Back in Business!

Hi everybody,

It's good to be back in Cabo and working! Unfortunately I had to leave almost 2 weeks ago after I received an emergency phone call from my family in Mexico City. I just got back this past Friday. Thank you all who have kept my Mom in your prayers. Things are looking a bit better, but we are still waiting for that angioplasty surgery this upcoming Saturday...I am confident that everything will be ok.

After coming back to work on Saturday, I realized I missed out on a lot and it took me a while before I got updated with all the changes in the office...but I am up and about ready for round 2!

That is why I did not post anything for Saturday or Sunday. I was busy "understanding" some things here in the office.

So on Saturday we had Russell Brewster and his 4 friends fishing for a second day on Nuevo with captain Alex and Mate Manuel. These guys had luck on their side throughout their whole trip, I mean a day before they had caught that 50 Lbs Rooster and some other fish and this last day was no exception. They fished on the Sea of Cortez and after their full day of fishing and fun their total count was 1 66' Dorado (Which is probably the biggest I've seen)and a 180" Striped Marlin.

These guys showed me pictures of their catch and I was shocked to see such a big Dorado! I sure hope they send in the picture so we can show it off to everyone!

Mike Fox, who had previously fished a day before on Nuevo, decided to try RumRunnin on this day, and after their full day of fishing they ended up with 4 nice size Dorados. They took some to get it cooked with Cesar the Chef! I personally know this Chef and I know he does a wonderful job with food! Nice guys.
They also fished on the 22nd aboard Nuevo, but they did not have as much luck as previous days.

ReelRum went out on Aug. 22nd for a full day but had no luck out there! I won't say names.....All I know is that Captain Jesus and Mate Edgar tried their hardest out there but the fishies were just not cooperating!

abard Tantrum we had Anny Rodriguez and Alexander Sandoval from Chicago who fished for a full day with Captain Ramon and Mate Juan. This nice couple reeled in a total of 13 Dorado, biggest being between 35-40 Lbs. They took some to a restaurant to get it cooked for the night and left the rest to haul back when they leave to San Francisco. Awesome job guys!

Last but not least we had Michael and Mandi Waldron from Shreveport, LA and their trip was cut short because water was too rough so they decided to head back not before reeling in 3 nice size dorados. They came back by 11 and they had already caught 3 Dorado which means that fish are starting to bite closer and earlier!

Thanks for Reading
Nick

P.S. I also want to Thank John, Ryan, Brooke and Randie for always being there when I needed them. Thanks guys! you are my second family!!!!

Wowsa!!

Well it has been an amazing day on the water for RedRum clients today!

We kicked off with the Brewster party enjoying a Stay & Play package at the Portofino Condos. They headed out for their 2nd day on the water aboard ReelRum for a half day trip. They headed out to the Sea of Cortez area along Chileno Bay and was able to pull 1 Dorado, 4 Jack Crevalle and a whopping 50 lb. Roosterfish! Not too shabby.

Our other boats headed out to the Pacific side for their full day trips. First back were Kyle and Adrienne from Indiana aboard TantRum with Capt. Ramon. Kyle walked into the office and says, "Well, we got skunked!". Of course this happens from time to time with fishing, but before I could say more he smiled and said, "Just kidding! We pulled in 5 Striped Marlin!" He and Adrienne were ecstatic of course. They were able to release all 5 of the beautiful Stripers. We'll see you in October for your 40th Kyle!

Next back was RumRunnin with Captain Javier. Jim, Robbin, Dave and John had a great day out at Golden Gate as well. Our friends from Horned Frog country as well as Minnesota were all smiles with their bagged up Dorado. They were able to catch 2 nice Dorados as well as 2 Striped Marlin. One of the Stripers weighed in at what they thought to be about 200 lbs. One of the bigger Stripers we've seen in awhile. Both were released as well. Thanks for fishing with us again guys, we'll see you again soon we hope!

And last but not least was another wonderful group from CCA Texas hailing from Houston and Oklahoma. They too are also enjoying the Portofino Condos. Michael, Lance, Mike and Joel headed out for the first of three days aboard El Nuevo. Out at Golden Gate Mike Fox was able to reel in that Striped Marlin that he was waiting for that weighed in at about 120 lbs. They also pulled in another 3 Dorado weighing between 20-40 lbs. Now they're headed back to the condos to have a nice meal cooked up by Chef Cesar at the condos. Yummy!

Thanks for checking in! Oh, and we're happy to announce that Nick will be back in the office tomorrow. We have missed his shining face.

Alex's Twins!

As many of you know, Captain Alex and his wife recently had twin baby girls.

Here is a shot of the two cuties!

