4 marlin, 1 dorado and 1 hammerhead. The Hughston on day 1 of their 2 day fishing trip aboard RumRunnin reeled in 2 marlin and 2 dorado, plenty for dinner as well I'd imagine. And last but not least The Nally's, probably the 2 nicest people from Kansas and as excited as ever about that big marlin had a fantastic day on the water, reeling in 2 marlin and 3 dorado. The dorado just got vacuum sealed and is ready for frozen cooler travel back to the U.S. of A.

So being the only female and holding down the fort while the boys are out stirring up new business, I've been growing in my role, and have offically moved up to writing the fish report now and again. My name is Brooke by the way, so nice to meet all of you readers.

January 7th & January 8th

Wrapping up towards the end of the week another great 2 days on the water. With the water fully loaded with RedRum boats on the 7th & 8th the marlin and dorado turned up on the Pacific near Golden Gate.

The RedBeam headed out with a father daughter combo excited to hit the water and reeling in 3 marlin and 2 dorado on Wednesday. The Dellanina party aboard ReelRum reeled in 4 dorado and 2 marlin. The Deiter group a friendly and handsome group from South Dakota aboard El Nuevo reeled in their dinner with 4 dorado. Chivo captain of RumRunnin came back with 1 marlin and 1 dorado.

As Thursday kicked off this morning with sunny skies and excited fishermen, the fish were still to be found near Golden Gate. The Mumby group rolled out of bed a bit late, but still made it to the fishing grounds with plenty of time to fish, reeling in their 3 marlin. Mr. Coleman back fishing with us again, this time solo without his daughter catching his 1 dorado and 1 marlin and last but not least the big bang of the last 2 days is ReelRum with Captain Omar. A group of three from Philly, comprising of grandfather and 2 grandsons brought in a whopping 6 marlin to the boat. They had 9 on the line all together but managed to bring 6 of them in! Well done Davalos!

January 5th and 6th Fish Report

Another beautiful day on the waters surrounding Cabo San Lucas. Although yesterday had a little bit of rain in the morning and overcast it made for a good day fishing to kick off the New Year.

Dave Gladney along with his wife and daughter headed out with Javier aboard RumRunnin on the 5th. Despite the cloudy day, they managed to reel in 3 stripe marlin! One marlin, Dave says, weighing as much as 240 lbs. What a great job guys.

Today on the 6th the boats headed out with a bit of a chill in the morning but didn't stop RumRunnin once again to reel in 2 marlin with the Desmonds and RedBeam to knock out 2 dorado and 2 stripe marlin.

The fishing is still hot! We hope everyone is kicking of 2009 with a bite!

January 4th Update

Christmas cheer was still in the air when Dad, Brooke and I last visited our favorite sushi place Art & Sushi. The manager Miguel has always talked about how he would love to head our fishing some time. Well Dad made sure we stopped talking about it and made it happen. Miguel always takes very good care of us and our clients so we wanted to take good care of him in return. Miguel and his son (we have a soft spot for father and son fishing teams,) headed out on ReelRum with Omar on the house. They did a half day and caught and release a Striped Marlin and brought home a Dorado for dinner.

Javier and Cesar were the Captain and Mate team on Rum Runnin' for Ted Couch and Brett Haysen and they had a great day on the water as well. With the Pacific winds swirling this morning the boys decided to head up the Sea of Cortez and check on the warmer, calmer waters. The guys managed 4 nice Dorado and Ted and Brett are already cooking them up.

Charters are still available for the end of the week, give us a call and get on the water!

January 2nd

Marlin Marlin Marlin...

All the boys did great with Marlin today. Golden Gate is still holding tons of fish and people are really enjoying the diverse action with porpoise, whales and sea lions all over the place. El Nuevo had 8, Rum Runnin had 2, Beam had a few, and ReelRum is still fishing.

Gotta run home to take care of a sick wife, but more tomorrow.
