Hola Hola... Back to the reports after missing a few days. John Donovan was in town covering the office for a few days, since Diana is still out with her broken jaw. Unfortunately there is more to running a sportfishing company than catching monster fish all day long. Brooke and I spent the week going to Notary, getting permits, and all the other extremely boring and often times frustrating aspects of the business. That being said, at the end of each day, dad was more interested in cooling off with a glass of Pinot Grigio on ice than writing about all the fish being caught. I will do my best to piece together what happened in my absence.
Tuesday was phenominal for most of the boats we sent out. Another whale was found dead, floating offshore and providing both shade and a meal for many a fish. The boats that were fortunate enough to find the whale had amazing days. John Baggette, a friend from the state of Texas and TCU took a large party out with Fiden, the Captain of the 42' Pescado III. Fiden was one of the first boats on the scene and they caught 8 Yellowfin and 2 real nice sized Wahoo. We saw John and his crew that night at Misiones de Kino enjoying their catch. I had the pleasure of meeting John's wife and his daughter Hannah, who informed me that she was heading out the following day to show her dad how it was done. Unfortunately, day 2 wasn't as great of a day as a few of the ladies on the boat didn't agree with the seas and got sick. They were back early and didn't get much fishing in.
The Rico party that came off the Royal Carribean cruise ship suffered the same fate and they too had to call it quits shortly after their trip began.
Keith Grove and his son were back for Day 3 of their Cabo adventure and after 2 days and only 1 fish to show for it, they had something to prove. Well they certainly made up for the two slow days, Keith and his son came back with 4 Dorado flags and 8 tuna flags flying, grinning from ear to ear.
Jeff Clinkscales and Leon Jordan fished with Javier and Manuel aboard Run Runnin and caught a nice Marlin and a big Dorado. Not a bad day at all!
Kevin Miller fished with Carlos aboard a Panga and they went out searching for Roosterfish. While they couldn't get into the Roosters, they did grab some Bonita and 6 Pargo. A good friend of Captain Marshalls found the Roosters though and brought in a monster 53 Kilo fish, 116lbs. Can't imagine the fight that fish must have put up.
Matthew Clark and his crew had a great day on the Tuna as well, they fished with Omar and Americo on ReelRum and brought in 6 Yellowfin Tuna.
Don and Cecilia Carruth along with Matt and D'Liza Stockman fished with Freddy and caught a huge 107" 160lb Striped Marlin.
Wednesday was a little rough on the water, as the girls on Pescado III can vouch for. Duane Abshire fished with Javier and Chivo, and while they caught a Marlin they had a somewhat slow day.
Brian Reardon and his crew fished on the RedBeam and El Nuevo RedRum. Not sure how the Beam did, but they found a school of Tuna on El Nuevo and caught 5.

Sunday session...
After a great 4th of July party last night (yes, we still celebrate American holidays,) Brooke and I had little to no interest in fishing this morning, but my Dad John was ready to get out on the water after working in the office all week. I talked to him early in the day and they had seen a bunch of Marlin, which he did not want to do battle with. (I know, pretty spoiled, seeing Marlin and not throwing bait.) Mate Manuel got a call from a friend on the radio who had found a big school of Tuna so the guys raced over. Unfortunately they were 7 miles away when they got the call and by the time they got there the school had dissipated a bit. John was able to get dinner for us out of the smaller school they found.
On ReelRum today we had Mr. and Mrs. Perry from Victoria, Texas. After "fishing" with another fleet yesterday, the Perry's were ready to do some actual fishing today so we hooked them up with Americo and Marshall on ReelRum. These folks wanted to catch Marlin and the boys made it happen for them. Both Mr. and Mrs. Perry were able to bring in nice Striped Marlin, one of the two measuring a whopping 114" inches. After the Marlin it was time to find dinner and once again they were successful, catching a nice Dorado to cook up tomorrow night.
Sorry for the few missing reports this week, Jefe John has been covering the office while Brooke and I have been running some errands away from the office. We are ready for Diana to get back, she has been feeling better and her jaw is healing, shouldn't be long. Thanks for all your help this week Dad, we love having you down here.

Serious case of "Should have been here yesterday..."
Unfortunately, our anglers today got a serious case of "Should have been here yesterday..." With four RedRum boats scouring the seas, along with countless other Cabo boats also in on the search, the whale was nowhere to be found. Maybe those gases that brought the beast to surface escaped or subsided and what was left of the whale was making it's way to the ocean floor. Mother nature always has a way of throwing curve balls and today certainly was certainly one of them. After two days of off the chart fishing success, the drop off today was a major letdown.
Friend to the RedRum family, Joe Munos visited us today and fished with his son aboard Rum Runnin. Javier wasn't able to find any fish that wanted to bite, and unfortunately the boat came back skunked.
Robb Jenkins and his crew fish with El Nuevo RedRum and Captain Alex found only 1 Dorado that was willing to tango.
Ryan Gallagher and his friends took out the RedBeam today and brought back 1 Yellowfin Tuna.
Richard and Meg Delor were back for day two and they were the luckiest of all anglers today, bringing in 2 Yellowfin Tuna and nice 200+ lb Striped Marlin.
Hopefully the fish will be back on Friday.