Nice and Calm today...

After some swells yesterday that came with the Low Pressure System today looks to be a beautiful day on the water. A little overcast and no one is going to complain about that in August in Cabo!

Low Pressure System in the Cortez

Well, we've had a low pressure system sitting in the Sea of Cortez/Pacific for the past few days and it has made for some bumpy rides out to the fishing grounds, but the swells are really only effecting the coastal waters. Most of our anglers have shared the same sentiment, once you get to banks, things really start to calm down.

The Blue and Black Marlin bite is still very strong right now with lots of Blue's in the 200-300lb class being caught and released. Just yesterday, Joseph Giladi and his family from Los Angeles joined Javier and Manuel on El Nuevo and they had a Blue that Alex estimated at 250lbs. The Giladi's were a little disappointed that they couldn't get the big fish onto the stern of the boat for a photo, but when you are dealing with a fish of that size, anything can happen. Javier said the fish was still a little "green" when it came to the side of the boat and for the safety of the fish and the anglers they decided against a family portrait.

Keil Strickland and his lovely wife Tiffany, my good friends from TCU were down to fish with us recently as well. They fished with Captain Ramon on TantRum and had a good day on the water. Keil had one thing on his mind and that was Marlin. The boys found a few fish tailing the surface of the water and pitched bait to several fish before getting a hook-up. Keil lost the first battle as the Striped Marlin spit the hook, but 15 minutes later they raised another Marlin and had a good hook set and Keil landed his first Marlin. Congrats Keil and thanks for releasing that fish to fight another day.

Scott and Kim Perry of Victoria, Texas had a great second day of action earlier in the week with 3 Striped Marlin, all caught and released. Captain Ramon on TantRum is on a serious hot streak with the Marlin right now. He had 4 Blue Marlin hook-ups in one day last week and is riding that hot streak as long as he can.

Sunday!

Hola everyone!

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Once again we apologize for the delay on getting this report out, we appreciate your patience. We've been a bit short staffed during a busy time.

Here's the latest and greatest of what has been getting pulled in!

We had Aaron Huebner from Aurora, Colorado and Navid from Ladera Ranch, California head out on RumRunnin on August 14th and 15th. On Saturday they caught 1 small Tuna and a nice Blue Marlin. Today wasn't too bad either. With a bit of rain in the a.m. it cooled things off weather wise here in Cabo. They headed out to the 1150 point about 10-15 miles from there, they came back with about a 25lb Dorado as well as a Striper. Not too bad at all, nice to get some variety over the 2 days. It was a bit choppy today but didn't stop these two!

Saturday the 14th Keith & Brian Linton from California headed out on TantRum. They had some suerte out on the water reeling in one Dorado that they decided to pack up and bring home with them. They fought a Striped Marlin but lost it in the end.

The crew on ReelRum; Benjamin, David and John Powell from Florida and San Diego headed out with ReelRum. They were stoked to reel in 2 Marlin! And I wanted to be sure to tell all you readers that the Gulf of Mexico in their neck of the woods is open for fishing as of last week! Don't forget about visiting Florida, they've been hit hard.

On El Nuevo Saturday the 14th, David, Tom, Robert and Frank all from New Jersey had a great 2nd day on the water. They reeled in 2 Marlin and 2 Dorado!

Taylor, Paul and Roman from Kansas City headed out on Grey Light on the 14th. Ulysses did a great job of getting them into some Dorado, they were able to reel in 2 of them.

And last but not least for Saturday, John Southard and his crew headed out with Cabo Chica. They were able to reel in 1 Striped Marlin and 1 Dorado for the day.

Now for the rest fishing this great Sunday...

The friendly Blessing group from Ft. Worth, Texas (GO FROGS!) headed out with El Nuevo. They had fish on their minds. They went out past the 1150 and saw quite a few jumping Marlin but just couldn't get any of them to bite. Thanks for understanding friends that that's all a part of fishing.

We had the super nice couple with their Southern charm hailing from Victoria, Texas, Kim and Scott Perry. They went out on Tantrum fishing about 10-15 miles past the 1150 (that's about 32 miles from Cabo folks!) They were able to reel in a nice Striped Marlin as well as a yummy looking Dorado. Kim is excited to go back to her favorite restaurant that she remembers from last year tomorrow night... Misiones de Kino. They are ready for more fishing tomorrow!

Well we once again thank you for your patience with our delayed report. Please keep Nick's mom in your prayers!

Happy Sunday everyone.

Prayers...

You may have noticed in my earlier post that we are short staffed right now. Nick Lopez, our wonderful office manager, had to return home to Mexico City for a family emergency. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick and his family now, and hope you will do the same.
