Enough Tuna to Last Through the Winter
Leslie Jordan and her new husband Jerome went out with daughter Shelby and her friend Jillian on our 32’ RedBeam with Captain Marcial. Leslie and Jerome wed this past Tuesday on famous and beautiful Pedregal beach and decided to celebrate their amor fishing with us today and doing a great job at it! They fished Golden Gate on the Pacific side just thirteen miles offshore where the water was at eighty five degrees. They caught 8 Tuna ranging from twenty to forty pounds and on their way back caught 3 Dorado weighing up to twenty pounds.
Tom, Greg and Steven from Minnesota made me laugh more than usual this morning and even as they arrived back after an eight hour fishing trip they managed to keep the humor running high. Great anglers that they are, they didn’t pout after coming back with just one Tuna. “That’s why it’s called fishing” said Greg. Lucky for them they’ll also be going out on Saturday and get another try at reeling in a big Tuna. One thing is for sure, they won’t let anything get in their way when it comes to having a good time.
AJ and his wife from California went out on our 32’ RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Manuel. They went off to Golden Gate, about twelve miles offshore and caught 5 Tuna. Three of the Tuna were quite large and took us forever to vacuum seal. The three largest Tuna weighed 120lbs, 95lbs and 45 pounds. They’ll be taking their fish home with them tomorrow once it gets all frozen and will have enough Tuna meat to get them through the winter.

Where did everyone go?
Seems like everyone came down to Cabo before Labor Day and enjoyed the long weekend, but headed home late Monday. Only one boat went out today, Liz and Fred Smith from Tampa, Florida. Had a nice conversation with Liz and Fred before their charter and they mentioned how they never have any time for fishing back in Tampa. That's why you come on vacation right?
Heading towards the Golden Gate on the Pacific in mid 80's water with clear skies. All was going well on the way up to the bank, but when Omar spotted a school of Porpoise and Tuna and started the troll, Liz unfortunately started to feel ill. Liz hung in like a trooper, long enough for Fred to bring in a nice size Tuna, but after that it was time to head back to stable grounds of land.
Dramamine is always a good idea not only the morning of, but also the night before if anyone is ever worried about sea-sickness. Hopefully we'll see Liz and Fred back in Cabo soon and the seas will agree with everyone.

Labor Day Update!
Hola Hola, Happy Labor Day to all my readers in the States. Hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday weekend. While you were all at the Lake, tooling around with the Wakeboards, Jet Ski's and Bass Boats, RedRum clients were out catching fish! And lots of them.
The Father/Son team of Torrey and Loren Eltiste along with pal Mickey Streater had a slow day to start, but finished strong. Heading towards Golden Gate Bank on the Pacific with Alex and Ramon, the guys had a hard time getting a bite. Alex and Ramon kept on it though, staying out on the water longer than the normal 8 hours and it paid off with late hook-ups. The guys got into a small school of Tuna, where they got 3 nice size fish from the looks of the fillets and also manages a nice Dorado.
Ryan Pomroy and Erica Swartz of Alexandria, Virginia had a hell of a day on the water today. Heading out with Omar and Manuel on ReelRum, also towards the Golden Gate Banks, they got into the fish early and often. Omar had them on 4 Tuna before 9am, followed by 2 Dorado shortly thereafter. Later in the day came the Billfish, with 3 hook-ups which resulted in a catch and release Marlin, and a catch and release and mount of a nice Sailfish. Congrats guys, fabulous day on the water.

Marlin in Sight
The Rasmussen group from Texas were back today for the second time this week but without the girl’s who were reported as “kidnapped”, which in Cabo language most of the time means that they are still partying well into daylight. They went out on our 32’ RedBeam with Captain Marcial and Mate Fabian. The guys did really well today catching 11 Tuna, 1 Bonita and they even caught and released a nine foot, hundred and fifty pound Striped Marlin on their way in. They said that it sure makes a difference fishing when you’re still drunk/hungover, which they weren’t today. The girl’s stopped by mid-day to ask how the boys fishing was going along and then headed back to Mango Deck for perhaps another booty-shaking contest (which they won yesterday). Good luck ladies!!!
The Franklin group, also from Texas went out for their second day in a row on our 32’ RumRunnin and 33’ El Nuevo. The folks on RumRunnin went thirty seven miles out on the Pacific side, ten miles outside of Golden Gate and seventeen miles offshore. There they caught 10 Tuna, the largest weighing about thirty five pounds and 1 Dorado of twenty five pounds. The water temperature was eighty four degrees and the ocean was calm. The group that went out on El Nuevo went thirty two miles out on the Pacific and about twenty miles from the shore. They caught 2 Dorado, the largest weighing forty five pounds and 6 Tuna between twenty five and thirty pounds.

Mostly Cortez fishing today
The Franklin group from Texas went out on two of our boats today, the 33’ El Nuevo and 32’ RumRunnin. On Nuevo they caught a twenty five to thirty pound Dorado at 1150 banks of the sea of Cortez and on RumRunnin they caught an eighty pound Tuna in the same spot.
The Thompson group from Los Angeles, San Fancisco, CA and Austin, Texas went out on our 32’ RedBeam with Captain Marcial and Mate Fabian. They hit 95 banks on the Cortez side and hooked up to an easy Dorado around noon weighing about forty pounds. Water temperature was at eighty seven degrees.
The Joubran group from Texas went out on one of our partner boats with Captain Ulises and caught 8 Tuna around fifteen pounds each. The group fished about ten miles from Golden Gate where water temperature was eighty degrees.

Love and Fish
Some people look for their future husband or wife at the grocery store, others in bars like “El Squid Roe” while other’s like Monika and Jeff from San Diego go fishing. Almost fifteen years ago this couple came down to Cabo to fish with friends and they’ve been inseparable since. They have fond memories of Cabo not only because of their romance but because of the great fishing and today was no different. They headed out to Golden Gate on our 28’ ReelRum with captain Americo and mate Juan. Roughly ten miles from shore they hooked up to and caught 4 twenty pound Tuna and 4 twenty five to thirty pound Dorado. After their catch they came back in to let me know how their day went and you could tell from their faces that they had had a great time. When I asked how they were treated by their crew Jeff said: “I’ve been on boats where the crew was just hanging out but these guys were constantly working. They saw stuff that we couldn’t even see”.
Daniel, Jason, Buddy, Kim, Natasha and Kris went out for the second time this week, this time on our 32’ RumRunnin with Captain Javier and Mate Manuel. Ben caught a big Tuna and tried to hook up to a Marlin but they wouldn’t bite. Jason caught onto a eight foot sailfish weighing about eighty pounds which will soon be mounted in his game room next to the Bass he catches on his lakes; tough life.
Mark, Travis, Darin, Melissa, Branwyn and Misty from Texas made it into the office a bit late this morning claiming time change confusion but once they were out on the open water the true reason for sleeping in came out. Fortunately they were in good company with Captain Alex and Mate Ramon on our 33’ El Nuevo. Before coming in this group did a great job at catching a hundred and twenty pound Tuna using a lure on the sea of Cortez about 5 miles from shore. It was a nice forty minute struggle that brought the entire group back to life and we will be seeing them for more action again on Monday.