Whale of a Wednesday
The boys found the dead whale again today, 26 miles offshore, with Captain Omar reportedly the 4th boat at the scene Wednesday morning. Captain's Alex and Javier were quickly informed of the whereabouts and were on their way. Omar reported fish up to half a mile away from the whale, not just directly underneath the temporary "structure at sea."
Kyle Newcomer and his wife Adrienne, who had already fished once with us this week and had a great "mixed bag" day, were back out on the water. Looking to add to a great first day, their second day on the water was one I am sure they couldn't even have imagined. Finding the fish around 9am, they were out of bait by 10am and had to resort to plastics at that point. They caught 8 Dorado up to 40lbs and released 3 of them, and also hauled in 3 Yellowfin Tuna.
The Van Amburg party was next up, Jim, Niv, Dustin and Preston fished aboard El Nuevo RedRum with Captain Alex. They too found the whale and the action was on. They coaxed 9 Dorado to the boat as well as 2 Yellowfin Tuna.
Darren Payne's party was fishing with RumRunnin, Todd, Kenny, Doug, and the two Ryan's had a phenominal day. Kenny and Doug each had 4 Dorado, but Doug also brought in 3 Tuna, making him the winner of the most fish. All total, the crew had 14 Dorado, many of which were released and 9 Yellowfin Tuna. Sounds like Mate Manuel had his hands full.
Finally we had Dennis Ortiz from SouthLake, Texas. The Ortiz's live next to our good friends the Corley's in SouthLake and Dennis heard all about us from Thomas Corley. Excited to have a connection in Cabo, the Ortiz's booked a full day with us on the RedBeam. While we made the Ortiz's aware of what was happening out near the whale, they had Marlin on their mind. Heading up towards the Gordo Banks on the Sea of Cortez, Marshall did his best to make a Marlin happen. While pitching bait to a bunch of fish, they couldn't get a Marlin interested. They did hav a nice consolation prize of 2 good size Dorado.
Let's see if we can find that floating whale a third day in a row tomorrow.

Found a little something floating today...
And, as some of you know, when a Captain finds something floating in the water there is usually something hanging around below. Well, they always say it is better to be lucky than good, today the boys got lucky. 20 miles offshore, unfortunately (for the whale, not the fisherman) a whale died and floated to the surface. Bait fish, Dorado and even Tuna took advantage and were all feeding on and around the whale.
Captain Omar pulled double duty today, with a rare 1/2 day charter in the morning and another 1/2 day charter in the afternoon. First up were Eric and Medea Olson. Omar lured in a nice 45lb Dorado with a Mexican Flag colored lure from Ballyhood Lures, which Eric fought. Next up was Medea, who caught and released an estimated 140lb Marlin. After returning to the Marina and cleaning the boat, Omar headed back out and had at least 1 Yellowfin Tuna for James Heil and his crew last we heard.
Captain Marshall on the RedBeam hosted Bill and Ona Yoa today. Marshall had heard of fish being caught away from the Herradura Bank and was unfortunately no where near the floating whale carcass. That being said, Marshall was still able to find the Yellowfin, hooking the Yoa's up with 3 nice fish.
Vincent Potti and his son fished with Javier on Rum Runnin and they were lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. They were one of the first boats to find the whale and they had an epic day. 9 Dorado, 6 of which they released and 8 Yellowfin Tuna found their way to the boat after eating live pitch bait.
DeeAnn Robinson and her crew got off the Royal Carribean Cruise Line at 9:30am and by 10:30am they were nearing the action. Having heard about what was happening out at sea, Captain Alex fired up the twin engine 33' Bertram and raced to the scene. The Robinson's finished their day with 8 Dorado and 3 Yellowfin Tuna. What a fabulous day for a group that got a late start.

True to form....
True to form, we didn't get a fish report out yesterday. Monday's are pay day for the Captains and Mates, which of course makes it that much crazier around the office when the boats get back. If you read any of the reports from last week, the boys certainly earned their paychecks last week. Monday came and all the boys were headed back to the Herradura Bank, the fish that were there on Saturday had calmed down a bit on Sunday (as I am all too well aware.) Let's see how the boys did on Monday.
Jennifer and Randal Snyder from Surprise, Arizona were the first to return to the Marina and they had a great day on the water. "Mixed Bag" would be the term that best represented their day on the water. Randal brought in a real nice Sailfish, a fish we haven't seen a whole lot of this year, so that was an encouraging way to start their day. The Snyders also brought in a nice Dorado, a Yellowfin Tuna, and a Jack Crevalle. The Jack Crevalle's have been all over the place lately and showing some good size as well.
Captain Richard Delor and his wife Meg are visiting from Nevada and spending two days of their 10th anniversary vacation fishing with RedRum. Captain Richard is used to fishing the Great Lakes area out of Michigan, so hooking into a 9ft Striped Marlin was a real trip for him. A true angler, Richard was able to catch and release his first Marlin in about 30 minutes. The Delor's will be fishing with us again on Wednesday, hope the action continues where it left off.
Greg Barron and his crew were back for their second day of fishing, which is included in our Stay and Play Packages. Greg, Mary, Nancy, Vicki and Michael were all back again, but the day belonged to Courtney, Greg's daughter. Courtney put her guns to work and caught and released 2 whopper Striped Marlin. 97" and 101" were the lengths of these two big Marlin! Congratulations Courtney! Great Job!
Finally we had the Wade Groenwold along with Lori, his wife and Preston and Dalton his two kids. Joyce Morgan and Karen Dorner were also along for the ride today, and a beautiful ride it was. Fabulous weather for fishing and calm seas. Lori showed them all how it was done with a massive 107" Marlin. Preston was trying to get mom to let him put the mount up in his room once it was done, however, I think Lori has different thoughts about where this beautiful Marlin will be residing. Congrats Lori, that was one hell of a Marlin!
